Renovated in 2009, Gran Hotel Cervantes' guestrooms are classically styled with wooden floors, Castilian-style dark wood furnishings and patterned floral fabrics. All are equipped with satellite TV, direct-dial telephone, air conditioning, wireless Internet access (surcharge), and in-room safe (surcharge). All rooms have spacious terraces and most have panoramic sea views. Bathrooms are modern and include bidets and hair dryers.
Great location, close to city centre and 3 minute walk to train station, 10 minute walk for the beach downhill. The only negatives: Small single room (not a deal breaker), small elevators, and the carpet on the room floors old and dirty. Everything else very good.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Staff are the issue - Just Okay, Shame Though !"
We booked this hotel as it was only 15 minute’s drive from the airport, we needed something that was in the middle of Marbella and Malaga. Rooms The rooms very clean however they were basic (think of a travel lodge) there was a fridge but no kettle or tea/coffee facilities. Power shower was good. Public Areas + Pool When I pulled up outside the […] hotel I was think, opps what have I done, it’s a bright yellow high rise, that said internally the lobby and public areas are modern, clean and cool temperature wise. There are 2 bar areas, one closes at 11ish and the other about 1. The pool area was clean and tidy, the pool itself was excellent even though it was cold. It is a 3 metre depth pool. Staff The staff are my only main issue, if you don’t speak any Spanish your stay could be quite difficult, especially in the bar – ordering a drinks and a bar snack if very difficult, I overheard a few All Inclusive customers complain that the bar only gave them half pints oppose to full pints. Some of the staff are moody and when I tried to order food it felt like he was doing me a favour. Cost If you are not going AI don’t buy to many drinks, there is a supermarket that is directly across the road so go and buy your beers there and drink them by the pool. I will say, the hotel seems to be fine with escorts touting for their business in the hotel bar, I asked the receptionist why they allowed them in and she replied they are no hassle !! Lots of pick pockets in the area !! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Good quality hotel"
Good quality hotel, designed to make guests' stay as comfortable as possible; only slight grumble in an otherwise excellent stay was that food offering could provide more choice for a 4 star but not a reason for not staying in thise hotel again as overall a good experienceGenuine Expedia guest review

"Nice location "Surprisingly good experience""
I returned from my stay at Gran Hotel Cervantes just last night. The hotel itself is clean, well-tended, and in good shape, with reasonably comfortable beds. I was very pleasantly surprised by how thoroughly our room was cleaned each day it was a corner room attractively furnished with a balcony overlooking the sea no. 601, but It didn't receive much […] of the sun, however (although the balconies of many other rooms did). The house-keeping was spectacular. Would definitely return. However, the roof top swimming pool it’s a must.... The location of this hotel is excellent, right in the centre of Torremolinos also five minutes walk from the railway station, and the service from the reception staff was efficient and friendly. "Good resort hotel"
We've chosen this location as it centrally situated to our points of interests (not because of its beach#; so we had daily trips to Ronda, Granada, Malaga, Cordoba. Good resort hotel; a few important notes though - has indoor #on the roof with stunning view# and outdoor pools but has no change rooms or towel service; located on the hill about 10-15 […] minutes from the beach #elevator or stairs#; parking 15 euro per day; breakfast is decent but has same things every day; after travelling in Madrid and Seville and eating out spanish cuisine at its best, the quality of restaurants in this Torremolinos hotel and surrounding area is very questionable, completely lacks Spanish cuisine #I guess this is normal for tourist areas) Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Have used this Hotel for about 6 times now, the first 4 times it was good but the last 2 times not so good and this time in March 2012, Well, they seem to be going down market with their guests, offering all inclusive deals, not a pretty sight when all they want to do, is see how much booze they can get down their throats, numerous drinks up to their […] rooms and think it is ok to sit on their balcony talking and laughing half the night, while other want to sleep, won't be going back again, another hotel next time, pity, as it is a very good central location. Quite good hotel with easy access to the town, staff very friendly, hotel looks very clean!Genuine Expedia guest review
It is very good hotel except that parking is not free in the hotel and Wi-Fi you have to pay almost 4pounds for 45 minutes if you want to use it. if you want free parking it is free around the hotel so you do not have to pay 15 euros a day to park inside the hotel. the overall is good to stay in this hotel. If I go back I will stay in the hotel.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Could be a Great Hotel"
I stayed here low-season on an all-inclusive basis for a bargain basement price. The hotel was very nice but having stayed there a couple of years before standards had slipped a little. It was quite frustrating having only one very thin bath towel in the room, particularly if you wanted to go for a swim (hardly in keeping with it's 4 star rating#. The […] evening meal was served from 7 pm to 10 pm [really - who eats at 10 pm?] It would have been more convenient to have this earlier for those of us who liked to head out that evening. As the food was buffet style it was sometimes undercooked #I had to leave some very pink pork) - so be careful what you choose. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

We read mixed reviews on this hotel but decided to make our own mind up. Looked good from the outside. The check in was very smooth with no problems, reception staff spoke good English and were helpful. Our room was on the 4th floor with a sea view. The bedroom was very clean and tidy but a bit dated. The bathroom was clean and tidy and had been refurbished. […] Toiletteries were supplied and clean towels each day. We stayed on an all inclusive basis, all meals were buffet style. The selection was very good. We were allocated a table promptly, the staff were polite and cleared the table promptly. The bar service (Antonio) was very good with an excellent choice of drinks. Lots to see and do in the vicinity, although our stay was out of season so many places were closed. This hotel was great value for money, we stayed for a long weekend. Only downside was the lifts, we walked down but would have preferred to take the lift up. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"A little bit of embarrasment"
The hotel is very good in lots of respects, although it is a little let down by the food. It is only average. We were a party of 10 booking 6 rooms all with sea view and when we checked in, and had been given our room key cards, two of the rooms were already occupied and the occupants were in the rooms having a siesta. As the key cards were activated, […] there was embarrasment all round apart form the reception at the hotel who just laughed it off and reallocated two more rooms. The point of saying this is that if the occupied rooms did not have the occupants in at the time, and other people have a key card, who is to say what could happen to possesions in the room. Light bulb blown in one bedside light & not replaced - otherwise everything else fine. Had half board & the food was very good, with a good selection for all types of diets. The breakfast bar held cereals & biscuits especially for diabetics. I felt the reception & bar staff could have been more friendly & smile a bit more but I would not hesitate to […] recommend the Cervantes Hotel & would certainly like to return there again. Shuttle bus from the airport to the hotel was a very comfortable 49 seater coach & I was the only passenger on board but on the return journey there were a few more on board, but still plenty of room. Assistance at the airport was very good especially as I needed a wheel chair to get me through customs & to the plane. All very helpful. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"seen better days"
should be a three star hotel disappointments: no real fruit juices for breakfast; daily charge for room safe; gym weights equipment not maintained and were not usable; swimming pool could have been cleaner; no free internet at all; even in communal areas; lifts were slow and went in wrong direction the good: the buffet was excellent; facilities okGenuine Expedia guest review
"Perhaps it has been better....."
Hmmm, We stayed for a week at Gran Hotel Cervantes, and we were quite disappointed. 4 star hotels usually offer more convinience htan we found - "Internet zone = 1 PC for we don't know how many peoples". Breakfast a mix of spanish and british breakfast, sloppy bacon, boring dry bread, coffe machines that always had some troubles, juice which was not […] to recognize, we will call it water with some sharp tasting substance in it! Fruit which 4 of 7 days was old and not looking fresh - it feld quite like the Gran Hotel Cervantes directly went after "All Inclusive" guests that looks for the amount of food, drinks and facilities, not the quality. Prices on a parking lot in the cellar is almost "airport level". Staff on hotel was OK, but not very helpfull if you asked for anything whit just a bit of a challenge. Nearby surroundings looks a bit "wearn out" - but there's some good nearby restaurants which offer very good food in a very good quality to a nice price - and a huge variaty. "A great stay!"
The hotel was welcoming, friendly, spotlessly clean and extremely well run. The breakfast options were the best I have ever seen. There was a fantastic choice, all fresh and beautifully presented. It's right in the centre of the town and very easy to get down to the beach using the lift. The only downside was that the corridors echo and some guests […] were not mindful that others were sleeping. I would certainly stay there again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"A very well located hotel with pleasant staff."
The exterior of the hotel is rather dated with 1960s architecture. However, the location, superb views and array of facilities make the Cervantes ideal for leisure and business travellers alike. The reception staff are very friendly and helpful and speak several European Languages. The hotel caters for a vast array of people ranging from business people […] to families on holidays. The breakfast was very good and the evening buffet was reasonable at Euro18 per person. The hotel is located near to the train station. Access to the beach is not well sign posted but is rather easy with the choice of either a lift or a winding path. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"A very good hotel"
I think the location was very good. The hotel is situated just in the middle of Torremolinos. It is only two to five minutes walk to a lot of resturants and only a few minute walk to some big supermarkets and two fast food resturants. A very very clean hotel with friendly staff. When you walk to the beach on the street in front of the hotel you can […] either take the stairs (about 10 minutes walk to the beach) or you can take an escalator for a small charge and then walk for 5 minutes. Pretty easy to park the car nearby the hotel free of charge. I would stay here again! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Town Centre Location"
Hotel located a few minutes from railway station. Only 4 stops from Malaga Airport so very convenient and easy to get to Airport. Cost 1.40 euros each way. Trains every 20 minutes. Although in centre of town and very convenient for town, if you wanted to regularly go to the beach, this could be a bit of a problem because it was quite a hike down and […] up from the hotel, via many steps or there is a lift for 50 cents each way. For travel to other towns via train or bus, excellent location, and as we like walking, the distance from the beach was not a problem to us, but was for some. Some noise late at night from outside the hotel bar, particularly if there were a few all inclusive guests out there drinking until 1 am. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"All Close at Hand"
This hotel is so convenient within a stones throw from the train station which is a 15 minute trip from Malaga airport. Torremolinos has all you need and if you walk down the steps or take the lift to the beach you can walk for miles toward Benalmedane port which is a lovely. The staff made us a cold buffet dinner as we arrived at 11pm at night and […] I was very impressed with this as well as being able to leave bags and shower in the evening when we had vacated our room at 10am. "A good all-rounder"
Stayed at this hotel for the last four years. Very popular for German guests with the English being a minority. A large 10-floor complex with just four 6-person lifts. During this stay two of these lifts were out-of-order on five separate occasions causing 5 to 10 minute waits (even worse around breakfast time). For the last week in September they closed […] the roof top swimming pool and gym, so the ground-floor outside pool was packed. Has a room safe but this costs extra. Discovered an empty fridge were the mini-bar usually is (below the TV). The TV is an old 4:3 CRT and badly tuned. In addition to the Spanish channels they are a handful of German channels. The only English channel was EuroSports - no BBC news! Housekeeping varied - some days you would get a full compliment of towels, soap etc. then other days used items would disappear but not be replaced. WiFi is only available in the lobby - and expensive! Despite these irritations the location of the hotel in central Torremolinos makes it a good choice. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Convenient Location, would go back"
We stayed at this Hotel for two nights following a Cruise out of Malaga, and as we did not eat here, I can not comment on the meals, but the location of the Hotel is very convenient for the local buses and a very good metro type train service going as far as Malaga to the north and Fuengirola to the south. The room was spacious and the beds were comfortable, […] but I did have to ask for a second pillow, which was supplied. Overall this is a nice hotel with a quite small pool area considering the size of the hotel, but a place I could well recommend. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Seemed like a 3 star, a bit dated but overall not too bad. Goodt Breakfast (extra) and wonder why internet (wifi) is a expensive surcharge when McDonalds gives it to you for free! This is 2011 and 4 star hotels shouldn't be holding the internet hostage!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Another enjoyable stay"
We returned for another long weekend and were pleased we did. The hotel is clean, in a great location well away from the beach, and the staff are very helpful and efficient. The buffet breakfasts and dinners are good and there is always something interesting to eat, and no pressure to eat up and leave. Best thing about the hotel is the roof top pool […] - plenty sunbeds, nice breeze, peace and quiet and sunshine. Hotel is 10 mins by train from airport with train every 20 mins and costs € 1.55 each. Train to Malaga takes 25 mins and costs € 1.8 single. The Picasso Museum and the Cathedral are close together and both are stunning. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"a Great 3* Hotel, not 4"
a perfectly good hotel, very friendly and helpful staff - although the staff on reception could have been a bit better. the lift does take FOREVER and you have to climb a set of stairs from floor 8 to 9 which is where the rooftop pool is. as per other reviews, the public/communal areas of the hotel have been refurbished to look modern... but the rooms/beds […] are not. the bathroom is great and looks updated. Food was decent - breakfast was always good - dinner was ok. Nothing gourmet but certainly good enough with variety. location wise it was great. It is a short walk to the beach - and down a never ending flight of stairs (and the walk back up is a serious form of exercise each day). the hotel is in the centre of Torremolinos town with all the shops and restaurants surrounding it. Little noisy at night but nothing too bad at all. The beach area is great and again filled with very friendly locals... fantastic location and some lovely bars along the water front. Room was old looking, had no iron, kettle, pants press or internet point. The bed was like as hard as the floor. We had to pay to use the safe. "Hotel Cervantes - in the city center"
Nice hotel close to almost everything - shopping, nightlife and the beach. If you want to go to the beach the easiest way is to take the elevator down and the back again. Cost for the elevator is 0,50 €/jorney. The hotel has in room safes but that is not free of charge. They charge 3 €/night. This came as a surprise as they didn´t mention about a surcharge […] on hotels.com. There is also a minibar in the room - but believe it or not it´s totally empty. You need to order what you wanna have in the minibar. Crazy!! The best thing is to go to the closeby supermakets (Carrefour or Mercadona) and stuff the minibar yourself. Standard rooms face to the back of the hotel (avenue and a smaller street). If you aren´t a good sleeper or a party animal you need to take this into concideration. There can be a lot of noise especially during the weekends. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Well situated in the heart of the town minutes from all amenities only drawback is the distance to the beach which is down around 200 steps. Service was great and staff very helpful only a couple of minutes to the train station which connects all the towns on the coast. Breakfast was more than you could ask for with full English available as well as […] continental style all served via buffet tables and hotplates. Toast rolls and pastries in abundance with all accompaniments. This was the only meal we had in the hotel but the food was very good and always fresh. The rooms are a bit on the small side but all have balconies with town or sea views but they are spotlessly clean and serviced daily and thankfully air conditioned . "Gran cervantes - extras cost!"
Lovely hotel, good location, no kettle and wifi is an unbelievable 5 euros for 20 minutes, they charge a huge amount compared to local bars. The pool area is ok -a bit crammed in, friendly staff tho and a room service menu, albeit overpriced and they dont answer the phone if you want to order! If you want the room later than 12 its around 50 euros til […] 6pm or around 20 til 3pm. subject to change I reckon.
