"Affordable and great location"
Loved the room. Very comfortable, good coffee pot in room. Check in/out was seemless. Very good location, close to many great things. Staff was very friendly.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Close to the lake"
the room was very nice, and the free upgrade of Wi-Fi due to a broken phone was unexpected, and greatly appreciated. I would have loved to stay longer.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Everything you need in Chicago!"
The hotel was very nice, conveniently located to subway, shopping, restaurants, etc. The room was large and clean with nice bedding. The bathroom was a little small with limited shelf space for toiletries which really bugs my husband. We really appreciated the microwave and fridge. We would stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to everything"
Our HVAC was either very cold or would not work. We called about it and nothing was done. Pull out bed for my kids (not the murphy bed) was horrible.Genuine Expedia guest review
We needed a place to stay the night before our movers arrived with our furniture. When we asked about adding a roll-away they upgraded us no charge to a suite with a pull-out sofa and a twin Murphy bed. The room was great space but sadly devoid of furniture or taste.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The Hotel was awesome and the location was perfect. I will definitely stay here again when I come back.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Right in the heart of the Magnificent mile"
Our family enjoyed our stay at the Raffaello this summer. My husband is a wheel chair user, and we found your location to be perfect. The elevator was a bit small, but it worked out fine. The accessible room could have been a bit larger, but the bathroom was great. Overall, we loved our stay!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great boutique hotel in a great location"
This is a great boutique hotel in a great location--within one block of John Hancock Center and Michigan Avenue. The rooms were surprisingly large. The only complaint is that they were having trouble with their phone system--or were having a new system installed--and it was impossible to get through to the front desk, room service, etc.Genuine Expedia guest review
very nice, good price, comfy, excellent location, 2 minutes to lake michigan, great staff.Genuine Expedia guest review

"A few changes"
We have stayed here several times before.......this stay the least pleasing. King room was a closet, went to complain clerk said in the past we had been comped a suit because they were not full, this time they were full. she did up grade to a larger King room which was exceptable. We actually had two rooms reserved they up graded that as well but our […] other party couldn't get in until 430 PM. The elevator has a annoying feature that you can't put in a floor unless you slide your room key pad into elevator, which usually takes about five times before you can hit the button for your floor....if your hands are full....bad idea, must of had safety problem in past. Other change is the new drumbar on 18th floor, we got two free drink tickets at check in but when we went to apply toward our drinks we were told ONLY their specialty drinks are covered. Oh another surprise two jack on the rocks.....four grand marnjay's the size of a shot in each bill $77.00 dollars.....drinks were 12.00 bucks a piece. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Response by Raffaello Hotel As always, our guest's time and effort put into providing a review online is always encouraged and much appreciated. Also much appreciated is your continued patronage with us here at The Raffaello Hotel. In your own past experiences you know that we dedicate ourselves in providing our guests with all that we can, to make sure their accommodations are nothing but perfect while staying here. The Raffaello Hotel has an old world charm through out the property. Included in that are the original cozy elevators that we have in our lobby for our guests. Our guest's safety is of the utmost importance to us. That is why the elevators only provide floor access to our hotel guests via their room key. We are very proud of our cocktail lounge Drumbar, which features some of the most incredible hand crafted cocktails in Chicago. We want all of its patrons to have the opportunity to indulge in one of those delicious and truly unique cocktails. We hope to see you back again and enjoying one of those cocktails soon.
overall very good. Only 2 small elevators, so you always had to wait...and they were almost always crowded.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Classic Gold Coast Boutique Hotel **A+**"
I visit Chicago once a month. Had a wonderful stay at the Raffaello. Staff was very attentive and helpful. One of the best locations in Streeterville, easy access to all Gold Coast destinations. **Extremely convenient.** The building is old or "historic" but kept up well. Romantic, old-world feel meets modern convenience. Gourmet doughnut shop, "Glazed […] and Infused" located in the lobby. I threw a surprise birthday party at DrumBar, the rooftop bar located on the 18th floor. DrumBar staff and managers were *HIGHLY accommodating* and very helpful. Can't wait to book my next stay at the Raffaello. **Classic Chicago boutique hotel.** Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We stayed for 3 nights for a visit with family. The hotel is very convenient to Michigan Ave. Very nice decor thru out the hotel. We received great service from everyone in the hotel. Room was very comfortable, we had a suite where 3 of us stayed. There were a few things we were disappointed with however. The bathroom facilities were very unsatisfactory, […] no fan @ all so after every show taken we had to wait a bit before the next person could use. The bathroom mirrors would steam up terribly. It was just a very small bathroom for a suite. The shower has quite a strange program with no door or curtain, only a glass wall covering half the space. The water would run out all over the floor and get it soaked, not sure why anyone would ever design a shower stall this way. The A/C unit in the room was extremely noisy and kept all 3 of us awake alot thru out the 3 nights we stayed. It also never seemed to get as cold as we would have liked it and we had it set as low as it would go, and it was highs of mid 70's all the time we were there, we were just glad it wasn't hotter outside. Elevator was extremely small, but quick once you got on. Very small lobby with not much sitting area. We also wished the donut shop would have opened earlier so we could get coffee. We ended up leaving the hotel and walking to the Westin every morning to get coffee, cause the donut shop didn't open till 7:30. Overall we had a nice stay and would probably stay there again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great location and staff"
It was great. The staff was very knowledgeable and courteous. We arrived before check-in around noon time at the hotel and our room was not ready. The staff offered to keep our luggage until our room become available. We went to get some lunch and we got a call an hour later that our room was ready. As soon as we walked into the hotel room we could […] help noticing how small it was. We kept thinking it would be very uncomfortable to stay in that room for 6 days. We were tired at this point and wanted to rest. The next day we stopped at the front desk to find out if another room might be available. We explained to the lady that we wanted see about a different room because the one we got was too small, too close to the elevator, and wanted a room that was not facing the sunrise. She gave us keys for 2 rooms and asked us to go check them out. We did not realize the keys were to the suites that we actually wanted but could not afford the prices. We went back and asked how much more we have to pay for the upgrade. We were very surprise when she told us we did not have pay more money for any one of those two suites. So Raffaello made our experience much better in Chicago. I will recommend Raffaello to everyone looking for great experience. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Response by Raffaello Hotel Great review! We at The Raffaello always encourage our guests to provide insight on their stay. This allows us to be in touch with our guests and providing the service and hospitality they deserve. I am happy to hear you enjoyed our prime location in the heart of The Gold Coast. Pair that with our warm and friendly staff and there is no place better to be while in Chicago! We hope to have the opportunity in serving you again.
"Getting better every visit."
I have been staying at this hotel off and on for the past six years. I stopped using it as a regular venue because of escalating cost and some mechanical problems with the HV/AC systems in the rooms. Since Meridian has taken over this property, there has be a tremendous upgrade in the property, with amenities that are some of the most popular in the […] city. This has not done anything to drop the price point, but it does give you more value for your dollar. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Response by Raffaello Hotel First let me say thank you for your continued patronage with us here at The Raffaello Hotel. Not to mention the time you took to share such an informative review. The Raffaello exists to continue providing our guests, both new and old with an experience that they can leave with that will keep them coming back. Our building's beautiful charm and attentive staff are here to ensure our guest's return. It seems this is the case with you. Once again, thank you for your support and we look forward to seeing you soon. Hopefully at that time with new and exciting renovations that are certainly on our horizon!
"A Classic Hotel Holds Its Own in Chicago"
You gotta love hoteliers who keep the old hotels humming along. There is such a fine line between "charming" and "dated" - and the Raffaello walks this line with precision. The rooms are lovely and the bathrooms gorgeously updated (no tubs, but that seems to be the case more and more). My one complaint - that valet parking is a breathtaking $60.00 a […] night and self-parking is a block away - was offset by the great customer service (the valet actually told me the price- which I wouldn't have asked - before I made the decision) I self- parked. This hotel has a great location and the rooms were super comfy even for 4 adults. The staff were great, especially Maria the housekeeper and Liz at the front desk. Plan to stay there again when we return to Chicago. The bar on the top floor was beautiful.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Great Magnificent Mile Location"
Friendly staff, excellent location to Magnificent Mile, Beaches and Rush Street.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The location was great---2 blocks from Michigan Ave. and the Cheesecake Factory. However, I find it strange that after paying so much for the room, there were no bath towels anywhere in the hotel at 8pm! When we called the front desk, they said that the laundry service had not delivered yet. They should have had a back-up plan. Also, considering the […] hotel has approx. 200 rooms, they should have more than 2 elevators that hold 8 people each. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
My husband first trip Chicago and I was so happy we picked the Raffaello. Small boutique hotel right down the street from the John Hancock. You couldn't pick a better location. Huge suite! Yes, the bathroom was small and had no counter space, but there was a vanity right outside the bathroom. So, no complaint there. Clean, updated, awesome roof top […] bar, and delicious gourmet donut shop in the lobby. The only complaint (which is very minor) is the front desk and lobby staff are dull. They are curtious, polite, and open the doors for you, but they are not very friendly or welcoming. This hotel was just awesome and I have already raved about it to all my friends. It is a must stay at when visiting the city. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

The outlet in the bathroom did not work, requiring drying and curling ones' hair in other room with small mirror. Despite notifying staff on the first day, the outlet was not repaired for our second day stay. When telling staff as we were checking out, were told, "oh, I forgot". No apology or compensation was offeredGenuine Expedia guest review
We travel to Chicago to visit family several times a year and have stayed at many of the nicer hotels in the Magnificent Mile/Streeterville/Gold Coast area. Our suite at the Raffaello was one of the nicest rooms we've ever booked. The location (right next to the John Hancock Tower) could not be more convenient for shopping and running along the lake. […] The room could have been a one-bedroom apartment with a large living room with a sofa bed, sitting area, desk, and wide-screen TV. The suite included a well-equipped kitchen with a breakfast bar and a Keurig coffee maker. The bedroom was huge with a large closet (there was another large closet in the foyer), a comfortable king size bed, large drawers, another wide-screen TV, and a table with chairs. The bathroom was clean and bright, small but not cramped. The rooftop bar, DrumBar. is hip and popular, and we enjoyed having drinks under the stars. We also enjoyed the coffee/gourmet doughnut shop in the lobby. The service was top-notch throughout the hotel! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great room with a great location"
Only knock on a great experience at this hotel was the roof bar had no peanuts or munchies while sipping your cocktail. Other than that, I highly recommend this hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Rooms are very nice (especially the beds). Unique decorating. Great location. Only down side is small elevators. Try and get close to ground floor and just use the stairs.Genuine Expedia guest review
Our overall stay was great, however the elevators are very tiny and slow so at a busy time the wait was quite lengthy. Other than that it was terrific. Great location.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Was hoping for some "local" restaurants nearby"
All in all, the hotel was very nice. The staff was very friendly also. We always enjoy going to local restaurants with some lively atmosphere and unfortunatly there was nothing within walking distance. Had to settle on the Cheesecake Factory :( The Drumroom was really neat, beer was a bit pricey but to be expected. "Old Hotel Freshened Up"
I recently stayed at Rafaello. The building is old but the property has been renovated to compete against more contemporary boutique hotels. The rooms are well appointed, but I thought that the staff was the weak link. On the morning of checkout, I did not receive my 7:00am wakeup call until 7:35am. Aside from that, great location and value.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Paid top dollar, but only had an average experience. Not bad really - just not worth the money we paid to stay there.Genuine Expedia guest review

The hotel was in a great spot, only about a mile and a half away from Navy Pier, near the shops on the Magnificent Mile, and close to a Divvy Bike rack (a great investment for a day in Chicago!). Our air conditioning didn't seem to work very well, it was all the way up but still hot, and the elevators were very small in the hotel. Overall it was clean […] and a good experience. The bell wait staff was wonderful and very accomodating and helpful. The front desk staff loves to try to charge your room for items you did not use and for parking at a rate higher than the posted amount at the garage. Be very careful about that.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Beautiful rooms and great location."
Room was corner suite with multiple windows. Huge and comfortable. Great location. I used to live in Chicago, and this is one of the better downtown hotels (since their remodel). Easy to jog on the lake and right next to shopping. Roof-top bar is a plus. Dropped a star for the extremely slow elevators that are very small. I have never had to wait in […] a long line for a hotel elevator (with a baby in a stroller). This is a big problem when you have a very popular roof-top bar at your hotel.
