"Comfortable Stay in a Good Location"
Perfect place to stay - especially appealing because of a discounted rate. Close to South End, Prudential Center, Copley Square, and Back Bay. Hotel staff were welcoming and accommodating.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Fabulous staff, rooftop pool is overrated."
We had a wonderful stay at the Colonnade. I spoke to the front desk staff several times - we asked if we could check in early, I had questions about parking, and they also held some items for us after we checked out. They were really kind and accommodating. The rooftop pool was not as nice as I thought it would be, although the servers were quick and […] the drinks were nice. I was expecting kind of a Miami vibe and instead it could have been the hotel pool in back of any bargain motel, just up on a roof instead of next to a parking lot. "Booked because of the pool . . ."
The staff is very nice but ineffective. The pool was also nice but closed early for a wedding. My room had a HUGE leak coming from the mini bar and the floor was saturated with water. I called 3 times to no avail. The towels had visible stains on them and they were neatly folded and kept under the sink area. When I bent down to get a towel, I noticed […] the shelf was dusty and dirty and there was a dead bug. The bathroom ceiling had a huge leak that was covered with TAPE and painted over. The toilet and tub were not cleaned throughout my stay. The room was very noisy but the source of the noise was unknown. If you are booking only for the pool, be sure to make sure it is not closed for a private function. Saturday we went to the pool at 9am and at 11am we were told we had to move because the area we were sitting in was reserved. No staff helped us to find new chairs and when we finally did find new chairs to sit in, the reserved party arrived. The reserved party consisted of 7 men that cursed and were very crude. Several people, including myself, had children with them and the behavior was distasteful. The staff received a few complaints but clearly catered to the group. Given the expense of the hotel and the reviews, I was very disappointed. I travel for business and pleasure and would NEVER stay here again. For the money, I will now stay at the Ritz Carlton. "Close to Copley and Newberry"
Nice Hotel - but they didn't have the room I wanted available. I wanted two double beds but they only had a room with one king. Also the parking overnight at the location was $34 which I thought was expensive.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"T stop right outside door"
Overall we were happy with our short stay here at the Colonnade. One elevator was out of service which made for longer waits at the elevators. The roof top pool is very nice and not too busy. There were quite a few kids at the pool that made our stay at the pool more brief. The pool was smaller then i thought it would be too. The room was nice it was […] a lil dirty. There is no refrigerator but i requested one from the bell hop and he promptly had one brought up. The bell hop was very friendly, the staff at the desk, not as much. Like i said we were happy with our stay and walked or took the t anywhere we needed to go. I think i will look into staying somewhere else next time i am in Boston. "Good location, nice roof top pool"
Close to lovely Newbury Street (great shopping and dining) and opposite Prudential Center. It was hot during our stay in Boston so it was nice to cool down at the roof top pool. The Brasserie was good for breakfast and dinner.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Charged me twice, but nice"
Despite the fact that they charged me at checkout for my two night stay (I had already paid in full with an online hotel rental company) the hotel is very nice and the staff is very helpful.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Courteous staff, nice swimming pool great locationGenuine Expedia guest review
I would stay there again. Staff was very supportive. My only complaint was one Bell Hop who was not friendly not much help. Pool was to crowded and did not get to enjoy and that was one reason we stayed at the hotel. I was told that non-guests could pay to swim. If that is true, not a good idea for a busy holiday weekend.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Hotel for summer in the city."
My wife and I live local. We enjoy short overnights in the summer so we can visit different places. We decided to stay in Boston and chose the Colonnade because of the rooftop pool. We were not disappointed the pool experience was awesome. We were quite impressed with the staff, cleanliness, and a great room. We have told everyone of our great experience. […] We plan to do it again before the summer ends. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great overall hotel"
My wife and I enjoyed many things about this hotel. Comfortable beds, spacious bathrooms, great views of the city. We were able to walk to Fenway and nearby shops and restaurants. We were able to park our car and take it out, at no extra charge, as often as we wanted. We were a little surprised how many people were at the somewhat small roof-top pool, […] but I think the 94 degree weather probably had something to do with it. Overall a good experience. "Nice Enough in Back Bay"
This hotel was just okay for me. I wanted to like it so bad, but I just couldn't because of the neglect to the elevators and common areas. The Good: The T stop is right outside the door! The rooms have been redone and are modern, clean, and comfortable. It was unusually hot in Boston during our stay and the room was paradise everytime we opened our […] door. The concierge was VERY helpful and gave us great recommendations for food/transport/sightseeing/etc. The Bad: The wifi is expensive and slow (I almost put this on the ugly list). The pool is small and crowded - we had to hover for a while to get a chair. The bar food at the Brasserie Jo leaves much to be desired. The restaurants all around the Colonnade are mainly large chains - Cheesecake Factory is literally across the street. The Ugly: We were there for 5 days and the elevators NEVER worked properly. They would fix one problem and the next day it would be something new like every elevator stopping and opening on each floor. Had we been on the 2nd floor and not the 9th, this probably wouldn't have been as big of a deal. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Great location in Back Bay, would definitely stay again when we're in town for a Sox game. Rooms are nicely appointed, and spacious for a city hotel. Rating deductions given for the fact that there was mascara on one pillowcase, and the elevators were barely operational for a large part of the day (necessitating several trips up and down the stairs, […] not a huge deal but we were on the 10th floor and it was over ninety degrees that day). "Good location, small pool, broken elevators"
The colonnade gets a mixed review, mostly because of expectations and circumstances. If you stay here, here are a few tips. Rooftop pool is smaller than it appears, so it doesn't take long to fill up (with people, that is, not water). The bigger issue, however, is that the rooftop itself is somewhat small, and lacks adequate seating to accommodate […] the number of us who would have liked to enjoy a little relaxing sun on property. Pool opens at 8am, and by 8:45 most deck chairs were spoken for - many by people who had apparently left their things and went back to bed. Despite being assured by the desk staff that this is not permitted, we saw no effort to enforce it. The elevators were not running properly during our stay, stopping on every floor during peak periods, which did prolong trips to and from the room. Parking is expensive, as noted. But I don't consider this the hotel's problem. It's tough to find parking anywhere in Boston. Best bet is to forego the rental car and take the taxi or train - options are plentiful. Or, weather permitting, walk. Hotel was clean and relatively quiet. Staff were friendly and accommodating. And very responsive when we became stuck in the elevator. Rooms were well appointed with Keurig machines and iPhone docking stations. Overall it was a good stay, even if we were disappointed by the rooftop pool experience. I always deduct a star when a 4-star hotel charges for wifi. In this age of connectivity, wifi should be included. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Very convenient, friendly staff"

"Above and beyond"
The hotel location is excellent and in walking distance of all Back Bay and surrounding area attractions. Though the outside appearance of the hotel is somewhat lacking, the lobby and rooms are very nicely done. Bed and pillows were great. The biggest and best impression was made by a housekeeping employee named Dee. I left my favorite dress shirt […] hanging in the closet. When I got home two hours later I called the hotel and was transferred to speak with Dee. She told me she would go to the room to check for the shirt and call me back in ten minutes. Well, she found the shirt, called me back in ten minutes, and mailed it free of charge to my home address (because we live an hour away)! Wow! That is above and beyond! We were very happy with our stay. The staff was extremely helpful. We took a Red Eye and arrived well before the 3:00 p.m. check -in. The staff was very accommodating and kept our bags so we could get a nice breakfast while we waited. Within a few hours, we were able to check-in and loved our room. "Nice, convenient hotel"
I recently stayed at the Colonnade with my 7-year old daughter. We had a wonderful stay at the hotel. Duck tour up the street, Prudential Center across the street and the T train right in front of the hotel. It was close to the airport and easy to get anywhere in the city, especially with the T so conveniently located. We had an easy time figuring out […] the train system. The staff was very helpful and the rooms were very clean. Oldish carpet and a tear in the shower liner were the only flaws. The bathrooms were small but there was plenty of vanity space so we didn't mind. Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
First time in Boston. Walking distance from city center. Comfy beds, excellent shower. Would definitely stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel staff was great. The location is perfect. The hotel is well appointed. The only bad mark I would give the hotel is with housekeeping. Upon entering the bathroom sink had hair around it, as well as hair in the dresser drawers. One small soap in water soaked paper wrapping was available. I was there for 2 nights, the one day housekeeping cleaned, […] they did not make the bed or replenish the coffee, but I know they were in the room as the breakfast dishes were removed. Breakfast dishes that arrived with a spoon for yogurt that had the underside caked in something resembling peanut butter - so it was unuseable. Outside of those "cleanliness" issues, the bed was super comfortable, I requested foam pillows that were there when I arrived. The front desk staff was welcoming, and again the location couldn't be beat. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

This is a very comfortable place to stay with friendly and attentive staff, even in the rain!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The bellhops were wonderful and assisted us in getting our luggage out of a cab in the rain. They came up to the room with us and gave us an overview of how everything worked. The beds were comfortable and the room and views were great. Easy to get to downtown Boston shops and tours. The only problem was that I needed internet to get work done. Had power failure in middle of night. Didn't sleep after that, no power in morning, cold shower. Hotel staff was cordial.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The location is perfect for seeing the back bay of Boston. The beds were very comfortable with a lot of soft pillows. Like other reviews say, you can hear every door slam or people in the hallway. The entire back bay area had a power outage while we were there and the since kids had nothing to do it was very loud. We could not even take a shower, because […] there was no hot water. I think if there was no power issues I would rate it a 5 star. I am a little disappointed that nothing was offered to our family as compensation for not even being able to take a shower. Considering this was the cheapest hotel of the class, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the room is very spacious, clean and pleasant. I am a world traveler and usually I don't take time to write these reviews. I have stayed in 4 and 5 starts hotels practically everywhere around the world. This Back Bay Colonnade Hotel has disappointed me in so many levels that I decided to take my time to write this review. Had power outrage one night from 2am until after 9 am. No apologies or reasons […] offered of any kind. Had to wait for hot water to come back on. Not a single courtesy gesture to offset this problem. "Excellent all-around experience, close to Fenway"
This was our first stay at the Colonnade in Boston, and we were very impressed with all aspects of our stay. "Dont expect breakfast in a hurry"
The hotel is excellent, but the restaurant thinks a little too much of itself such that when I told the waiter I only had a half hour for breakfast, I was told brusquely that the kitchen was very busy so perhaps I ought to eat elsewhere.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Best hotel in Boston"
Over all fantastic hotel. Amazing view from our room, plenty of space, beautiful bathroom. Roof top pool is one of a kind and the gym couldn't be better. Of all the hotels I've stayed at in Boston this was by far my favorite. Also, perfect location.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Comfortable & convenient to the Hynes"
We booked our room without knowing anything about the Colonnade other than it was a block away from the Hynes Convention Center where we were attending Anime Boston. I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of space in the room for a "boutique" hotel. Furnishings were clean, modern & attractive. Staff was very gracious and accommodating. We couldn't […] work the DVD player even with help from the Front Desk staff, but probably we were just not clever enough. The walls are thin as is my experience with most hotels (some chatter from the room next door was audible), and our room overlooked busy Huntington Avenue, but it still felt like a relaxing space. Was in town for convention for the weekend, the Colonnade was awesome! Right next door to Prudential, not the biggest rooms, but super comfortable bed, staff was very friendly, on several occasions I chatted with them for several minutes; always willing to help out, housekeepers are quick, left in the morning, went back only an hour or two later and […] the room had already been serviced! Only real con is that its pretty expensive, but what do you expect in the middle of back bay Boston on memorial day weekend. Also, not a big deal in the least, but the TV channel guide is a little wonky. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
We stayed at the Colonnade for 2 nights with our 3 children. The hotel is in a great neighborhood. It is right across the street from the Prudential Center and close to many shops and restaurants. The hotel was clean and totally updated. The only problem I had was that the room was extremely hot! When we arrived I turned the thermostat down to 65. 24 […] hours later the room temperature had not gone below 72 degrees. I called the front desk to complain that the room was extremely hot and uncomfortable. They sent someone up to look at it. He basically said the it is controlled by as main thermostat not the one in the room and that he would adjust it to make it cooler. No such luck. The room was just as hot on the 2nd day.
