I've stayed at the Raffaello before, and always had a great experience. This trip got off to a bit of a rough start...very loud ac in the room, and I had been placed next to an elevator. However, kudos to management. They were extremely helpful, and immediately moved me to a better location. The rooms are equipped with a mini-fridge, which is very conveinent. […] I did order bfast for room service one morning and the omelette showed up within 10 min...perfect! Great location walking distance to the lake. If you have chemical sensitivities, be sure to recommend housekeeping doesn't spray your room with fragrance before you arrive...my eyes immediately turned red when I got to my room. I would have loved this hotel, had I been greeted and better serviced from the front desk staff - particularly Jose. I arrived early and asked (even offered to pay the fee) for an early check in. The hotel has a great location and a comfortable bed and the staff was friendly. I found getting ready in the morning frustrating. Overall the stay was average. The service upon arrival by the valet was poor and unwelcoming. As we arrived the service of the valet was low-passion and short. We were not offered baggage assistance, no one opened the door for us with hands full of baggage. The front desk was average. We loved the Raffaelo! We had never been to chicago before and really enjoyed our stay! We got in almost at midnight and the front desk gave us menus for delivery until 3 am. The Raffaello is located adjacent to the Hancock Center and all the activities Chicago has to offer. We did not need our car to move around the area, as we were near all the activities we were looking for, great restaurants, shopping, taverns and more. "Great location and service"
The location is great! It is located just off Michigan Avenue behind the Hancock Building. The service was great too. Upon check in our room was upgraded, we received multiple text messages to see if we were satisfied and if we needed anything. Parking is available at the Seneca Hotel on Chestnut Street which is right behind the Raffaello. It is valet […] parking too but it is much cheaper than the valet parking offered by the hotel. It literally is less than one minute walk from the hotel. The only downside was the room. The bathroom door stuck and would not lock, the layout of the bathroom was awkward, and the air conditioner would not work (it wasn't extremely hot so we just opened the windows). First of all, I would say don't stay in this hotel. There were problems from the beginning. No early check in, charged my card for $200 "incidentals" (which after 1 week has still not been credited back to my account). Room was cold (consistent with other ratings). We did ask for-and were given-blankets. Only opportunity for breakfast was room service […] which was quite expensive (we went to a restaurant nearby). I didn't find the staff to be particularly friendly-although they weren't rude. The general condition of the hotel was run down and the elevators could not comfortably fit in more than 3 people they were so tiny. The only redeeming quality of this hotel is that it is close to the Magnificent Mile and the John Hancock building. "Great location between the Mag Mile and the Lake."
We stayed three nights. This is a boutique hotel, set in an older building with 17 floors. We upgraded to a suite and the room was huge. Very clean and well appointed. King bed, large bath (shower only), sleeper sofa in suite, small bar/kitchen with sink/fridg/microwave. Stocked minibar. Pelago italian restaurant is just off the lobby. Dinner was delicious […] and expensive. Also, great little bar there. Excellent service. Went to DrumBar on top floor with extensive list of cocktails and huge whiskey menu (although 2 of 3 ordered were out of stock). Coffee/donut shop on site. I stayed at the Raffaello on 2 different occasions in the same week. The first time, I had an unpleasant experience with the front desk. A manager reached out to me after check out and ask how my experience was about my stay. I told him about my experience at the front desk, he apologized and then proceeded to upgrade me to a suite for my next stay! […] I could not have been happier with the service I got at this hotel. The rooms were clean and the bed was the most comfortable. What was also most convenient is that you can directly text message the front desk and they can bring you whatever you need or answer any questions. Also, the view from the rooms of this hotel may not be as spectacular, but the location makes up for it. The front desk staff we in a hurry to check you in an ignored all your questions. While waiting in line we watched another worker sitting at a desk and not helping to register guests. The hotel book did not have current information. For example, we planned on ordering room service based on the hours listed in the book and then upon calling and no one […] answering, we learned that room service closed an hour earlier than the posted time.
