When I first pulled up I thought oh no! The out side was not vey pleasing. Once I got into the room, I totally changed my mind. The room had been beautifully remodeled. Also being that the room door was to the ouside, it was very warm. There was no air entering the room. So I had no complaints about my stay. The staff was very nice. I would book there again.

Convenient location and clean facilities
"OK except for the drunk people.."
The hotel was ok - nothing fancy but I didn't expect that for the price. Everything was perfectly suitable in terms of cleanliness/facilities. The location was stellar. However - I do have one big complaint. We stayed there on a Friday and Saturday night, and both nights, some extremely drunk people staying in a room across the hall came back at around […] 3 in the morning yelling up and down the hallway, slamming doors really hard, etc. This was definitely loud enough to wake me up even from a post-wedding pass out. Obviously this isn't the hotel's fault, but the reception area was right down the hall and they didn't do anything - ask the people to quiet down, etc. It was incredibly disruptive and made it hard to get any good sleep. Clean but old. It was very close to where our daughter's apartment is so the location was everything. No frills but it did have free Wi-Fi.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Just okay"
Stains on ceiling above bed and makes you wonder if it starts raining will it leak. Sink in bathroom did not drain well at all and toilet handle would stick. Poor positioning of furniture and bed, making it difficult to get by.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Rough room in a decent location"
This was a very convenient location in downtown Rochester. There are several bars / restaurants within walking distance. The condition of the room left quite a bit to be desired. The bathroom was tiny and not clean. The toilet handle had to be "jiggled" to stop it from running. The shower was old and moldy. The bed was about two feet off of the ground […] and okay at best. "good economy motor inn"
Have stayed twice now. Good basic motor inn. No real frills. 1st stay we got remodeled room with flat screen and marble shower. 2nd stay we got an older finish room, formica and tub w/tile shower, not as nice, but good for the price. Location is great, right on the corner from the East End entertainment district. Within easy walking distance to downtown, […] museums, coffe shops, resturants, bars and night clubs. Short hop to the 'South Wedge' area and Park Avenue district. Considering it was @ 20% less than the chain motels, well worth the consideration. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Not Impressed but oh well..."
We stayed at the East Ave Inn solely for it's convenience and location in regards to bars and clubs at east and alexander. "East Ave Hotel basic"
This hotel is more like an old college dorm. Our room specifically was pretty clean except for the big yellow stain on the bedding. I would recommend this to someone looking for a place to crash after a night of drinking. Not too much else to offer.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"a nice hotel"
I'll have to say that the rooms were clean, and there was always hot water no matter what time of the day or night. the staff friendly and the hotel quite. i really could not ask for more. also easy walking to downtown rochester and shops.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Convenient to Jazz Festival"
Location is the major asset of East Avenue Motel. The motel is a basic place to sleep with clean sheets and a comfortable bed while seeing the sites of Rochester area. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone , all though the room/hotel was clean, the hotel itself had a unusual smell (not in the room ) in the hall way and staircase. "Service Makes a Difference"
I chose this hotel for an overnight stay to run in the Lilac Festival as it was close to Highland Park. It was comfortable and clean. The outstanding feature, for me, was the friendly people both behind the desk and around the premises. There are no coffee makers in the rooms, but free coffee in the lobby in the morning. "Wouldn't go back"
The hotel staff was friendly and swift, and the location of the hotel is very convenient. However, the condition of the property and the room I was in particularly left something to be desired. "East Avenue Inn- filthy"
I orignally tried to book the Extended Stay in this area Hotels.com recommended this hotel as an eqaul alternative since my first choice was booked. This hotel was close to wear we were going but it was a DUMP. Our room was on the 2nd floor and you had to travel up and down a series of hallways and steps. You went up the steps then down the steps up […] the steps down the steps to get to the room. The bathroom was very small and filthy it and a stanized sticker on the toliet but there were hairs all over it. The shower was old and the grout was stained, there were hairs in there too. The room had no working outlets. The comforter on the bed was old and stained along with the mattress cover and mattress. The room we were in was very noisey it was close the the stairway and we heard slamming doors all night long. We opted out of our 2nd night. It took alot to stay there the first night and if we could of found 2 rooms at another hotel we would have left. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Drunk tank"
I mean it's right downtown Rochester and I used it for it's location to prevent drunk driving and it's right next to everything. Spent one night in this hotel. The room was clean, beds were comfortable, neighborhood appeared safe. Walking distance to several restaurants and bars, convenient location. "East Avenue Inn - a sweet little motel"
This is an older motel, dating from those "See the U., S., A., in your Chev. Roe. Lay... days. I was impressed with the daily work put in to keep the place clean, and smelling nice everywhere. The furniture was nice, functional, well-used, comfortable. The beds were firm and comfortable. There were a number of lamps in my room. I left the "Do Not Disturb" […] sign on my door, and nobody ever bothered me. If you want glitz, this is not it. If you want clean, functional, comfortable, located at the East End (night life), this is it. Also, it is reasonably-priced for how clean it is. I really liked the "jade" shampoo they put in my bathroom, and enough towels for a small army. I highly recommend this motel to anyone who likes a clean and nice-smelling motel. "Hotel In Rochester"
The East Avenue Inn was conveniently located near downtown Rochester. Unfortunately the age of the hotel was detrimental. The condition while clean was old and outdated. "Cautiously recommending the East Inn"
The East Inn located in Rochester, NY is conveniently located near the Eastman Conservatory of Music. The hotel itself is in good shape but the room was not clean. It felt like the room had not been vacuumed in quite a while. The furniture was also falling apart. Aside from the room, the service at the front desk was excellent and the staff very personable. […] The inn is situated on a piece of property where there is an identical building to the left of the inn, that is vacant and not in business. "Babu Zoe"
We chose the East Avenue Inn Downtown because it is convenient to the Eastman House and to the museums we wanted to visit - and because it is extremely reasonable. It was all of that, pretty much what we expected from the reviews and given the price. The carpet was bit worn, the blanket was a bit thin BUT we were happy to have found this place. And […] would definitely stay there again. As for the location, we were there on a wintry weekend so we ended up driving everywhere that we had expected to walk. "You get what you pay for, but the location rocks!"
The hotel was inexpensive, though it was a middle of the week reservation. The room smelled which is a problem for me, but you can not beat the location. There is nothing sketchy about it. In walking distance, there are great restaurants and bars. The George Eastman house is just up the street as is the Rochester Museum of Science. Park Avenue, a popular […] and trendy neighborhood is one block up. The Public Market is nearby, as is Craft Company # 6 and the Rochester Memorial Art Gallery (MAG). I would suggest this hotel to people who are on a budget or perhaps to those who prefer to spend their money on the attractions. Probably not for families with young children. "Bring your house shoes with you"
Have you ever walked into a Hotel and were greeted with the overpowering smell of disinfectant? A suspicious feeling, isn't it? What is being covered up? That feeling followed me the entire one night stay. The building is in need remodeling (Doors, Windows, curtains, carpets, bathroom) and you simply had the feeling that nothing has been renovated in […] the last 20 years. The bathroom shower had mold and mildew in the corners (I wore my fitness studio bath shoes). The doors and walls were thin - I'm thankful, there weren't many people overnighting that evening. Finally, and this is quite clearly a subjective opinion, I had the feeling as if the place had been an hourly hotel at some point in the past. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"East Avenue Inn Downtown - Noisy Hotel!"
The location for this was somewhat convenient. It is in a section of town that was pretty active. However, the hotel room was very noisy. "Underrated"
Based on these reviews, I was expecting this place to be wretched. In fact it is clean, agreeable, and very well-run. It's in a 19th-century brick building (befitting much of Rochester), and the layout of the lobby and room placements is eccentric. Nothing wrong with that, because the room itself is quite all right: well-appointed, reasonably roomy, […] and well-kept. This isn't a giant corporate Hilton. It's an inexpensive but very much OK place to stay, in just about the best location imaginable for visitors wanting access to downtown. Eastman School is a few blocks away, as is (in other directions) the Village Gate, the museums, etc etc. It's right at the absolute epicenter for visitors, and absurdly cheap. I dealt with three different desk clerks, and all of them were considerate and helpful. There was a noisy party room, two doors away from me, and I couldn't hear a hint of it inside my room. The place is solid. Hidden treasure. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"East Avenue Inn, Rochester"
Our 1 night stay was fine. Location was close to Eastman Theater (1/3 mile walk). Hotel was older, but fairly well maintained. Room was spacious with one king bed, but had strong disinfectant smell which annoyed my wife. Did not have a restaurant on the premises, but there are some within walking distance. Located in a slightly run-down section of the […] city, but did not appear to be unsafe. We wouldn't book a long stay there, but for a short, convenient stay it would be fine, especially for the price, which is considerably less than others in the downtown area.
