I got a great deal at the Loews for the Thanksgiving holiday. I was really looking forward to the stay after reading about the hotel and the property looked beautiful for the pictures. I did eat at The Market Cafe and the food was delicious and reasonably prices in my opinion. My only disappointment was I had a pet-friendly room since I brought my dog and the carpet was stained and the bed linens appeared faded/ worn. I expected the Loews being a 4-star hotel to look a little fresher. I was happy overall with my stay and would stay there again in the future.

Something we did not know before we went was the hotel is "dog friendly". That meant that many of the guests had their dogs with them. While we did not, the hotel was very clean and well kept -- no dog smells etc. But it was actually kind of fun to have the dogs in our midst. I would say that it would be a good idea for the hotel to let guests know this in advance in case they are allergic or have a preference to stay in a place without animals.

The place was clean and the hotel people were very friendly and helpful Our room was over the marina and the view was great. You would expect annoying sounds from the nearby naval base, but that was not the case. Parking was easy and located close to the elevators to the rooms. Our balcony was secluded and all the others appeared to be as well. Room service was excellent, but was expensive, as expected. A coke is about $3 a can. Not a complaint, just an observation. I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to go to a place that appears to have it all.

The hotel was clean and the service staff were attentive to our needs. However, it seemed that everyone, except the front desk staff, expected a tip. Also, while the convenience of the hotel restaurant was nice, I called an order in and went to pick it up myself. I discovered they charged me an 18.5% charge and listed as a convenience fee, and then had the nerve to provide a space to add a tip. The beach access was nice as it is within walking distance and a paved path is provided. The hotel is 4 miles from town and any other restaurants or services. Overall, the stay was pleasant. This hotel is very kid friendly and pet friendly. Lots of amenities for kids, including a free toy at check in. Also, lots of people milling around with their dogs both in and out of the hotel. If you are not a dog lover or at least tolerant of dogs, this may not be your hotel.

However, the bartender (and other bar attendees) were incredibly friendly and solicitous. The bartender even made a birthday shot for my boyfriend. Overall, we were both very impressed with the friendliness of the hotel staff from the concierge (who searched high and low for an extra room service menu), to the gentleman who brought our room service and conversed with us about Kanye West's display at the VMA's.

This is a very nice place. This is the second year in a row that I've been to it and it was awesome both times. It's not in Coronado proper, it's off by itself, but to me this creates a feeling of luxury and serenity. It's only a few miles up to the other hotels and such, and it's easily done by car in 5 minutes or by bike in 1/2 hour. The views from here are great and the pools are really nice. I wouldn't pay their normal rate, but if you can get a good deal on hotels.com, it's definitely worth it.

The only minor discomfort was the rather warm hallways (we had to walk quite a bit to the dining area & front desk. The weekend brunch was fairly good/the French Toast off the reg. menu was not. The hotel restaurant charges an 18% service charge no matter the size of party/quality of service. Also, you may have to pay for parking--call the hotel to find out if there will be a charge--possibly $22/day. Overall, I would reccomend this resort hotel...enjoy the surrounding marina and nearby beach. D.Stone 9/12/2009

We highly recommend this Resort to everyone. The front desk is uber helpful, everything is kept clean and inviting AND the rooms exude comfort. You will not be dissapointed. We were lucky enough to stay in an ocean view, King Suite our first night and a garden/ocean view room our second night. We were impressed with both rooms. The modern-beachy decor instantly put us in vacation mode. There are tons of hangout/private spots around the premises. A big plus if you wanted to have a evening chill out by the water and drink a glass of wine. The hotel offers many activities for families and couples. Don't pass up this hotel. Any SEEMINGLY negative information in this review is strictly for information purposes only. My rate on this room was so good, it was practically free (I booked one night mid-week at the last minute, so I got REALLY lucky)and I have no right/need to have any issues whatsoever. The hotel is beautiful, my room was perfect and definitely that of a high end hotel. What anyone should know is that this hotel is a destination location and is probably a twenty plus minute drive from San Diego. However, the village between the hotel and SD is VERY charming and has much to offer. Also, there are PLENTY of activities at the resort. I checked the resort's website, so I knew about the $22 a night parking (even with the parking, my rate was still CHEAPER than a Motel6 -- so again, no complaints for me!). Also, the wifi is an extra charge (while many motels offer it free. Also, the signal is week). If you want to use the gym facilities, it's another $10. Not a problem, except that I thought it was $10 for the CLASSES and the exercise room was free. This place is perfect with GREAT views. Although, I didn't eat there, a friend who's from San Diego told me the restaurants are top knotch! I use Hotels.com about ten times a year...THIS WAS THE BEST RATE AND NICEST ROOM I'VE EVER GOTTEN!!
