The oldest part of town, Oude Zijde, is famous for its Red Light District, but the University and the docks bring a different kind of colour and buzz to the narrow streets. We enjoyed a relaxing break in the Golden Tulip during Easter week. We were greeted by a staff who were helpful and efficient and who advised on places to visit. The hotel was in an excellent location-close to Central station and the main shopping area and within walking distance of many other attractions. Whilst we found the rooms were quite small they were spotlessly clean as was the bathroom. I would recommend this hotel to a friend and would be happy to return there on any future visits.

Amsterdam is pricey, this hotel was very good quality and in a good position for dam square, central station, red light, general shopping but if you want cinema, theatre clubs etc its a good 45 min walk back cos the trams stop at 12.00 and taxi'x are pricey. Wouldn't recommend using connexions hotel shuttle bus, had to ring twice on return trip back to airport as they forgot us and were 45 mins late, and cost return was 42 euros for two return trip.

This hotel has a great location that is an easy walk from the train station. Street cars and taxis stop near the front of the hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful. Our original reservations were for an executive room, which was supposed to be larger than the superior rooms. The room had no dresser or even shelves in the tiny closet, and we would have had to live out of our suitcase for our 5 day stay. Therefore, we paid for an upgrade to a Business Room, which was significantly larger and more comfortable, and allowed us to put our clothes on shelves, and our suitcase out of sight. Breakfast at the hotel was 17 Euros/person. I suggest skipping the hotel option and instead eating at one of the many options located nearby. I would consider staying here again if I could book a Business Room.

We arrived early for our check-in, but were allocated a room immediatly. Very friendly and helpful staff. The Hotel's central location is ideal for exploring Amsterdam. It is within a short walk from the Central Station. The Hotel breakfast at 20euros seems a little on the high side but the choice of buffett is quite extensive. My only critiisim would be the room lighting which was fairly poor, outerwise a compact but comfortable room.

This hotel was an excellent choice when we arrived the service at the front of the desk was very welcoming. The room was fantastic as it was clean and comfortable however the view from the room was less than impressive but thats why you go on holiday to get out of the hotel and see the sights of Amsterdam. In terms of location the Golden Tulip was spot on, it is approx 5 mins from the station, 5-10 mins from all the canal boat tours and the main stretch of Amsterdam which contains many shops and restaurants. So to conclude this is a hassle free hotel in a great location and worthy of a stay.

The room was functional and a little awkward to get to due to the layout of the hotel. It was clean and presentable and perfectly OK for a flying visit. Breakfast is probably best missed if, like me you eat virtually nothing and discover a 17 euro cost. If you are prepared to really get stuck in then in may be seen as acceptable. Otherwise go for a walk and find a small cafe.

Pleasantly surprised. Looked for a decent hotel in Amsterdam Centre, and got more. Walked from the station w/luggage. Very friendly check-in experience. They were clear about a choice between a room w/a view & street noise, or a w/o a view and quiet (we took latter). We received a small upgrade; lovely. Room was very clean, simple, contemporary, w/queen bed. Complimentary wireless. 2 elevators to the room (adjoining building), but that was no big deal. We passed on breakfast (15 euros each add'l), but there was an amazing coffee place about 15' away. And breakfast in many other places almost that close. Location was central to everything we wanted. There were cheaper places, but this was more than we expected for the $.

I expected more from the Golden Tulip, but was disappointed with the small room, very poor shower and noisy room. The room was clean enough, but cramped for 2 people, and the water pressure in the shower was pretty poor, with the temperature fluctuating a lot. The location is good, in the centre of Amsterdam and there are some cafe's and restaurants just outside the entrance. I suppose you get what you pay for, we got the room quite cheap, if you pay more you might get a more quiet and luxurious room.

The free use of the internet was also a boon when it came to checking in for the flight on line. This modern and comfortable hotel was in a fantastic location for central station and trams allowed us to visit other parts of the city very easily. On arrival the staff were very helpful and supplied us with a map and indicated how we should get to the places we wanted to visit. our room was lovely (we even got a personal welcome message on the tv screen!), it was tidied to perfection once we had left each day and fresh towels were supplied. However the room was a little cold after we had been out all day but a flick of the switch on the radiator heated the room quite quickly so we cant really fault this! The bar was lovely and cosy too, including internet access on 2 computers. During our stay we opted for no breakfast as it cost E20 which was a little steep...we did get a E3.50 discount voucher on arrival but didnt use it!!!In general, we would definetly stay here again as it was a bargain considerin we would pay twice the price at home for a hotel that wouldnt provide as much as we recieved in the Golden Tilip! Thanks for making our stay most enjoyable!Be ready for us as we're sure to be back!!!!!!!!!

Me and my boyfriend went to this hotel for a long weekend for his birthday. Have to say this hotel was brilliant! There is a Tuplip Inn directly opposite the GOLDEN Tulip Inn which is a little confusing?! The location was spot on. Right in the centre 5 - 10 minutes wall the the Dam Square. There is APSOLUTELY no need to get a taxi to the hotel from the airport - just get the train and walk from the trainstation - its liturally a 5 minute walk and really not that hard to find. Saves a good 40EUR!! Our hotel room was immaculate, the pictures of people above the bed are a little creepy though! You could hear a little bit of noise from outside - mainly the trams - but most deffinately doesn't effect your sleep! Was a little pricey... but most things in Amsterdam are, so what do you expect!
