All in all, a nice experience. Location is excellent - just steps away from the outdoor shopping area and mass transit. Also an easy walk to the river and water taxis.

I sed this hotel as a stop over for 3 nights having arrived from the UK late at night. The staff were helpful and suggested some local fast food places which were open late to eat. Perfect position in Brisbane on King George Square, couldn't be better. Room was good with comfortable bed and pillows and serviced daily. We stayed in the Mercure (not the upmarket Pullman) tower, three couples in Brisbane for a theatre and shopping weekend. The rooms are small but adequate for two, reasonable hanging and drawer space, coffee/tea and well-stocked minibar. The decor and equipment is OK but all looking a bit tired and worn. Street noise is very low, thanks to double-glazing. […] The bar and restaurant are fine. We only ate breakfast, which was a good buffet-style with a big selection/variety. Hotel is centrally located, dinner in the restaurant was nice but the range of food was limited. Service was good, even with the mix up of room types. First time to stay here and spent three days. Great central location, nice staff and good (but poor selection) of food. It was Christmas so most of the hotel facilities were closed which was most disappointing and we were not made aware prior. Rooms are really clean and provide to needs but it is an old hotel and it shows in the standard of rooms, facilities, […] and style of furnishing. Our room was clean and maintained which was all we needed but had no frills (eg the bathroom was of a standard to be found in a hospital or such) so we spent little time there and only used it to sleep. As I was expecting a 4.5 star hotel I suppose my expectations were higher but I understand that it is about to have a make over so perhaps the newly updated hotel will be more to rating standards. Recommend if you want location and just the basics. Looking forward to see how it transforms over the next year. Read more

We found it a great place to stay until a family with young kids checked into next rooms. Their doors were making incredible banging noise almost once or twice every ten minutes until after midnight and again from very early in the morning!!! Later we found our room door was also making loud noise when closed too!!! Poor maintenance?

Extremely disappointing for the price I was paying. Just a shower, no bath. The toilet seat would not stay up, which is an issue I expect in some private residences where the seat has been installed by an amateur, not in a hotel. Great location. Nice bar and restaurant. Had a small issue with the air-conditioner but this was fixed when requested. Nice staff and very helpfull. We would stay there again. We had a room on the corner with three windows and there was no traffice noise, nice and quiet room.

Citigate King George Square is in perfect location to everything in the Brisbane CBD. Under ground bus station right outside, Central Train station and Queen Street Mall all within a short walking distance from the Hotel. I had booked a twin room at the hotel several months ago and requested twin beds as I was taking my daughter to Brisbane for her birthday. It seems the hotel got a number of "group" bookings so ours was bumped and we were given one double bed in the room - after some discussion we were provided with a trundle at no extra cost however it was a disappointing […] part of our weekend away. My husband and I spent 3 nights in the Citigate to attend two concerts in Brisbane. The location is fantastic, an easy walk to South Bank, Riverside and to catch the ferry or train. Due to alot of rain, and the cancellation of one of the concerts, we spent more time in our room than planned. The room was extremely clean and and the bed was very comfortable […] (we caught up on some sleep!). We did not end up eating at the restaurant in the hotel, as we set on visting some more exotic asian restaurants but it looked good and was busy each night. A warning on extra expenses...parking is $25 a day (which we knew in advance due to other comments on this site) and internet is $0.55 a minute or $29 for the day...which is simply ridiculous. In lieu of using the internet, I talked to the concierge(s) about things to see and do in Brisbane. They were very helpful and accomodating and looked up many venues/ movies/restaurants for us. I stayed in the Citigate bit of this Citygate-Sebel hotel. My room was very comfortable and maintained to a high standard each day. I had a nice view over the town hall across the road from the 14th floor. The hotel is on King George Square (i.e. very central) with the Queen Street Mall (lots of shops) nearby. It is extremely convenient for Central […] Station (a few blocks away) and all shopping/entertainment/transport options. The river is also easy strolling distance.
