Tiergarten, an expanse of greenery located in the city centre, is Berlin's largest park and features the Reichstag, Brandenburg Gate, Victory Column, Bellevue Palace, Soviet Memorial and the zoo. Extensive renovation of the government quarter along the Spree, including Potsdamer Platz and the main train station, has spread to land that was formerly the border zone. The park is popular with runners year round and outdoor food vendors in summer.

"More comfort than at home"

We aren't into high-end hotels for their own sake, but we will always stay at a Kempinski hotel if one is available. Like others we have stayed at, the Hotel Adlon offers a courteous, respectful, complete luxury experience, and doesn't even break a sweat doing so.

"Great experience"

This hotel has quite a history: built in the early 1900s, destroyed during World War II, behind the Berlin Wall until 1990 and rebuilt according to the original plans in 1997. Located next to the Brandenburg gate, I felt as if I had arrived in the lap of luxury. Staff was extremely accommodating. Location was within a very short walk of everything. Outstanding experience.

The Adlon is a first rate hotel located adjacent to the Brandenburg gates...Plan to be at the Adlon December 31 2009.... because Unter der Linden, the main Avenue which passes into what was once East Berlin, is secured from general trafffic and the general public directly in front of the Adlon which translates into only guests at the Adlon have access to the plaza in front of the magnificent Brandenburg Gates for the dynamic show of fireworks and lazars signaling the new year. The staff at the Adlon is first rate...courteous and friendly assisting from renting bikes to tour Berlin..a very good idea..to obtaining tickets to the symphony /opera/or esoteric art tours.Theyu also have a spa and sauna which was immaculate and refreshing...

The Adlon is right beside the Brandeburg Gate on Parisiier Platz which is a beautiful square within reach of most sight seeing locations. On arrival, we were met most warmly and immediately brought to our room by the receptionist. The service was brilliant and the room really comfortable and spacious.We had bathrobes, water, chocolates etc. The lobby at night had a great atmosphere to have a drink and was really busy but again the service was excellent. The only downside was the prices in the bar and restaurants (one is a Michelin star). But we ate out in retaurants and decided that a drink or two at night was worth the prices for the great comfort and service. One of the best hotels we have ever stayed in. Berlin itself is a most interesting and historic city and before Christmas has the great Christmas markets. Germans really do Christmas well.

"Classy Hotel, Very Subdued"

This hotel was a pleasure to stay in! The Lobby has a lovely lounge where you can people watch and chill out after a long day doing sight seeing or conferences. They conveniently serve food late at night. The staff caters to your every need, and are extremely kind. The hotel is VERY centrally located for sight seeing, museum island is within walking distance and the Brandenburg gate (next to the hotel) is a scene during the day but ever so gentle to rest your eyes on at night!

The staff were extremely helpful without being obsequious. Great tradition and location. My only complaint is that the king bed had two twin mattresses and thus a crack in the middle.

Ett fantastiskt härligt city hotel mitt i Berlin. Härliga rum, stor pool och spa avdelning samt allt beläget 100m från Brandenburger Torg. Servicen var även precis så bra som man önskade.

Prime hotel in a prime location, expensive but well worth the money. On the downside was only the expensive breakfeast... and the main entrance carpet looked somewhat dull...everything else including the well appointed spa was excellent!
