Room was good - a great value for the price! Just a few minor complaints - TV remote didn't work; a little noisy late at night (Saturday night; we were next to the elevator). Beds: very comfortable. Pillows, not so much (overly firm). Bathroom small but clean, bath/shower good, water pressure and temperature fine. Nice pool, adequate gym. Convenient in/out parking, reduced price with hotel validation. Front desk staff: helpful and polite.

"Convenient and cost effective"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 1, 2012
I booked 3 rooms for 2 days stay and found an overall good experience. 2 of the rooms were in good shape, but the third had a bad odor. We didn't notice it at first, but started to get worse. Didn't bother us so because we were hardly in the rooms so we stuck with it. Staff was friendly and helpful. Rooms are little too close to each other and at times, you can hear next door neighbors if they are loud. It's not in the best location. Had to walk 15-20 mins until you get to the heart of nightlife scene. For the price, it was worth it.

"Intercontinental Montreal"
Overall the hotel was great! Very convenient location. Sits atop a Metro station which was wonderful, particularly since it was below zero for the 2 days we were there. But that's part of the Montreal experience. Simply turn the corner to awesome restaurants in Old Montreal. Central train station is 5 minutes walk or 1 subway/metro stop away. Only […] issue with hotel was getting directions & recommendations. Staff was friendly but I felt a better job could be done outlining cafes, bars, restaurants in immediate area. I was directed to a Starbucks for coffee one morning, instead we ended up walking and found a number of cool local cafes. Would be simple to print a hotel-centric map with everything laid out for guests. Read more
"Intercontinental Montreal, very sweet"
This was a very nice hotel with great service. Breakfast buffet was great but get it included in the price! plus cher
"Solid hotel for reasonable price"
Bed was comfortable as per usual at Intercontinentals. My only complaint was that there was not a "pillow selection" since they only had super-soft compressible soft down pillows that provide no support for side sleepers. Like pancakes. Otherwise, great hotel. Great location between downtown conference district and close to old montreal if you need […] to be in both, I walked to both. Service at the hotel was great. Concierge multiple times went "above and beyond". Great little lunch and coffee shop at ground level called Java U with fresh salads and sandwiches for cheap. The hotel is also connected to a small shopping center with some other options in a pinch. Read more
"great hotel"

Hotel staff are impolite especially at the reception at night otherwise room service staff are very Nice. The hotel should ensure That reception staff are not rude to clients

"Montreal Intercontinental."
Great location and very good rooms. The only negatives were: expensive wi-fi that was not reliable and when we went to the bar and restaurant there was no one to be found. They did say there was trouble with the WI-fi but didn't offer to refund any money at checkout and when the bartender and waite staff did come out the were friendly.
"good location, unsatisfying service"
I had to stay to this hotel cause it was the only one available for that night as there was major event in Montrial. the interior is very clean and in good condition but the colors are just SO DULL inside the rooms. for the same price there are many better hotels. the service wasn't very satisfying especially when I asked the bell man to get my luggage […] I waited in my room for 40 mins and no one showed, and when I went downstairs and asked them again to bring the luggage it took another 40mins! that was just unacceptable. Also they all seemed always busy all the time and at some points there was only one person at the reception and a long line of customers waiting to check in or out. Read more

"Great overall experience"
Not only was the hotel staff friendly and inviting, they went out of their way to offer us help or suggest places to go/things to see. The bartender ended up being a friend by the time we left. The room was very clean, spacious, and comfortable with great views of Montreal. The location of this hotel is perfect bordering both Old Montreal and the city […] center. We walked everywhere we wanted to go within a few minutes. The only inconvenience was that the elevators were under construction and not running as often as usual so in every ride up and down we were packed like sardines. This is temporary. Read more
"The Interontinental Motreal"
In searching for a hotel in Montreal we ended up selecting the Intercontinental because of its alleged great service (which was reflected in the hotel's price). Although the amenities and upkeep of the hotel were good, the customer service was deplorable. The front desk was of no help to us all weekend. First, we were placed in a much smaller room […] than the rest of our friends (with an older bathroom and layout). We requested a different room on consecutive days but were rebuffed as though they were doing us a favor just to talk to us. During the trip my wife's glasses broke. We asked for a recommendation for a repair place. The attendant behind the front desk could not offer a single suggestion (even though the nearby mall has no less than 4 eyeglass places) and offered to have their "technician" look at the glasses. After not hearing back from the front desk for several hours (while they kept the glasses) we went back down stairs only to have them say there was nothing they could do. We found a convenience store nearby ourselves, bought some glue and fixed them in 5 minutes. On our departure day we again (mistakenly) requested if we could have a late checkout. We were told the latest they could do was 12:00 PM - which is the same time as the standard check out time. Once down stairs, however, the couple in front of us a the front desk were allowed a 2 PM check out (and other members of our traveling party were given until 1 PM). The service along with the front desk personnels' attittude was terrible. Stay at any number of other area hotels. Read more
"Almost perfect"
Everything was terrific and the restaurant is really excellent. I had a hard time to get proper service for the refill of coffee. One day I was missing coffee, one day the creamer, one day the cup, one day everything so make sure before going to bed that this service - most basic in the cheapeast hotels - is properly done.
"it's an Intercontinental, but"
The staff was nice, the buffet breakfast and club lounge very good. The room was nice. BUT housekeeping had some issues. They didn't replace discarded linen completely and they didn't clean the shower and bath every day. Also the bookkeeping was iffy. We paid extra for a club room for which internet should not have been charged. At checkout we noticed […] our bill had internet charges on it. They took them off at our request, but they Also we were supposed to have 3PM checkout. I double checked with them, but going back to our room at 1:00PM the key did not work. They should have fixed it right the first time. Also I chose the hotel partly because it has a pool, but the pool was too hot to swim in. Read more
"Great hotel!"
Very nice hotel. Not new, but in great condition. Well appointed rooms. Great location. Within walking distance to Old Town attractions. The restaurant is good, but it's overrated on OpenTable, in my opinion. The wine selection is abysmal! (as are most Montreal restaurants...) For the money, this is a great hotel.

"Beautiful hotel, great location"
The hotel is wonderfully situated between the old city and the city center. The room and bathroom were really nicely appointed, with lots of room. Only problem was the check-in desk, which we found cold and unfriendly. However, the concierge services were very helpful and nice.
"Intercontinental - Close to everything"
The hotel itself was excellent. That it was only a 5 minute walk to both the Jazz Festival and Old Port (in opposite directions) made it the perfect location for a four day stay. The staff was attentive and the concierge was magnificent.
"intercontinental montreal"
Room and housekeeping were very good. Osco for breakfast was very good. Checking in/checking out, very good. Service, very good. Public areas, i.e., elevators, floors, ladies room, carpeting, etc. very poor condition and poorly maintained for a hotel of this reputation.
"Intercontintenal Montreal"
We loved the location because we could walk everywhere in the Old City. On our arrival (by car ) we chose to self park. the bell man was rude and never offered to take our luggage at the curb. He also was snippy when we asked him about taxi service and just pointed to the curb. The concierge on duty ( a man) during the weekend was also rude. He never […] looked up from his computer and when we asked about outside dining he said he only knew about one place. Are you kidding me!!! We finally went to the Embassy Suites down the street where the concierge was so nice and helpful I will say the woman who arrived at the desk on Monday was a delight and very informative. Attitude is what is all about. The room was very dark and the TV's sound was extremly low on certain channels Allin all Montreal is a beautiful city. The hotel really just needs to tweak its attide because the location is great. Merci Read more
"Old Montreal InterContinental"
Good location adjacent to Old Montreal and very short taxi to Peel St restaurants area. Everything is spacious in the room - except the shower curtain blows in to stick to your skin. Prompt elevator arrivals to your floor. Didn't eat in hotel.

"Great hotel"
Very nice hotel, located a few steps from the convention center and walking distance of most Montreal attractions. Accessible by train or bus too. For additional 10 dollars a day you have high speed internet and unlimited world wide long distance phone calls, that was cool.

The mini bar was locked and they said we would open it after paying the room fee, although we have paid before.at last they found it.it has great location.
"Intercontinental Montreal : the best of 2 worlds"
Enjoy Old Montreal, art galleries, museums¸ Place des Arts, shopping and Toqué right next to you.
"Intercontinental montreal"
Great hotel. Initial disappointment was due to false advertising by hotels.com. The actual hotel was very helpful and upgraded me to a nicer room. They also allowed me to pay a little extra to get a fabulous suite that included access to the club level breakfast room. Bed was very comfortable. Rooms nicely designed. The location is perfect. It is […] connected to the underground (which is really helpful when it's snowing and you are from Texas!) and it's right at the edge of the old town which is very cute. I would stay here again! "Fantastic Stay!"
I booked this hotel for one night for 4 ladies as a girls-away weekend for my Birthday. Closer to the date, 2 of the guests could no longer attend. When checking in I mentioned this and was upgraded to a larger room on the 24th floor, still with 2 beds. This was extremely kind, and the employee- Roxanne- was very nice and helpful. Everything else […] about the hotel was perfect. The room was beautiful, the bathroom was large. Location was perfect. The concierge was knowledgeable and helpful. Walking distance to Old Montreal and shopping on St. Catherine's. We did try the hotel bar- Sarah B. and while the drinks were delicious (absinthe margaritas) the service was slow and we got more information out of Roxanne at check-in then from the wait staff. The atmosphere of the bar is also not as nice as advertised. Staff remembered us the next day while checking out, and they stored our bags for free until it was time to leave the city. The best 4 star hotel I have stayed at in Montreal yet, and I will certainly return. Read more
"The Intercontinental Hotel in Montreal"
Excellent hotel in an excellent location. Our room was incredible with 180 degree views of the city. Close to beautiful Old Montreal, amazing shopping, restaurants. I will definitely want to come back. The whole experience was very memorable and I would recommend staying here to everyone!!!!!
"Intercontinental Hotel, Montreal - Fabulous"
The Intercontinental is one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in for this price range, and I travel a lot. It has been newly renovated and looks beautiful, it's in a wonderful location in Montreal, and the room was so comfortable. I used to live n Montreal and always enjoy visiting so I can play the tourist. This location is close to Old Montreal […] - the closest thing to an elegant European city that exists in North America - but also to the modern downtown with its fabulous shopping. The service was excellent. I would definitely choose this hotel again when I go back - which can't come soon enough for me! Read more

"Great hotel- okay service"
This hotel is beautiful, but the servers in the hotel bar/restaurant seemed annoyed that we were American's and didn't pronounce things the way they do. They also rushed us out. If it weren't for them, I would give it a 5!
"modern design, excellent staff"
I'm from NY USA, this hotel is newly renovated with a complete Canadian touch, very heavy modern design, it might take a couple of minutes to get use to it, but the staff was absolutely nice, the entire hotel is spotless clean, the beds were very comfortable, -and don't forget- it was all for a good price... it does not have a game room but it does […] have an up-to-date fitness center. if you don't really have a problem with people looking a you -since you are an American, I would recommend you to stay there. "Excellent Hotel - Loved it"
Great service and friendly staff Pool excellent, warm good size for being indoor. Gym 24 hour access excellent. Clean 4 treadmills, cycle, free weights, clean towels and other equipment. Only negative was in room wifi or internet - additional charge and in todays world these features should be free
"Small double beds"
The hotel was great, the people so nice but we needed 2 double beds since we had 3 people in the room. Thank god we were close because these were large twins at best. I loved the room which was very large and easily could have taken a much larger bed.
"The worst hotel experience"
A maid came into our room without saying anything. We were being intimate in bed and it was extremely embarrassing. The maid didn't speak english and by the time she walked in on us, We barely had time to cover ourselves with bedsheets. The steamroom/sauna were OK. the pool was very cold and was not heated. The in room entertainment/pay per view movie […] system wasn't working and the hotel offered a new room but we were staying there for one night so we didn't bother the hotel by changing the room. When we came back to our hotel after a night out, the hotel was going to an electricity maintenance. The elevator wasn't working and we had to wait about 10 minutes in the lobby. by the time we got back to our room, there was no electricity for anything but for one light. I am sure the hotel schedules their maintenances in advance and It was not noted at the time of booking by the hotel or on hotels.com. I don't think this is an honest way of doing business. Late night room service, the service was fast but the food was horrible. At check out, I've told the staff what happened and the staff was getting annoyed and did not even apologize. She merely said she could've offered free breakfast if i had complained when it happened with "too bad but oh well" kinda tone of voice. Read more
