I thought the Berkley was a really nice hotel. Everything was clean and worked. The staff was friendly. There was even an iPod alarm clock in the room which was really cool! My only complaint was the parking. We had to park in a metered spot (which was free due to damage from hurricane Sandy right now) but what would I have done if they weren't free? The metered spot we found was almost a 2 block walk from the hotel too which is annoying on it's own but we also arrived while it was pouring. I was soaked and carrying a broken umbrella by the time I made it to the front desk. The hotel really needs its own dedicated parking area.

Staff were very nice. Clean & tidy rooms, even microwave was clean. Wawa close by for convenience. Other businesses were a short drive away. 20 minutes from NJ Marathon at Monmouth Park!

Perhaps our expectations were too high based on other reviews we read, but it was pretty nasty. Funky odor in the room, room was tiny, hotel is not in great shape, locking chain on door was broken, etc. Even my 8 year old commented it was pretty bad. For what we paid, I expect better. I've paid far less at a La Quinta and had a much better experience. […] I would only stay if it's a last resort. The breakfast is a joke, freezerburned bagels, and 2 gallon's of milk. It's cheap,. The staff is efficient and curteous. The room and grounds are clean. The hotel is somewhat aged, however. Lastly, as the name implies, it is no frills.

Paid a decent sum for a Saturday night in July. It was the only thing left that was close to the shore and also reasonable. Not too bad - basic, but comfortable. Biggest problem was the hefty mold smell when first walking in. Putting the AC on seemed to help, or maybe just getting used to it, but be prepared....

An economy hotel with the basics. Not a bad neighborhood- but industrial and truck traffic goes all night long. No frills- you get what you get. The water was hot in the shower and plentiful. The bed was basic and hard. The room outdated but clean enough. Manager on site was helpful recommending a place to eat and pleasant.

the room i got room 214 i turned on the heater because room was very cold then ran some errands came back and the heater was burning i got a new room nothing in this room was attached to the wall ..hung up my clothes the rack came off the wall the shower curtain came out of the wall.. the safe was not attached to anything so i slept with my valuables […] the white sheets were dirty or stained and there were stink bugs all over the place.. it's next door to a flea market, directly facing it, it has a lot of hustle and bustle. If you are looking to shop early next door, it's ideal. They would even provide the wake up call from the market. I worried about the safety of our car, but nothing happened at all, this time. It was as expected. The only real problem was the air conditioner was not on when we got into the room. It was worse than being outside in the 90+ degree heat and high humidity. The room took over an hour to cool down.
