This is a very, very nice hotel! Great location near Darling Harbor - walking down to Circular Quay is a trek, but definitely do-able, especially with the help of the handy-dandy map from the Concierge Desk. Upon checking out they had in their records that we had used something from the mini-bar and we hadn't. When I informed them of that, they removed it right away. Overall a great experience. All you would expect from a Hotel of this class. However, it is firmly placed in the business traveller category. The casual leisure customer will find that things are very expensive. Not a problem to the expense account guys of course. If you want reasonably priced food, drink and laundry facilities go somewhere else - this is not for you.

The hotel is quite well located for tourism purposes, a 15 minute walk from Harbour Bridge, slightly further to the Opera House and rooms on the front of the hotel have a good view over the water, though shame it's not of Sydney Harbour itself! Another plus is the fitness room - pretty well equipped. On the downside the rooms are in serious need of renovation. Furniture/decor is all very dated. They boast of being the largest hotel in Sydney in terms of capacity but really need to concentrate on bringing the rooms into modern times. If you're used to staying in Sheraton Group hotels this certainly isn't up there with the best.

When I called the desk to see if they could move me, the GM came up to see me and upgraded me to a Starwood room with balcony on the 10th floor. I stayed at the Four Points for the last four days of a 10-day trip to Sydney. The hotel was pretty much what I expected it to be--an average tourist/conference hotel conveniently located near Darling Harbor. Unfortunately, during my visit, my room key demagnetized 8 (yes, that's a eight) times! Each time, I had to go and stand in a very long line at reception (the hotel was extremely busy)in order to get a new key. Each time, I was told the same thing--maybe something in my purse was demagnetizing the card (despite the fact that I kept my card in the back pocket of my jeans when out of the room or on a counter in the room). At least after the third time, they stopped asking for my passport! Sometimes the new key would work once, sometimes it would would several times. It may seem like a minor deal, but having to repeatedly go through the process of getting a new key is very frustrating (and time consuming). And although the people at reception were very nice, at no point was I offered a different room or compensation of any sort (not even a voucher for a drink at the bar). While I'd like to believe it was just an anomaly (as the people at reception said), I doubt I'll risk staying at the hotel again. Also, as a side note: the hotel is located on a one-way street, and I had several taxi drivers who could not figure out how to get there. (Luckily by that point, I knew my way around the city well enough to walk from a nearby intersection.)

On the second night, my husband and I had experience some bites. I called the house department the next day, and we had experienced no more bites. From the first day, I had noticed that my bed spring was particularly soft and I could feel the metal at the bed's edge. We were too tired, arriving late at night and on the go all day early in the morning that we did not complain sooner. After a few nights of this, I complained. Staff (male and female) came to the room and examined both mattresses. They offered a room change, but we did not want the hassle of packing and unpacking. While we were out, they did change the mattresses. As a afterthought next day, I requested some comp; and they did comp one breakfast and late checkout.

(You'd think the front desk would recognize me as a business traveler since I had a laptop case and no family, and would have given me such a room at check-in!) Given this hotel's location, right in Sydney's CBD, but also close to Darling Harbour, there are a lot of tourists.
