The main reason to visit Hangzhou is to see West Lake, and this hotel is two blocks away. We walked all the way around, twelve miles, but there are pedicabs galore to take you partway around. We booked through Expedia at a rate that did not include breakfast, and the cost to add it was 90¥ (about $15), so we walked 2 blocks to McDonalds and had breakfast for 2, with coffee, for under 30¥. The hotel has western and Chinese restaurants. The western one was quite expensive, so we ate both nights of our stay in the Chinese one. The menu was in English a well as Chinese. We were able to select a healthy assortment of dishes for two for $11 one night, $15 the other. The quality was equivalent to a mid-level restaurant in town, but you could hear live music from the lobby below, a Chinese zither, later a grand piano. The hotel was unwilling to let us use our Ramada Guest Rewards number for points since we booked through Expedia. The room offered us opened to an enclosed atrium. Since the a/c was turned off for the season and the room was already 23 or 24 C (75 F) we had to change to a room that faced the street and had a window that we could open. Hotel was fine except for the beds! It felt like you were sleeping on just a box spring. We did call the front desk and they did bring up a small mattress pad to put on the bed. It helped but was no the best.

A great side trip attached to a visit the Expo 2010. The train service was excellent and there was always a friendly Chinese to help out with the translations. The bullet train was fast and comfortable. Taxis are inexpensive and hotel staff will always provide written Chinese instructions to the driver. English is everywhere to be seen on street signs […] and in the shops. Don't be surprised to have people ask to have a picture taken with them to show their friends and family. If your stuck just say in a loud voice "Does anyone speak English" and several young people will rush to take the opportunity to practice. China is a marvellous place to visit. Run down hotel, needs some serious upgrades. Cheap owner? The heating was not working (central in the hallways was??), weither was the AC (my first room was an oven, second one was an ice box, hence the no heat or AC comment...I was told they were turned off??? (by my interpretor)

The hotel is conveniently located close to the lake and eating places. It has a good selection of cable channels. Breakfast was somewhat expensive. Room looks a bit worn out, but perhaps this is reflected in the room rate. Don't mind staying here again for the reasonable rate and convenient location.

The Haihua Hotel is close to the West Lake. It's a bit old but the room is clean. The concierge staff is really helpful.

Everything is up to satisfaction. Reception helpful and polite. The only drawback is that they agreed late checkout for us but locked the room when we came back. Rather frustrated. They should have told us before the checkout time.

Very convenient location. The lake view room is facing a construction site and we could only see small part of the lake by standing at the window and look to the left hand side. We paid extra money for 3 people and still needed to pay 251 reminbi per night for the extra bed.

The hotel is within 5 minutes walk to the West Lake. I booked a room with lake view with higher price than ordinary room. However, it is facing a construction site and the lake can only be seen by standing at the window and looking to the left hand side. Only a small part of the lake could be seen. Hotellet är bara ca 15 minuter från tågstationen med taxi och ca 3 minuters gående från West Lake. Hotellets läge och rummet är de två bästa sakerna med detta hotell. Ville bada bastu som hotellet har med fick till svar att bastun var endast för män. Frysande mamma fick ta en varm dusch i rummet istället, inte riktigt samma sak. Middag på kvällen på […] den franska restaurangen var ingen höjdare heller. Personalen skramlade riktigt ordentligt med redskapen och tallrikarna ( gjorde säkert i ordning för morgonen) och ropade högt till varandra. Vanligt i de enklare ställena att det är väldigt hög ljudnivå i Kina, men detta hotell har fyra stjärnor därför förväntas en viss service nivå. Men vill man bo närä sjön och inte äter på hotellet eller tänker basta om man är kvinna, är detta helt ok ställe att bo på. Read more

Im Ramada Hotel in Hangzhou habe ich mich sehr wohl gefühlt. Es liegt fast direkt am Westlake (Fußweg 3 MInuten) und ist daher in dem ruhigeren Teil von Hangzhou gelegen. Vom Bahnhof Hangzhou Main Station sind es 10 bis 15 Minuten mit dem Taxi (je nach Verkehrsaufkommen). Man kann auch den Bus nehmen - der hält direkt vorm Hotel. Das Hotel selbst ist […] sauber und die Mehrzahl der Mitarbeiter spricht Englisch. Die Zimmer sind schön hell und haben Klimaanlage. Das Frühstück besteht aus einer großer Auswahl an westlichen und chinesischen Speisen. Den Hotel Pool habe ich nicht getestet sondern nur einen kurzen Blick drauf geworfen - ist relativ klein.
