The Convent Hotel is located on one of the main streets in Amsterdam and within easy walking distance to the Centraal Train station and Dam Square-so public transportation is a snap. The hotel is well kept and the staff is very friently. The one complaint about the staff is that they do not seem very knowledgeable about typical tourist activities in Amsterdam and we didn't find a concierge staff member to help with some of our questions. Our booking through hotels.com did not include the breakfast, which looked wonderful and was expensive, so we found a lovely little care within a block or two from the hotel for our breakfasts. Lots of tours seem to use the hotel, so the staff is very comfortable speaking in English with everyone.The entrance to the hotel faces the very busy street, but the rooms are all in the back of the hotel and are very quiet. We enjoyed our stay. I would suggest trying to get the breakfast included in the hotel price.

The hotel was clean, nice, the staff friendly and helpful, especially the Concierge. The location was great, within walking distance of many restaurants, and things to see in Amsterdam.

The room was very small and a bit tight for friends. It would be nice for a couple. But the room had a cozy private terrace. And the staff was wonderful! The two desk personnel we encountered were helpful, went out of their way to make sure we had what we needed for a great visit and made a point of having what we needed before we knew we needed it. The hotel was clean, the food just right and always a fresh cup of coffee waiting for us. I would return without thinking twice.
Location.
This centrally located Amsterdam hotel is just off Leidse Square, famous for its nightclubs, bars, restaurants, and cafés. The P.C. Hooftstraat shopping street is 3 blocks from the hotel. The Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum are about 0.5 km (0.3 mi) away.

The hotel location is great and the rooms are clean and comfortable but they need to work on the hallways and stained and dirty looking carpet. They charge an additional tax over and above what is charged from Hotels.com of roughly 10%. This is the first time we were charged anything more than we paid to Hotels.com. The "free wifi" is free only in […] the lobby and for a maximum of 30 minutes every 24 hours otherwise it is I believe 15 Euros per day. "Would stay again...great location!"
I would definitely stay at this hotel again. The location is perfect. Leidsplein (sp?), Vondel Park, the museums, and great restaurants are only steps away. It is also easy to walk to all the other sights, inlcuding the Red Light District, Anne Frank Haus, Heineken Experience, etc. The rooms are spacious, modern, and clean. Breakfast is not included […] in the rate, which was very disappointing. The staff was accomadating when needed. The nightly rate was steep, but Amsterdam overall seemed rather expensive compared to the other two cities we visited (Munich & Prague). Again, if you don't mind spending a little more, this hotel is a fine pick. Happy travels! Read more
"Good stay"
This was a great hotel. The only complaint I had was there were little hairs in the bed that were not ours. Which made me question the cleanliness. Other than that it would have been a perfect stat. Shower was awesome! Best waterpressure in Europe! Great location.

"Even tho they say they have AC... don't believe it"
Yes, We picked this hotel mainly because it was one of the few ones that looked nice and had AC... Well the first night we were there we woke up at 2am sweating and we felt like the AC was not blowing cold air. We called front desk and they offered to go to our room and check it out. The guy treated me like I was an idiot and pointed out that the AC […] was blowing. He was no help and just recommended to open the windows if its really that hot. The only problem with opening the windows is that it is too loud and we couldn't sleep that well. When we woke up again around 10am, the AC was blowing cold air again. The following morning, the same thing happened and he figured that front desk was not going to be of any help at all. Therefore, we called the following day and they finally admitted that the AC is turned OFF at 2am for 5-6 hours. Also, if you are really considering this hotel, beware of change in HOTELS. When we were checking out, there was one couple ahead of us arguing because since the hotel overbooked, they were sending them to another NH hotel. Yes, they do have like 5 NH locations in Amsterdam but if you are planing on going when there is a lot of people, make sure you get there early and get a room. We had a great 3 night stay at this hotel. The room was comfortable and clean and a great size. The hotel staff could not be friendlier or more helpful. It's in a great location and easily accessible for the airport, the 197 stops just accross the road and is only 4 euros. Our only complaint was a horrible smell from the air conditioning. I stayed there for 8 nights with my mother and was very satisfied. The location is really good, next to Leidsenplein, where there are lots of restaurants and cafes, a very nice shopping street and a tourist info kiosk, where you can buy tickets to museums and trams, skipping big lines. It is also close to the museum square and there is a bus/tram stop […] across the street. The bus 197 from the airport stops there and is only 4 euros/person. Breakfast is very expensive and is not worth - cafes at leidsenplein serve good food for much more reasonable prices. Facilities are good: bedroom was clean and comfortable - no luxury at all, but very good. Service at the bar is also nice, with very good food in the menu. Read more

The NH Amsterdam Centre was just perfect for our long weekend in Amsterdam. The front desk was very helpful in providing information about the hotel and the area. They were also very pleasant and patient answering all of my questions. We were a family of 3 (2 adults and 1 child) and while it would have been nice to have a little more room, we were […] hardly in the room at all so it didn't matter much. We had 1 large bed and then requested a cot for our child which was brought up very promptly. The room had somewhat of a sulfur odor but was not intolerable. The main areas/furniture of the room were very clean but under the bed and curtains it was very dusty. The breakfast at the hotel was 20 EUROS per person but there are plenty of places near by that are suitable alternatives. If you like pancakes, be sure to visit the pancake restaurant in the park across the street from the hotel! The location was really just perfect! It was about a 5-10 minute walk from the prime museums and 30-35 minute walk from Central station. There were trolly and bus stops just up the road 1-2 minutes so convenient to get around and not really noticable while in the hotel. One of the buses (197) took us from/to the airport too which was a significant discount from a taxi and much easier the taking multiple modes of transport (train/trolly).If you are not there with kids, it is also very near to many hot spots like The Bulldog coffee shop and great shopping. "NH Amsterdam Centre - nice location but…dirty!!!"
This hotel couldn't have a more perfect location. Close enough to the museum district and the core of the city but just far enough from the bars that you don't have to worry about the noise. Staff at the hotel were very nice and accommodating and able to help with direction and suggestions. One major problem was how dirty the hotel room were. When we […] first got into the room it was late afternoon so the sun was shining low into the window - all we could see on the floors and table tops was dust. The next morning we asked the front desk to have the floors washed and the room dusted, but when we got back to the room again in the late afternoon you could see the areas where they had done the work and the areas that were untouched. As we had my 10 month son crawling on the floors I decided to clean them myself. I shouldn't have been surprised but I was after I had wiped up the floors and found the towel absolutely black with dirt. The floors weren't just dusty they were filthy. On closer inspection of the room we found dirty glasses in the washroom, stains on most of the furniture, the phone receiver looked like someone was using it as a science experiment. Also don't upgrade to a premium room because hotels-com says you get a balcony, they don't have premium rooms with balconies. Read more

"Good hotel high price"
+ location + nice room + iron in the room - time consuming check in (with a never ending mandatory form to fill in) - 15 eur for the gym and 20 eur for breakfast - totally strange air con solution in the room
"Useless service from the Hotelstaff"
Expect to wait for check out, useless service, bad smell in the rooms, poor breakfast and expensive, not worth at all. A huge dissapointment, I will never go back to this hotel since its so many other nice and cosy places to stay in Amsterdam.

The hotel is next door of the Marriott hotel in Amsterdam's Museum Quarter. Very convenient to many restaurant and museums, as well as to the Heineken Brewery. Best tip: Take the bus from Shiphol Airport to the hotel. The bus stop for the route 197 is located in front of the hotel!

This hotel is in a great location and a couple of minutes walk to Vondel Park, restaurants, pubs and shopping area. Bus 197 to and from the airport stops across the road from the hotel and only costs €4 per person

Ottima posizione, comodissimo per mezzi pubblici. Camera piccola con vista sul retro non tanto bella...all'arrivo ci hanno chiesto la cauzione (non specificata nella prenotazione) di 100 euro. Ci hanno ridato indietro solo 85 per via delle tasse di soggiorno :(

Para ser un hotel de cuatro estrellas no cubre las expectativas en cuanto al servicio . Nosotros nos alojamos en una habitación triple y la tercera cama era un camastro , hemos viajado por todo el mundo y en ningún hotel de esta catagoría la cama era así, era una cama normal , más aun cuando la habitación del NH si permitía una tercera cama normal . Et nydeligt hotel med god beliggenhed tæt ved centrum af Amsterdam. Dejlig morgenmadsbuffet og den Italienske restaurant i hotellet kan anbefales. Eneste kritikpunkt er den ene seng på værelset. Vi havde bestilt: Superior room - Weekend Extender og angivet 2 voksne og 1 barn (Alder: 15), hvilket betød at den 3. person måtte sove på en simpel sammenklappelig […] seng, som blev stillet ind på værelset. Hotel très bien situé de qualité. À un pas du quartier animés de coffee, bar, disco. L'arrêt Leidersplan est à deux pas de l'hôtel.
