You get what you pay for. The rooms were fine and definitely worth the price for a hotel located within a ten minute walk to Union Square. The neighborhood wasn't the best but far from bad. There were a lot of homeless people but they are basically harmless. It is conviently located off the 80 and a short drive to the Golden Gate Bridge. We waalked from the hotel to North Beach in about an hour and never felt unsafe. Later that night we walked to AT&T Park in about 40 minutes and also felt safe the entire time. If you don't mind walking this place is fine. It had it's own parking lot under the hotel, a small store on one corner, and a cheap breakfast place on the other. My only complaint was the noise. Our room was located right on th street and I could here every car, bus, truck and motorcylce drive by. This may not bother some people but we live in the mountains where you can here the wind coming form a mile a way.

For those expecting Ritz-Carlton material, you might wanna try elsewhere; but for those looking to hit up the clubs around 11th & Harrison just blocks away and not drive afterward, this is a great place to rest your brain and liver. Elevators & room access is secured, although the elevators are a bit cramped (Ok, so being 6'2 and 270, EVERYTHING is cramped to me). There's a convenient liquor store, gas station and Burger King within walking distance, as well as only being a couple blocks south of Market Street and the Muni/BART lines. Deffo glad to see this was available, as this was a last-hour reservation, and check-in was a breeze. I'll plan on making this my next hotel for after going to the DNA Lounge!

I booked this room due to the price and for the fact it was located two blocks away from the BART. I feel I got what I paid for. The surrounding area is pretty seedy but not too bad. When I checked in I was greeted by the night manager outside of the front office. He informed me he had locked himself out of the office and was unable to let me check in until another employee came with a key. He did offer to take my luggage while I ran to the store. After about 30 minutes the key arrived and I got checked in. The room was pretty basic, it had enough space and was generally clean. There was a distinct moldy smell in the room consistent with water damage but after being in the room for awhile you dont notice it. The hotel is located two blocks away from the BART which was important as I did not want to rent a car. It is a 20 minute ride by the train to and from the airport (cost $5). There is a convience store located across the street which is nice for your snack and alcohol needs.

I stayed here for the Nike women's marathon. I would not stay here ever again! I knew it was .9 miles from Union Square, but had no idea the neighborhood would be so bad. During the bright hours of the day, from 8am-5pm, the area was ok, but after 5pm, the homeless started settling in for the night. We had to leave our car and walk so that we would have a place to park. I was trying to get sleep for my race, but was awaken constantly by the busses, motorcycles, and yelling people. The walls are super thin! It finally quieted at 3am. We left for the race at 5:45am and had to walk around the people sleeping on the sidewalk. Thank goodness there was a group of us. I didn't think it would be bad to stay just to sleep, but it was impossible to sleep. We have declared that paying extra money is worth a good night of sleep in the city especially when you want to have a full day of activities the next day.

I thought the location is perfect. However, The cleanliness is not so good. If you want to stay here i suggest to bring your own sheets and blankets. my wife and i have 100 plus bug bites from that place combines and it is itching like crazy as we speak. I am still feeling the effects of it and i stayed there 4 days ago. I will never stay there again.

Perfect location for us, few blocks from library, blocks from BART. Cross street from market and restaurants. Has off street parking and doesn't charge extra! On down side: the "contenintal breakfst" was a packaged pastry. Someone's car window was broken in during our stay.
