Nothing was ready, person at front desk needed so much help. We were not happy with conditions of the hotel, lack of staff to help get rooms ready knowing this was a very busy weekend at the College preparations should have been made .

This is a basic motel accommodation which means entrances to the rooms are from the outside and one has to take stairs to get to the second level. For being an older facility the rooms were in decent condition. They were fine with our small dog which most of the more luxury establishments in the area don't allow. The free wi-fi though seemed to be somewhat […] slow. The most useful comparison to me is to the Baymont Inn next door which is a hotel with indoor entrances and elevators and allows pets. Their rooms are marginally nicer and they have breakfast but their rates are much higher (although all the rates were inflated when we were there do to high demand from youth sporting events) so one would have to judge for themselves whether the additional features were worth the added cost. When I booked I noticed the rating was 3/5 and now I understand why: this hotel desperately needs updating! The room was clean, but the carpet was old, the furniture was beat up, the bath tub and toilet and countertops were badly outdated as well as the heating/air-conditioning unit. Lots of rust and flaking paint in the exterior walk-way ceilings clue you into the age of the hotel. The room was clean, but the bed was way too soft for me - lots of back pain the next day. The wallpaper was all bubbled in the bathroom from moisture, albeit, clean. You get what you pay for. If you like the motel/drive-up style of travel, then I guess […] this is what to expect for $65. Well, we had to ask twice for more bath towels, and there was no hair dryer in the room. The toilet had no lid on it and there are not a lot of hooks in the bathroom which makes it difficult when you are taking a shower. The room was clean, and the beds were comfortable. I loved being so close to Assembly Hall at the college. My family and I went for an event there and it was easy to find. The people were very helpful and friendly. Even though the hotel is a little older, it was very clean and comfortable.

I guess you get what you paid for. We had booked 2 rooms but ended up only needing 1, so we went to cancel and the lady was BEYOND RUDE!!!!! I almost hung up the phone bc she was so rude to me. the location was great and easy to find. It was good because it was convienent and we were tired!!! 1st we paid for a smoking that was offered online where we prepaid for our stay. the clerk said no problem, we could smoke in the room he gave us. 2nd. the desk clerk was folding towels on the counter. 3rd the bathroom had spider webs in the corner above the sink. 4th the extra 2 towels I got […] from him had hair from a black person. 5th we asked for ashtrays but never got then. so we smoked in the room and used our coke can and ashtray from our car. 6th I was going to shower, but, there was a spider in the shower so my husband killed it and i didnt use the shower after that. Tons of restaurants in area. Room fairly clean. Door to room opens to outside so was quite noisy from wind and interstate that was right next door. Good deal for the price.

Felt it was inconvenient that we had to do the booking our self when we arrived because we told the hotel staff I saw the price lower through hotels.com when we were standing there and saw the ad on the iphone. At a hotel we stayed at the night before they price matched and booked the room for us at the hotels.com lower price. Red roof would not do […] that for us.. We went to another hotel in the area and got the same thing so it must be a policy your area hotels have and it's not very customer friendly or convenient. Read more

I would like to start out on a positive note: the staff here is friendly and very attentive. Unfortunately, this ALL that this hotel has going for it except the low rate, which is what drew is in. The rooms smelled like old cigarette smoke. The tub had dirt stains. The carpet was filthy & fraying (I wouldn't take my shoes off to walk in the room & used the -thankfully-clean towels to walk on after I showered). Also, thankfully, the sheets at least smelled like they had been bleached. The furniture was also dirty & looked like it came from a garage sale. The lobby was also gross. Definitely had the feel of a hotel that had seen better days. Pretty quick drive to UIUC but that's about all I can say. Room was pretty beat up and didn't smell so great. Bed was comfortable though.

OK if you're on a tight budget and only need a place to sleep. The room was ok for the price but the heat didn't work very well so it was not comfortable. Thankfully, it was only one night and I only needed to sleep.

My bad experience started with genuine attitude from the clerk upon arrival. The room has not seen any maintenance for years. Carpeting was so wore out that it was full of ripples about 1/2" high throughout. Mold/mildew growing on the tub surround in several places. Be sure to check university schedule. All hotels are booked if there is something going on like say homecoming. If plans ahead aren't made you may have to stay here. It was adequate but would be our last choice to stay here.

The room stunk upon entering, carpets where dirty ,hair in sink and tub, wires where hanging out from t.v. and phone, trash was on floor next to the bed, and the t.v. on dresser was very wobbly, I would never stay there again even if it was a free stay.
