"Don't stay here!"
08/25/14 Kelli H Blythewood
There was no ac running in the room before we got there at 9pm. Therefore we had to spend hours somewhere else before we could go to bed. All of the rooms had this problem. There were also fleas in the rooms. The only nice person was the guy at the front desk. The owner...who claimed he wasn't...wouldn't let me get a word in and did not seem to care at all about the comfort of the people staying there.
"HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE"
06/25/14 jennifer m Allendale, South Carolina
Unsatisfied with the check-in. I book my hotel online at 7:59. I arrived at the hotel around 8:30 and tried to check in. The clerk named Brian stated the reservation did not show up on his screen and there was nothing he could do. I stated that I booked online 30 minutes prior. He stated sorry I can’t help you until it shows up on my screen. He said go and come back in 30 minutes to an hour. Mind you it’s already late. I am a diabetic and I needed to eat and take my medication. He did not have any compassion and stated well you should have booked at the hotel and not online. So I leave and come back around 9:45. He states it’s still not up and he has seen where it can take up to two hours. So I call booking.com and they phone him to try to help solve the problem. After he speak with them he stated oh, when you use booking.com it doesn’t show up on the screen they send a fax. ??? At this point I am very frustrated, tired and weak due to needing my diabetic shot. I was very unsatisfied with this service. The room was decent, but next time I’m staying in Aiken, which is quite a bit, I am going to bypass the Howard Johnson. I will bypass all Howard Johnsons. Then I called to make the complaint and the customer service did not report my entire experienced and I felt rushed off the phone. Then the hotel where this nightmare occurred phoned to apologize to state they could offer 15% off my next visit. No thank you, I rather go elsewhere and pay full price. This was such a crazy experience.
"Extended Stay Visit"
06/18/14 Ernest B Corpus Christi, Texas
Extended stay visit to Granddaughter and Great Grandson's. Broken up in two different stays with a side trip to Florida and back. Basic older facility used by transient work crews. Plus for us had a pool and an extended stay rate. On a major street so had close by access to restaurants, shopping, etc. Very pleasant staff. No major problems for an older site.

The whole place had a dirty feeling about it. The room wasn't the cleanest, but the bedspread was nasty, no towels in the room, had to ask for them both days. Their were rats running around beside the pool area. The breakfast wasn't the best either, I was surprised to see sausage on the bar, but it was cold, no bananas, but their were a few apples. But I wasn't to sure about eating there anyway, the dinning area and lobby wasn't the cleanest either.
"Needed a quick, inexpensive overnight stay for my daughter..."

Needed a quick, inexpensive overnight stay for my daughter and I and was not going to be in the room much. The staff was very very accomodating and nice but the hotel is just simply badly in need of updating. Someone had tried to make the room as clean as it could be but there were multiple stains on both bedspreads (although the sheets were clean and the bed was very comfortable), rust in the bathroom and tub, peeling walls, dingy lighting, and towels that were stained to the point where I stopped at the Walmart down the street and picked up a clean set to use. I could have asked for more but all of the ones in the room were stained so I didn't figure it would help to ask for more and I needed to go to Walmart anyway. I just couldn't bring myself to use the ones in the room. There were other guests at the hotel that played loud music until very late and I will just say that I wouldn't let my teenage daughter out of the room to walk to the car at night when she said she needed something out of it and leave it at that. It was ok since I was already there but I wouldn't choose to stay here again. I paid $62/night for the room and feel that it was too much for the state the hotel is in. I am not that picky about hotels usually but would pay a little more to stay somewhere else next time. The staff was very friendly/sweet and tried hard to make you feel comfortable. Decent breakfast for waffles, muffins or cereal.

Front desk and bathroom ugly and dirty. The bathroom in the room was kind of clean. The coverlet dirty, the room in general dirty, AC did not work only the fan in low. It was pretty expensive. I won't stay here, ever. Wyndham hotels do better, normally.
"Try to find some other place"
04/12/14 NCsoprano Charlotte, North Carolina
First the pluses - very quiet room on the back of the hotel; adequate breakfast buffet; unexpectedly comfortable bed. That's it - the room was tiny and long overdue for a complete renovation; clean but stained tub; stained bath mat; no tissues in dispenser. In town for a horse show on Masters weekend so had limited options. Look elsewhere if you can.
"Howar Johnson in Aiken"
04/11/14 Subarna M Aiken
Unfortunately, this is the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. Everything was falling apart ( I have pictures if anyone is interested). I am not sure how old is the facility is, but the furniture looked so old and worn out, I am not sure if Salvation Army will even consider taking it. The sink had sink stopper missing. Night lamps on the wall half way falling. Curtain falling off You name it. By the way, I had to change my room from original room, because original one was even worst. The room I stayed was room 313. How can it be part Wyndham or Howard Johnson? Sad part was that they charged $171 per night for three night because it was a Master's week. It was disgusting all the way. I am not sure there was gym or not. Internet barely worked. I am not sure about meeting room. I don't think it had one.
"Hotel was clean and staff was friendly..even when we..."

A disappointment. Stayed here because we were traveling with our dog, and pets are accepted. We were thankful for that. But sink was dirty and racked, mold in bathroom. Door had paint chipped off. Towels were frayed and didn't look like they had ever seen Clorax.
