"Close to State Street, Wilis Tower, Art Museum"
Good quality room near a lot of must see locations. You can get coffee or lunch right across the street. Easy to get a cab and within a couple of miles of almost everything. Work out room has a great view of the city. Not the best family hotel. No pool and really quiet. Parking a car is not convenient.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Easy walking distance to where I need to go. No on-site restaurant, however they told me one was opening up soon.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The staff was great. They really went out of their way to help us with anything we needed. The only downsides to the hotel were that there was no on site dining or parking. You could however order food for delivery and the place next door could even be charged to your hotel account.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
During a two night weekend stay, I encountered many distrubing situations at The Windham Blake. We had to change keys to our room seven times during the 2 nights. Each key only worked one time, then the door lock would reset requiring a new key. The simple task of going to get ice from the vending machine became daunting. Second, our TV went out on […] the second day and took hours to repair. Lastly, even though our room tempature was set at 70 degrees it was unbelievely hot. It took over 8 hours for the engineer to fix the problem. This was all in a 2 night stay and would hate to have spent any longer at this hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Room and Location for business"
The hotel has a boutique feel - not much in the way of amenities - gym was fine - meeting rooms and available conference rooms a bonus - when the Cafe in one end of the building opens - it will be great - beat the lines at Starbucks over the road -- bar service in the lobby was good in the evenings - but the lobby doors created a freezing draft - that […] needs to be worked out so that the comfort in the lobby is improved. The room was quiet and perfect - great for working in and the price was right for a big city. "Room Not as Described/In Need of Repairs"
Overall, the hotel was just ok. The staff were friendly, but did not ask how our room was upon checkout. The amenities were not as described in the Hotels.com summary of the room, which was disappointing (no robes, no tub, TV was there but channels did not come in dependably). The room was clean, however the condition of the room was only fair-many […] things were in need repair/updating. The bathroom did not have a fan (meaning no way to clear the mirror for use after showering), paint was chipping off the walls and ceiling, fixtures were loose, etc. During the times we were in the room, the TV channels would not come in consistently due to weak signals. I think for the cost of the room there are likely many other hotels in the vicinity that are nicer to stay at. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Hotel staff was amazing! The room had been cleaned, but the air vent was really dirty and I could not tell if the tile on the shower floor was just discolored or had mold on it.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"one week stay for vacation and Chicago Marathon"
Pleasant, friendly staff. Clean room. Great location in a historic neighbourhood. However, there was one big problem for me. There is a ventilation system that runs through the core of the building, it draws out air from the bathrooms - it always runs. At night, when I lay in bed there was an annoying metallic oscillation sound that was a big, big distraction. […] It's was very important for me to be able to get a good nights sleep before the Chicago Marathon. The staff offered me a very nice suite however the noise was the same. The hotel engineer visited and we assessed the situation (I myself am an enginner [electrical]) - things turned a little comical when he started placing toilet paper across the vent to block the drawing of the air. This did not reduce the sound. It was worth watching due the situation of being in such a nice hotel and resorting to putting toilet paper in a vent. Anyway I thank him for trying. Next next tactic was to mask the sound. So the hotel engineer brought in a fan - one of the cheap box type fans. It was not a good solution. In the end, I found that opening a windows lets in a more random sound from the city and helped to mask the sound. I also slept in the reverse direction, with my head away from the wall. This ventilation sound was a terrible thing for me. Again, nice people, clean, well-kept hotel. But if you can't sleep due to an metallic, oscillation sound from the ventilation system it's not worth staying there again. I am not happy. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"You get what you pay for"
The only reason I choose this hotel is off the beaten path but was close to my destination. This is an old hotel so I did not expect a modern or upgraded facility. But I did expect the standards of a comfortable room. The entire room smelled damp and musty; the air conditioner fan was very loud and had to run all night as the room temp would not go […] below 77 degrees. The shower tiles were dark and stained, and the room lighting was terrible. The room was clean but did not feel that way. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"WEFTEC Show at McCormick Place"
Hotel itself was fine. But understand that it's Chicago and overnight parking is extra and not cheap!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
All the hotels in downtown Chicago seem overpriced, and this was no exception. But we needed to stay downtown for a weekend event, and this place was no more outrageous than other places. Our room was nice enough. The air conditioning never really got the room as comfortable as I would have liked. The bathroom was poorly designed, though. It had a shower, […] but instead of a sliding shower door or curtain, it had a fixed glass panel that only extended about half the length of the shower. So every time we took a shower, water soaked the bathroom floor and entryway to the room. And since the glass panel wasn't moveable, the only way to turn on the shower water was to stand in front of it, guaranteeing that you get hit with a blast of cold water. Otherwise, the hotel was o.k. It had a nice workout room and a very small bar in the lobby. The only ice machine is on the 12th floor. No restaurant, but there are a couple of restaurants on the same block as well as a convenience store. Overall, it was an o.k. place to stay, but I would look for alternatives next time. "A hidden gem"
A very simply good hotel that is centrally located in downtown Chicago. I had the view of Harold Washington Library out of my window on the 7th floor - pretty astounding during sunset and sunrise. The windows though overlooked the windows of another building so parading around naked is out of the question - if that's your thing :) the shower is funky […] with just a glass panel attached to one side - you couldn't move it and had to walk in to turn the water on. Just wrap in a towel (they give you plenty!) and no problem. Service was great, taxis, directions, change - a drink by the bar before you head out for the evening. Very close to everything, the LaSalle Blue line CTA train station, the library, Michigan Ave is a few minutes walk away. I definitely recommend and will stay there again. "Nice hotel. poor service. misinformation"
Hotel was nice with nice location but information was inconsistant. Reserved 1 king suite and was advised I cld change to a double suite at checkin. Went to ck in and was advised all suites were king. Told we cld have two rollway beds at desk and they only brought one. Told they cldn't have two in a room. Spoke to manager and got second one for suite. […] Asked for 6 glasses, said they would have to find them. They brought them but never cleaned them or changed out with new ones. After looking at the hotel's pictures online, I thought I had made a good choice. Sadly, the room we were given looked nothing like the pictures online. It had several marks on the walls, a cracked, chipped air conditioning grate, a cracked marble sink and generally looked like it was in a state of disrepair. Also, the glass shower had no door, clearly […] not a functional choice. The bottom line was that we did not get what we paid for. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Staff was very friendly and helpful. Geno's east is across the street for some great pizza and local beer. The Orange line from midway drops you 2 blocks from the hotel. Room was decent and the beds were comfortable. Iwould dedefinitely recommend for the priceGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Really love the feel of this hotel"
I really loved my stay at the Wyndham Blake. I've been working in the city for a few weeks, and I've been staying at a different hotel each week just to get a variety of views of Chicago for the limited time that I was expecting to be here. By the time I got to the Wyndham Drake, I had already been to 3 other hotels in the very local surrounding area. […] Some of these were big names, some small. As soon as I saw my room, I booked the same hotel for the very next week, and broke my own set goals. The people were, by far, the best that I've encountered, and the rooms are gorgeous. The old building feel is really cool, and the amenities are modern. Great combo of style and comfort. This week, I'm at a different hotel, and I regretted the choice within minutes. Wish I was back at the WB. :( Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great for a nearby conference"
I stayed at this hotel while attending a conference at the Hilton Chicago and Palmer House (it's between them but closer to Hilton Chicago). I would rate the stay as okay. We left the hotel less than satisfied. The front desk staff was very nice and accommodating, but the bellhop and valet staff were pretty rude and discourteous. "Comfortable but needs some updates"
We didn't have any major complaints about the Wyndham Blake, but I was slightly disappointed with our room. There were a couple small problems that added up - the sink was clogged, the hairdryer was so old it barely worked, there were stains on the bedspread, the view out of the window was of a brick wall, the restaurant was closed for renovations, […] etc. Nothing bad enough to make us want to formally complain, but enough that I wished we had paid a little more for a nicer hotel. "Nice Hotel, A Bit Inconvenient"
The guestroom was very nice, clean, and had good quality furniture and linens. The hotel itself was great with a clean lobby and helpful staff. The Wyndham Blake loses points in convenience, though. For instance, there wasn't a refrigerator in our room and the only ice machine is on the 12th floor, which is only accessible through the sometimes slow […] elevator because the 12th floor stairway door is always locked. Also, there is no on-site parking (yes, I realize that this is the case with most hotels in the city) so guests are left to either fend for themselves among the VERY few public parking lots in the area or valet their vehicle. I chose to valet because I got sick of driving around for 30 minutes trying to find a parking space and was disappointed that upon checkout and receiving my car from the valet service (which ISN'T cheap) that there was a door ding on the passenger side of my car. The neighborhood surrounding the hotel is nice, however if you're planning to go to Navy Pier you'd be better off taking a cab. Overall, we were fairly pleased with the room itself, but next time we will most likely choose a different hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"So close to first rate, but ..."
GOOD: Wi-Fi and cell phone reception were superb. One of the best beds I ever slept in. Room large and well-furnished. BAD: Room lighting is inadequate bordering on unacceptable - this accounts for low "Room comfort" rating. The half door on shower makes it impossible not to get water on the bathroom floor outside the shower stall.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Not as advertised"
There was not enough staff upon arrival, because I had to wait to check in while he made drinks. I believe I was moved to a handicapped room, as I did not have a permanent shower head, just a detachable one that would not stay in place. NO alarm clock in room, or clock of any type in room, like the hotel advertises they have ipod dock chargers and alarm […] clocks in every room.
