"Pottsville is the San Francisco of the east"
I swear, I haven't seen hills like this anywhere else except San Fran.Very picturesque but, after all, it's Pottsville. They don't have the volume to be a first rate hotel. That said, I like staying there. The staff are so friendly (nod to Heidi!) The bathrooms are getting a little worn down. It seems that someone had a great idea in converting an old […] department store into a hotel, and, in fact, it turned out pretty well. Unfortunately, the customer base just isn't there, which would make it hard to justify upkeep, let alone upgrades. It will be interesting to see how it plays out over the next few years. Still, if you are in Pottsville for a night, you could do worse. Good location and parking. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"better than nothing"
Unless you have business there, you really do not have any other choice. old run down hotel, beds are comfortable. The breakfast omelette with cheese was so old it had a crust on it. I actually had to spit it out again and had to go to a Starbucks to have breakfast. Nothing like a Ramada, more like a motel 6 or and old Best Western.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Ramada hotel stay"

Our room had stains on the carpet, water stains on the ceiling, smelled of smoke, bathroom had mold around toilet area baseboard and in caulk of tub. Outside of our room 426 the common rug was ragged and torn at seams. We were told when we booked reservations it was the last room available...however we noticed many vacant rooms with no activity.
"Don't unless you have no other choice"
Stayed there in a king suite for one night. Dragged luggage across the road up the stairs. No staff or bell captain to assist. No directions to assist my disabled mother up the stairs. How has this gone on so long without a handicap ramp. Check in and check our was quick. The petite lady with curly hair was pleasant. There were two ladies next morning, one of them (grey/blue eyed) looked drowsy or hung over as there was blank gaze and no hello, good morning or even a pretend smile on her face. Since it's the only game in town we paid a hefty price for such place. The hotel was not cheap considering that there were no amenities. The vending machines are outdated. Lost few bucks trying to get that stuck snack. I am not sure if this will be my choice again. Because it's the only deal around, I may look for a town nearby.

The staff was very helpful and nice our entire stay. We had 3 rooms and no on had any complaints about the rooms or the staff. This is our 3rd time staying at this hotel.
"Pottsville, Pa. ,Ramada"

The hotel was very convenient for my trip. I have stayed here when it was a Quality Inn. The rooms are fine and the mattresses are comfortable. The public spaces of the hotel were VERY warm but the rooms were fine. I thought the breakfast was good and above average. When I checked in , the desk clerk yawned in my face..not great people skills. When I checked out, the desk clerk said I could not pay until I came back with my luggage, ie, proving I was leaving. I insisted and did pay then but it was a bit of a struggle to check out on my time table and not theirs. I travel a lot and never had a desk clerk tell me I had to show my luggage to be able to check out. You need to improve the side entrance sidewalk since this is the only way to get baggage in without climbing a bunch of steps at the front entrance. I hope you will pay attention to this since I took the time to write it. Let me know if you take any action especially with the side entrance.
"Not a great hotel, but cheap"

It's the only game in town. The hotel was cheap. A/C was not on in the common areas (including the gym). Key stopped working at one point. A/C in room needed to be reset. Cleaning staff rode the non-service elevator.

Most disgusting hotel I've ever stayed in. Reviews on Priceline made this hotel sound decent, but I knew I'd made a mistake by booking a room at this hotel immediately after checking-in and walking into the elevator... it smelled terrible and looked dirt. The room smelled weird and felt dirty as well. The small throw pillow on the bed had stains, but the worst part was the blood stain that I found on the comforter!! I took a picture of the stains, but can't figure out how to attach them to this review. In the morning, when I told the girl at the front desk about the blood stain, her response was "sorry about that." Seriously!? I wouldn't recommend this hotel to ANYONE!!
"Clean and Comfortable"

There aren't many places to stay around Pottsville and I looked at almost all the hotels/motels in the area - I'm picky. First thing I do when I enter a hotel room is toss the beds and inspect the bathroom. Everything was very nice and clean in the Ramada. We did have an end room which meant a window to the outside, that was nice. Many of the rooms have windows facing the hallway, which I don't like but it's not a deal breaker. Microwave and mini fridge were requested and we got them, not sure if all rooms have them. Heater/AC worked, no smells and spacious. My sister's room did have an issue with he AC unit but they fixed that. Cool old building (although painted a weird hospital green in some areas) and minutes from the Yuengling brewery! Would definitely stay here again.

Air conditioner throughout the Ramada did not work. The reason why I even rated this a 1 was because the very nice staff had to endure with us. I had to stay 3 days due to our meetings being held there. I became very ill due to the heat.
"Room was plain awful"
06/14/14 Mark M Kissimmee, Florida
I believe this was the old J C Penny building in downtown Pottsville - The renovation was poorly done - The lobby was musty, carpet in the hallway was not secured to the floor and the room was plain awful Trying for quaint and missing the point is one thing but being ill kept and dirty is simple negligence
