Staff were all very friendly. Our room was clean. I was disappointed to see that the pool was closed the whole time we were there, that is the reason that I book this hotel because of the location and the pool.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The room was set setup for our stay prior to arrival. For example. The room was setup for 3 guests as requested when I made the reservations. The staff was very helpful and courteous. I have a business that brings me to this area two or three times a year. I will be making plans to stay here in the future. Prices are reasonable and in a convenient location. I wish the rating system was broken up into subgroups. I would write it something like this: cleanliness: 5 out of 5. Staff helpfulness: 5 out of 5 . Room rating 3.5 out of 5. overall all rating of the stay 4.5 out of 5. It's not a $300 a night room but is a nice room for under $75

We checked in for 3 nights and had booked a non smoking room.. the room they first gave us reeked of cigarette smoke really bad... I called the front desk and told him and he said it was a non smoking room, but would move me to another room in the other building. He did and it also had cigarette smoke in it, but not as bad as the first one. People would stand in their doorway of non smoking rooms and smoke and guess where the smoke went! yes, right into the room. The next morning I went to dry hands on hand towel and it was dirty!!! Wallpaper in bathroom loose and falling down.... it said recently remodeled, but I could not see it. I do not recommend this hotel at all.... When I checked out after the first night, the charge for all 3 nights were showing up on my credit card and had to call and get it corrected... Breakfast was not good, ran out of things before breakfast was over. Also did not know high school football field was adjacent to hotel.... alot of noise on Friday night football season and Sat. morning...

Room was very comfortable and clean. Easy access to WiFi and convenient plug ins for computer and phone charger. Would recommend this hotel for its convenience to food, gas, and places of interest in Aiken.

Exactly what you should expect for a mid-price chain. A little peeling wallpaper, a little frayed carpet. Clean. Everything works. Extra blanket (YEA!), quiet (rare in Aiken!).

There was no ac running in the room before we got there at 9pm. Therefore we had to spend hours somewhere else before we could go to bed. All of the rooms had this problem. There were also fleas in the rooms. The only nice person was the guy at the front desk. The owner...who claimed he wasn't...wouldn't let me get a word in and did not seem to care at all about the comfort of the people staying there.

Unsatisfied with the check-in. I book my hotel online at 7:59. I arrived at the hotel around 8:30 and tried to check in. The clerk named Brian stated the reservation did not show up on his screen and there was nothing he could do. I stated that I booked online 30 minutes prior. He stated sorry I can’t help you until it shows up on my screen. He said go and come back in 30 minutes to an hour. Mind you it’s already late. I am a diabetic and I needed to eat and take my medication. He did not have any compassion and stated well you should have booked at the hotel and not online. So I leave and come back around 9:45. He states it’s still not up and he has seen where it can take up to two hours. So I call booking.com and they phone him to try to help solve the problem. After he speak with them he stated oh, when you use booking.com it doesn’t show up on the screen they send a fax. ??? At this point I am very frustrated, tired and weak due to needing my diabetic shot. I was very unsatisfied with this service. The room was decent, but next time I’m staying in Aiken, which is quite a bit, I am going to bypass the Howard Johnson. I will bypass all Howard Johnsons. Then I called to make the complaint and the customer service did not report my entire experienced and I felt rushed off the phone. Then the hotel where this nightmare occurred phoned to apologize to state they could offer 15% off my next visit. No thank you, I rather go elsewhere and pay full price. This was such a crazy experience.
"Extended Stay Visit"

Extended stay visit to Granddaughter and Great Grandson's. Broken up in two different stays with a side trip to Florida and back. Basic older facility used by transient work crews. Plus for us had a pool and an extended stay rate. On a major street so had close by access to restaurants, shopping, etc. Very pleasant staff. No major problems for an older site.
