Friendly staff, slight confusion when my card was reluctant to release the lift. The first breakfast at a hotel is often a slight problem in discovering the routine and this was the case here. But as my title says it was ideal for my purpose and the price for a Friday night was competitive.

Good service from reception and people on Bfast. Room comfortable IBIS rooms, usually a little hot when you come in but if you open window for a bit ok. Would stay again and much better than other cheaper hotels in Birmingham, that are in centre of city near bull ring.

Hotel was located right near the nightlife we wanted to be around, plenty of bars and restaurants around, and a few minutes from the bull ring and train station too! Pleasant, simple hotel room with good facilities for a budget stay. I have stayed here twice and would stay again if I came to Birmingham again.

The hotel from first appearances looks very modern in the lobby, it is only when you get in the lift and onto your floor that the decor looks very dated. The reception staff were very friendly and informative. As for the bathroom, it is tiny! the shower space is very compact, and I am surprised they managed to fit it, a sink and toilet all in the same space! In saying this, it wasn't very expensive for a central location, the bullring is a stones throw away, and you are right in the centre of Chinatown. I cannot comment on the breakfast as we didn't pay for one. All in all, its good for a night out in Birmingham and coming back to kip, but it definitely is not a place for a romantic weekend. The hotel staff were very friendly. Breakfast at £5.00 was very good value with lots of choice. There was secure parking in the basement at £10 a day. The hotel was in the Chinatown area, close to the Hippodrome and the Bullring. The room was compact, but comfortable. The hotel was clean and well maintained. On arrival we were greeted by friendly and helpful staff who checked us in quickly. Room was small but perfect for what we needed and very clean - excellent shower also. Being in the midst of Chinatown and next to Arcadian Centre, it can get pretty noisy outside, in the late night. So best to get room higher up and away from Arcadian side. Room size very small although the bed size is good but the shock was that there's no fridge. Internet access is payable. Selling point is its proximity to Bullring and Chinatown.

Staff are efficient, my room maid was excellent. I enjoyed the breakfast as good sausage and piping hot, not tepid like most buffet types. Good selection but was a little amazed at the tiny plates, although nothing stops you from getting up again to have more its just a little annoying when you can only get 2 sausage on and nothing else as is only a […] side plate. There was no orange juice and apple juice was put into the orange dispenser which was also annoying. Would rather they say they ran out also no water jugs. Coffee was excellent. I did not like the service for the bar I must admit. Seems a bit misshap and had to wait for a long time to be served even when no queues. The room was a fair size and I personally like the idea that you can store suitcases etc under the bed out of the way. A good way to utilize space and not clutter up the room. Bed was comfy and nice and clean. Would i use again?? ........... yes I would so all in all a few things to put right and this hotel would give some others with more stars a run for its money. Room was fine, hotel was convenient, big problem was it was beside a night club... music went on until 2am. When I checked in, I asked for a quiet room, at midnight, the music had not stopped and I called in to the front desk, who did not have any other rooms, and offered to big me ear plugs. Not happy because of the music.

The Wife and i had booked to see the musical Oliver at The Birmingham Hip,and the Ibis was nearest and fortunately best value on the day. We paid extra for a breakfast which more than adaquet and bags of choice,(yummie) This Hotel would always be our 1st option because of its location, so close to shops and markets. Thanks IBIS.
