"3 Nights at Andaman"
A great resort with excellent amenities. The service was impeccable, and every interaction we had with the staff was friendly, and professional. The F&B Manager (Teufik), also opened the breakfast buffet earlier on our departure day for us to enjoy their world-class breakfast.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Most relaxing atmosphere you could imagine!"
The service and comfort was amazing! I have never had resort staff so interested in making sure your stay at the hotel is the best it could be, but also that your stay on the island is the best it could be!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Beautiful hotel, a bit aged and a bit pricey for a 4 star hotel, however saying that i arrived early and i was also upgraded to a partial sea-view room, the staff were really friendly, lots of things for kids to do, the pool is great as they have a water slide to keep the kids entertained for hours on end. They have many restaurants but are pricey , […] the hotel is located in a very secluded part of the island and as a result travelling cost is high, i recon if travelling with young kids , get the SPG kids pass....... Not much to do in the resort, other than to relax, all the restaurants served good food even though they were expensive..... would definitely come here again Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"RIDICULOUSLY OVERPRICED and no malaysian taste"
RIDICULOUSLY OVERPRICED, ISOLATED AND NO MALAYSIAN TASTE AT ALL!! Better to stay away!!! It was my 7th time in beautiful Langkawi, this was the worst and most expensive hotel I stayed. I think most of us like Malaysia also because: 1)it's easy and cheap to go everywhere 2)local people are not always trying to sell you something 3)food is delicious and […] cheap. Everywhere in Langkawi is like that, but not at The Andaman. This property is completely isolated, there are no shops, spas or restaurant around so mostly you have to eat and buy things inside the hotel, where every price is ridiculously overpriced (es: outside you can have a very good meal for less than 10 MRG, here every morning at breakfast they will annoy you trying to sell their event dinner for "just" 180+ MRG!!!). And belive me, the taste of food is less than averege, and actually they don't even serve real malysian food, just some kind of not well distinguishable asian food. The waitress serving breakfast was very rude and unfriendly. Almost all the staff is not malaysian but there are many indonesian trainee. This hotel could be everywhere in the world, there is nothing that make you think about Malaysia. You would like to escape to Cenang beach (50 min away), where you can find everything and normal prices but they will bring just 10 peolple!!! there just once in 2 or 3 days and just in the morning!! Ridiculous! They should provide the service at least every 30 minutes and for every guest! ORRIBLE EXPERIENCE Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Deserve every star"
The best hotel i ever stayed with. I stayed there for five days and nothing to complain about. Everything is perfect. We have tea, coffee, espresso everyday. the kids can enjoy their time between the beach and swimming pool. The location is far from the airport or from city center but they have shuttle service everyday. Make sure that you book early […] as most of the time its fully booked. At the end it was a pleasant stay at Andaman. For sure i would like to return again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Beautiful, but very Isolated"
This is a lovely hotel, but, VERY from from everything. The pool was fantastic. Beautiful and perfect for kids. They have a slide that kept my 3 busy for hours and the design of the pool is very pretty. I felt each individual staff member at this hotel was very helpful/friendly, but, overall, they need to get a few things together and be more organized. […] There are not enough maids for the hotel when it's full and considering the price you are paying, you should get your room cleaned up before late afternoon. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Review from Sri Lanka"
The massage and the spa treatment at the hotel are very good and worth trying out. The nature walk at the hotel was interesting and we had fun learning about different plant and bird species, even though the actual walk itself was very short and within the hotel compound. The Hotel is beautifully located on Datai Bay (in the Northern part of the Island) […] and surrounded by rainforest. This also meant it took time to get to other activities like shopping in Kuah Town, Cable Car and Island Hopping. The best way to get around is to rent a car - it is relatively cheap and easy and can be rented at the airport upon arrival. The Hotel also provides shuttle service to Kuah Town on a daily basis. It is such a small Island and we found it only takes 45mins to go from one end of the island to the other! My husband and I were vegetarians and we appreciated the Wellness 'V' menu that the Hotel offers as well as the flexibility of the Chefs to customise and create dishes to your taste and liking. One draw back at this hotel is the quality of service at front desk and house keeping. Our bills were not accurate and included payment for things we hadn't purchased. On arrival, we felt unwelcome and shoved to the corner whilst no one even greeted or spoke to us and we were told to wait. Had no idea when & if the room would be ready and after 30mins we were shown to our rooms which turned out to be entirely different to what we had booked. It is yet another large hotel - not boutique. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"One of the best hotels in Langkawi"
The facilities of the hotel are great, unfortunately slightly run down. Nevertheless, the location, in the beautiful Datai Bay, surrounded by the jungle and even in the hotel itself, with the ubiquitous greenery and wild animals make it a very memorable experience. The food is also very good, the pool is big, the employees very kind. The bathroom in […] the room must have been renovated very recently, resulting in a very chic one. If this is not the best hotel in Langkawi (which actually might be The Datai, in the Datay Bay too), for sure it is in the top 5!! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"A remote gem"
While the hotel is in a secluded area on Langkawi, it sits on some amazing grounds. I enjoyed walking on the private mile long everyday and cherished the sounds of the rainforest. Given its remoteness, it is a chore getting out of the resort. There are no decent public transportation and everything is at least a 20 minute drive. Therefore, exploring […] other parts of the island can be difficult without a car. The resort is well kept and quite low key. The main pool can get noisy if there are too many kids in the resort. The room was clean and well kept for a hotel at this caliper. The decor was a simple and chic. The breakfast/brunch was amazing. The variety and quality never got old. I highly recommend the Nasi Lemak and squid sambal. If you're looking to get away for a quiet vacation and don't mind being away from everything, you really can't go wrong with Andaman. Response by The Andaman, a Luxury Collection Resort, Langkawi Thank you for your kind comments and for taking the time to post this review. I am happy to know that you enjoyed our location and the sound of rainforest, which we do think is unique to this little corner of Langkawi. I am delighted to know that your rooms were comfortable and clean. It is true that our location is away from the busy hubs of Kuah and Pantai Cenang. Many of our guests prefer this location because it is so peaceful and quiet – and perfect for relaxing. I do agree with your suggestion to hire a car to explore the island. Langkawi roads are in good conditions and it is very easy to find your way around. We have a car hire company based at the hotel for the convenience of our guests and we also offer a complimentary return shuttle service runs alternative days to Kuah or to Pantai Cenang. I do note your comment regarding children around the pool. Certainly, we have more “little guests” around during school holidays…but rest assured that there are always quiet corners to be found at The Andaman, in which to relax and unwind. It is kind of you to mention the range and quality of our food especially the nasi lemak and squid sambal . Our new Executive Chef just started 4 months ago and we’re already enjoying some great feedback about the new changes that the kitchen team is producing these days. Thank you again for taking the time to post these comments. Your feedback is valued and appreciated. . I do hope that we may welcome you back on Langkawi again in the future. With kind regards

Hotel is average and in need of a remodeling. Rooms are tired and bathrooms work about half the time. But, located on the best beach on the island.Genuine Expedia guest review
Response by The Andaman, a Luxury Collection Resort, Langkawi Thank you for choosing The Andaman for your recent stay on Langkawi, and also for taking the time to post this review. All guest comments are read, reviewed and valued. I appreciate your time. I acknowledge your comments regarding the condition of The Andaman including the room and bathroom – and I am happy to advise that we have recently begun a specific and extensive Capital investment programme. Our team on property are committed to driving this plan forward – as well as managing it carefully and positively so that guests still enjoy a comfortable and relaxing stay with us. Guests arriving at The Andaman will continue to notice completed projects and improved services every time they visit. The heat and humidity of Langkawi with so much natural wood in our construction (floors, furniture, pillars, balustrades et al), it is an all-consuming task to keep everything looking tip-top. Notwithstanding that, I know that our physical presentation and elegance is important- and I am personally committed to ensuring that our plans for refreshing and upgrading The Andaman continues apace. Thank you again for taking the time to share your comments from your stay at The Andaman. I do hope that we may welcome you back on Langkawi again in the future. With kind regards
"Animals, animals, but terrible concierge!"
If you want to stay in a nice resort and have the opportunity to see SE Asian wildlife in abundance, then this is your place. The location is fairly isolated so if you want nightlife, this is not the place to stay (Phuket is just up the coast). The service was a little shaky at times. Around the pool and restaurants, the staff was great, but the concierge […] desk was worse than useless. They promised confirmation of various transportation and activity reservations, but NEVER delivered and their concierges could barely understand English, which reveals weak management. However, overall, I recommend this place for its good fitness center with activity classes like yoga, spinning, etc., its exceptional location with a beautiful beach that is almost private, and the scenery, which is spectacular. The grounds are beautifully maintained and the wildlife (monkeys, flying lemurs, hornbills) can be see right from one's room. This place is a nature lover's paradise. Also, the restaurant food is quite good, but can be expensive unless you purchase a special package that includes meals. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by The Andaman, a Luxury Collection Resort, Langkawi Thank you for your kind comments and for taking the time to post this review. It is correct to note that The Andaman is isolated and away from the town; as well night entertainment. There are other corners of Langkawi that are busier and livelier, however we think that The Andaman is the ideal escape for guests who will enjoy a rainforest retreat with incredible wildlife. Your constructive comment about the services of our ambassadors around the pool and restaurant are duly noted. I was sad to read your comments describing your experience with our concierge. We reviewed your feedback as a team, and we each took a number of learnings – both regarding the services and communication; as well as our responsiveness to your request. We apologise for your disappointment. Thank you for your kind comments about our fitness centre. Our brand new Gym opened recently and really does offer state of the art facilities as well as personal training and yoga sessions. It is kind of you to mention about the beach, rainforest, wildlife, scenery and our beautiful ground. We are especially pleased given that we pride ourselves in maintaining the virginal qualities of the nature and environment while operating a busy world class hotel; it is a delicate balance … It is kind of you to mention about our food quality. I acknowledge your comments regarding our pricing. Please rest assured that we do continue to monitor our prices to make sure that we are in line with other 5 star hotels on the island. It’s important to me that our guests receive value for money. I am very grateful for your feedback. Thank you again for taking the time to share these comments.
"Beautiful location, but not true luxury"
This hotel is located in the beautiful Datai Bay, and there's nothing around it but rainforest (and another high-end resort which is almost like an extension of the Andaman). The private beach is gorgeous and there is lots of wildlife (nothing dangerous though). The cheaper rooms are quite dark and you'll have to turn on the lights even during the day. […] The resort is clean and well maintained, but some facilities are starting to show wear and tear. The service is good overall, but inconsistent (one day we found that our room hadn't been made up until 6 or 7 pm when it was already time for the turn-down). The restaurant staff I was very polite and only once got our drink order mixed up. The meals were tasty but, as is always the case with such resorts, overpriced. The ambience at the beach bar/restaurant was well worth it though. There were other minor issues, like the concierge forgetting to sign us up for a tour (we managed to get in, so it wasn't a big deal). It wasn't a near perfect stay, which is what one might expect from the Luxury Collection. However, it was relaxing and once you're lying there on the beach you'll feel like in paradise and all those little details won't matter. I'd recommend this hotel for couples and families, not for younger people looking to party as it's rather quiet. Don't miss their free nature walks! They're fun and a good way to meet other guests. Response by The Andaman, a Luxury Collection Resort, Langkawi Thank you for your kind remarks and for taking the time to post your review on Expedia.com I am delighted that you enjoyed the location. There are only 2 hotels in this little corner of Langkawi and so it does mean that guests enjoy virtual exclusive use of 1.5 km of white sand beach. This 10 million year old rainforest does provide the most amazing backdrop against which to enjoy a luxury holiday and witness wonderful wildlife up close. I note your comments regarding the condition of your room – and I am happy to advise that the programme for upgrading our guests rooms has already begun. Guests arriving at The Andaman will continue to see improvements in our guests rooms and resort facilities on all future stays. I apologise if our turndown service was inconsistent during your stay. We reviewed your comments as a team and we cannot think of any valid reason for this lapse in service. Please accept my apologies. I do apologise as our concierge forgot to sign you up for a tour. I offer no excuses. We need to do better. I acknowledge your comments regarding our food pricing. It is not our intention to manipulate our location with unreasonable pricing. We do benchmark our menu pricing with the other 5 star hotels on the island in order to ensure they are fair. Kudos to you for doing the nature walks – a complimentary service to all in-house guests. We really do encourage all guests to do this activity – and they often comment that this really did enrich their rainforest experience. Thank you again for taking the time to share your comments from your stay at The Andaman. I do hope that we may welcome you back on Langkawi again in the future.
"Dated; needs renovation"
This place is way overpriced for the services and facilities offered. Frankly, we paid 1.5x the standard room price for a room with a so-called "Lanai"--instead, it was a claustrophobic deck that we never even set foot on. If you're going to book here, only pay for the lowest caliber room. Also, keep in mind that this place is overrun with children. "Secluded and peaceful"
Resort is tucked away in a secluded part of the island, perfect if you want to get away from it all and lounge by the beach or pool all day. "Wonderful Hotel IN the jungle!"
Superb facilities in a calm resort literally surrounded by jungle and the best beach in Langkawi. The time here was just perfect and although the hotel is somewhat isolated, we had a car so could drive the 30-45 minutes to other eateries in the evening - most notably Wonderland in Kuah, probably the best seafood you'll ever taste, at absurdly reasonable […] prices. "Memorable Andaman weekend"
Beautiful environment, nice beach, pleasant staff with good communications. All made our brief holiday a most memorable one.Genuine Expedia guest review
A truly luxurious, magical and relaxing break at The Andaman. The service was outstanding - every member of the staff was welcoming, courteous, knowledgable, friendly and accommodating. The restaurants and bars servered fresh, high quality food and drinks and were all reasonably priced. The Jala seafood restaurant is a must, especially for a romantic […] beachside dinner. The Spa is phenomenal - overlooking the bay with the sounds of the waves and rainforest around you. It's a little pricey compared with some of the spas in Pentai Cenang for example but the difference in the treatment quality and overall experience is noticeable. Datai Bay is without a doubt the most amazing part of langkawi. This is the place to come if you're after a relaxing beachside holiday. It is quite isolated from the rest of the island but there's not a great deal to see or do - and hiring a car from the resort for the day will get you around to the main attractions easily and cheaply. Only criticism would be that the wifi in the hotel hardly worked - having Internet access was the last of our list of priorities but do think it's something that should be spot on in a place like this. Would also loved to have had the opportunity to eat some more Malaysian food - the menu at The Restaurant was predominantly western which was a shame we thought! We loved our stay and only wished it was longer. Hope to be back to see the resort once the north wing is constructed. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

I travelled solo to the hotel for a weekend to escape the smog in Singapore. Having stayed at the Westin previously, the Andaman is a little older and in some parts a little tired, but you cannot beat the location, the beach and the views. But the thing that sets the Andaman apart is really the impeccable service. Without exception, every single staff […] member I encountered was fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble for them, and little extras kept appearing in my room - including a fruit platter, fresh waterfall water, a bottle of red wine and some chocolates. The fish restaurant on the beach was a delight, the fish caught that day, and cooked to perfection and was very reasonably priced. Upon arrival, they were able to fit me in immediately for a 3 hour pampering session. I felt utterly spoilt and pampered after a quick 2 nights stay. I will be back! "Excellent service, room a bit tired."
We had an enjoyable long weekend at The Andaman in Langkawi. The service was excellent throughout, and the staff very friendly. Our room was a bit tired, and not what I'd expect from a hotel of this standard; cracked and warped floor boards and marks on the ceiling but thankfully that did not spoil our stay. The location is beautiful, on a great beach […] surrounded by rainforest- we did the complimentary coral walk which was interesting. There is nothing else here though, so we ate at the hotel every evening. The beach restaurant was excellent, not cheap for Malaysia, but reasonable for a hotel (around £8 for a started and £15-£20 for a main course). We were disappointed with food in the main restaurant however. Breakfast was plentiful and of a good standard, and as we had to leave early for our flight, was delivered to our room at no extra charge on our last day. There is work going on to the east wing of the hotel, but this does not affect the serenity, and will hopefully address some of the decorative issues in the rooms mentioned above. "Nice but not up to its rating"
For what you pay, I have stayed in similar style/quality hotels and found this one to be a little lacking in attention to detail- what I'd expect in this price range. Delay in checking in and when arrived in room, no complementary water, bath robe or slippers. The coffee machine not working( this was exchanged promptly however the water took an hour […] to get to me, after a few calls. There were some staff cleaning rubbish on the beach, which seems to gather constantly. So this might need more staff or more frequent cleaning. Housekeeping didn't replace all of the products daily in the room which I didn't trouble me as I was traveling solo but again, for 5 star rating and price I wouldn't expect this oversight. Unless you have a boat, there isn't a great deal to do on Langkawi, so for us it's the sort of place you go for a short, relaxing getaway. "The BEST resort in Langkawi, hands down!"
The Andaman is a fantastic, unique resort in that it provides the excellent service of a 5 star facility but also has an eco-tourism bent to it that is very refreshing and encouraging to see in an asian country. It is the only resort in Langkawi set in a rainforest AND has its own beachfront with coral reef, making for fantastic wildlife viewing including […] snorkelling. They have complimentary rainforest walks morning and evening to spot wildlife, a coral nursery, complimentary gym and yoga classes and complimentary daily shuttles to Cenai beach and Kuah town if you want to be where the crowds are. The pool is lovely and cool to swim in and has its own waterslide for the kids. I loved swimming in the calm ocean til the water got too warm then I'd move to the pool. The staff are ever-friendly, courteous and eager to please without exception. The food was excellent, especially the sashimi at the Japanese restaurant. The seaview rooms are extremely generously sized and comfortable, the turndown service was a pleasant surprise. I would definitely return here for a relaxing, easy holiday and recommend it very highly. I also subsequently stayed at The Westin which I felt although bigger, was inferior to the Andaman. "The Andaman, Langkawi - very special"
Wonderful hotel, fantastic location. On arrival we found we had been upgraded, check-in was very smooth and our room was exceptional. The staff are attentive, friendly and helpful without being intrusive. The wildlife around the resort, both in the forest and on the reef were an absolute joy. The range of restaurants and bars provided enough variety […] for our seven day stay. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
great location: quite remote, right on the beach, surrounded by rainforest. great spa: perfect view, lovely staff. restaurants ok: service can be a little 'relaxed' but food is excellent (if a little pricey). cant wait to return...Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The location is great in terms of having access to a quiet private unspoilt beach, however, the hotels location is far from everything else. Taxis are required to get you to shops and other restaurants and these are not cheap. The cost of meals and drinks are expensive. The Spa was amazing, I have been to many in London and I believe this to be the […] best one yet! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Exceeded expectations on all fronts. Fantastic location and very friendly staff. Pristine beaches and untouched tropical forests with lots of flora n fauna. Only drawback was the lack of good vegetarian options. But overall great place to relax n unwindGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Luxury at an affordable price."
We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights following a whirlwind tour of Kuala Lumpur, Hanoi & Phomn Penh. The intention was to chill out for a short while before we started our long haul back to N.Ireland which would involve three consecutive flights. For this purpose the hotel was ideal. Some areas are clearly in need of a refurb. however there was considerable […] work going on while we were there so presumably management are aware of this issue. All in all the choice was perfect & we couldn't fault the location of or service from the hotel. P.S. If you want to swim in the sea bring some rubber shoes to wear as there is quite a bit of loose coral still being washed up on the beaches following damage to reefs by the wave from the Tsunami of a couple of years ago. This tends to collect just at the point where waves break & can be quite painful to walk on. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"The Andaman - great realxing time in Langkawi"
Andaman stay in October 2012 for 2 adults. Staff were very friendly. Part of resort still being upgraded: roof, south wing, pool bar, entrance road. This really didn't affect us too much - most of time out and about or down at beach. Maintenance needs to catch up a bit - some bubbling paint in room, basin tap wobbly and some rotten bits of wood located […] around the place. Loved the breakfast and dinner buffets. Beach great and relaxing. Great seeing wildlife around the resort - monkeys, squirrels, lemurs, hornbills. Free nature walk in morning is great introduction and the guide is very knowledgeable. Overall great relaxing time. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
