Room was comfortable. Free parking a TOTAL PLUS in this city. We went on a Tuesday night, so there were no problems like others state...the parking lot is not huge, but we had no problems at all. The lady at the front desk is not the nicest person on the earth, but not the worst either. Free danish and cereal for breakfast was a nice little bonus, and […] we were able to walk to local restaurants for lunch and dinner. We walked to the Warfield for a concert...saved us lots of money. I'll stay here again next time. Easy to get to off the freeway, safe neighborhood (Tenderloin is close by, but they've cleaned it up a bit, not as scary as it used to be). Bus stop is close by. I wanted to stay in Downtown SF at a decent hotel, but at an affordable price. This hotel was just perfect to my requirement. I stayed there for 4 nights, and I am happy I chose this place. The property looked kind of old, but rooms are maintained well. My room was clean & big enough for a couple. The room ambiance (specially colors) was kind of classic. […] It included all the required amenities like microwave, refrigerator, iron & ironing board, coffee machine, etc. It serves complimentary breakfast, but that's just minimal: cereals, cold milk, coffee/tea, bread-butter-jam, pastry, and one fruit. This is just what I needed for starting my day. While the hotel location is close to downtown places, it's not that bad to a downtown experience. It becomes lonely after sunset, and does not look safe walking around; there are lot of homeless people around. For food, there are good number of restaurants & bars around in walking distance. Parking is free at the hotel, but there are not much parking lots. If all rooms are full, you may not get a parking space. Good thing is you can move around in SF without a car, in fact that is recommended. There is a bus-stop at the corner of the hotel and it can take you to other connecting stations. The BART station is also near-by. If you are traveling with family & children, there is nothing much at hotel or around. If you are visiting SF and will be out most of your day, this is nice place for stay. Read more

The nastiest surliest front desk staff I have ever met. I asked how to use the remote control. Answer:"you have a Tv at home don't you? Also they don't have a parking space for everyroom and so parking is not guaranteed they told me one morning when there was np place to park on site. Caveat emptot!

The bedroom was clean, the beds comfortable. The continetal breakfast was minimum, you can hardly call it that. The staff was dreadful, very unfriendly and right down rude.Unless you are bookin a last minute deal and there is no other hotel available, I reccomend that you stay somwhere else if at all possible.

I highly recommend this hotel if you are not looking for a 5 star hotel. Of course it is not the Highest quality hotel, but it is a great hotel for a vacation. Walked to the opera house at night with streets well lit. 21 Hayes bus line in front of hotel takes you to The Ferry Building at the end of the line. Check its various shops and next, with your transfer in hand, take an antique street car (F […] Line) to Pier 39 or Fisherman's Wharf. Senior Muni fares 75 cents. Adults $2.00. Exact change only. Bus line 5 up two blocks from motel takes you to the center of Golden Gate Park, De Young Museum, Tea Garden, etc. (Tenth Street stop) The hotel's two maps were much appreciated. Forget your diet and splurge on nearby restaurants on Hayes. Hotel is really a motel. "If it doesn't move paint it" seems to be their philosophy. Four day stay for us two seniors. Wish they had hand holds in shower/bath. Basic continental breakfast. No space in office/breakfast area to sit and eat. Bring your room tray with you and load up. Our third floor room (used the elevator) was quiet. We are looking forward to doing the whole trip again. Dining in SF is always a delight. Don't look for McD's or any other chain type eateries in area. With all the money you saved on the room and parking and using the bus, you can, guilt free, splurge on all the city's many dining delights. The motel is in the middle of Hayes Valley area. The one bedroom king room is the size of a shoe box. Once we unloaded both suitcases there was no floor space in the room. From the bed I could literally step into the closet and bathroom. Good hotel for the money. Very close to opera house and civic center. Bus stop nearby. The neighborhood was a little run down on that block of Grove St. But nice just two blocks over towards the opera house. Easy bus ride to Fisherman's Wharf.

Stayed here for 4 nights. Good location in terms of access to public transportation and some attractions (e.g. AT&T Ballpark). Some might not like strolling Market Street especially late at night on the way home with kids. Hotel itself was absolutely OK.

If you are looking for a hotel will all the amenities, a big spacious room, and near all the SF tourist sites, keep looking. If instead you want a basic hotel (at a cheaper rate for SF) that is near public transportation, and in a realistic SF neighborhood, this may meet your needs. On the plus side its cheap for SF, is close to public transportation, and has some parking spots which are free (there are also some lots available nearby too). You are actually in a neighborhood, with small restaurants, coffee shops, and bars that the locals frequent. In other words, a real non-tourist version of San Francisco. One thing to be aware of, is that there is not a parking space for every room. I called hotels.com to ask about this (who then called the hotel itself) and I was informed that there was ample free parking. That is certainly could not true on weekends or popular events, so I felt lied to regarding this fact. However, the room was clean and reasonably quiet. Wonderful location and clean rooms. We needed a hotel near the Civic Center that had free parking, and this hotel couldn't have been better! The rate was fine, rooms were clean, location was close to public transportation (close to buses, underground Muni station at Van Ness, and about 8 blocks from BART).
