On arrival there were a few items that needed addressing in the room. No toilet roll holder. Cover to the bathroom fan had fallen down and was covered in lint. Heat light did not work. when mentioned to the front desk they were all put right. But where was the Executirve housekeeper who is suppose to check all this before it is signed off? First room had a toilet that wouldn't stop running. 2nd room had no toilet paper. Carpet was very soiled. Room smelled like a pool - strong chlorine smell. Overflowing dumpsters right behind room. This could be a nice facility, but it needs a lot of TLC.

We were lucky to find such a great hotel on St. Patrick's Day weekend. The only con is the proximity to downtown Charleston, but we loved the room with upstairs! The kitchen came in handy but I didn't have to make breakfast because the hotel has a FULL breakfast; not continental!!! We will definitely stay again!

We chose this hotel based on the suite type room since we have a 6 month old and travel with a lot of stuff. The room layout was great, plenty of room, the bed and bathroom were clean, but the kitchen area was not. The table legs were falling off of the table so my husband tightened the screws so the table wouldn't fall over, the table and counters […] were sticky from the previous guest, the dishwasher had OLD, NASTY water standing in the bottom that made our entire room smell awful. Had to run an empty dishwasher just to get rid of the smell. The bathroom light was burned out, took it to the front desk, they didn't have replacement bulbs, so again my husband had to take a bulb out of the kitchen area and put it in the bathroom so we could see. The telephone was broken and wasn't even in working condition. Based on the expense of the room, I was VERY disappointed with service. The lady at check in was not knowledgable and took forever to get checked in, which shoudln't be the case considering I used this website to get our reservation. Plus they hasn't actually reserved a room until I got there and we almost had to get in a smoking room. Considering the multitude of other hotel option in this same area and across the Charleston area, I recommend you chose another hotel for your stay. Read more

We were very in pressed of Hawthorn Suites. Our only complaint was the Queen size bed. Which is the reason for the rating of the Condition or Maintenance of the hotel. When we arrived we could tell that the room smelled clean. First glance was good, spacious with 2 tvs and we had high expectations because of the name Wyndham. The room was spacious and clean except for the following issues... We were disappointed at the sight that the mattress sank in the middle. We were there for Thanksgiving so we rushed in left […] our luggage and went to meet our family. When we returned we decided that probably turning the mattress would help. So I removed the sheets which did not look exactly fresh had yellow stains, then the matress pad, it was horrible to discover blood on the mattress pad. The mattress had a huge urine stain in the middle, hair on pillow case. the bathroom toilet leaked from around the bottom and was slightly movable. the entrance to the bathroom area was peeling and needed repair. when you turned the tv on or off or turned the channel, the other turned also. This was bothersome but we appreciated having 2 tvs. You could tell the furniture was old. the carpet needed vacuuming but was good quality. Read more

Quieter than I expected. The room had all the ammenities and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Small hotwater heater... enough to get a shower in, but needs to "reheat" before the next one. Furnishings were very comfortable and nicely layed out. I would come again.

This was nice place to stay but a little noisy. On either side of hotel is Lowe's and another business on the other side, and then it is really close to the highway. Breakfast was very good though! Room was nice except front of drawer fell off the bathroom cabinet.

The hotel is convenient to the highway with many restaurants and shopping around. The room had plenty of space for all five of us (we had a 2 bedroom) but my biggest complaint was it 's cleanliness. We thought this was a nice hotel with all the features you'd expect for a "suites" hotel. The hotel is divided inot some 15 buildings, each with 4-6 suites over 2 floors. Quite, even though next to highway. Pleasant. Nicely done.

I loved this hotel and had no idea they use to be owned by the Marriot. The location was ideal and the amenities were superb. Even my friend who is from that area said she would stay here next time she visits versus staying on the military base at a discounted price.

Hawthorne Suites was very comfortable, clean, offered a friendly and courteous staff, and the suites offered all you could ask for. My only complaint was that the fire alarm outside our room kept going off one morning, but was remedied later that day. I would highly recommend this hotel to travelers and would certainly stay here again!

I almost did not stay upon my arrival. The way the hotel was described was much better than the actual presentation. It took three tries by the desk staff to get me a room. Due to my disappointment in the overall look of the facility, I asked to see my room prior to agreeing to stay. I went to the room, and the key would not work.
