I brought my boyfriend to this resort for his birthday. We got the king suite which was extremely lovely! The only problem I had with the hotel is that walking through the corridor you would never know how nice the rooms are inside. The hallway leading to the rooms was a tad bit dirty. I remember thinking "wow did I really pay all this money for a ran […] down hotel". But if that doesn't bother you one bit then you will definitely enjoy your stay. The customer service is awesome! Everyone talks to you and is very friendly. From the front desk to the bars. Overall I would definitely recommend this hotel if you are trying to have a small weekend getaway. "Nice hotel - great staff"
The hotel and staff were great. It was a little bit farther from San Diego than anticipated. Felt a little secluded and at times this is very desirable, gives you a chance to really relax. However, having easy access to other activities outside of the resort was missed. Good beach close by and views were outstanding. "Ideal resort for families"
This is a great hotel for families. There is a kids pool, main pool and adults only pool (so you don't have to worry about your kids splashing/annoying those without kids), a kids club and a teen lounge. Every restaurant (even the fine dining restaurant, Mistral) has a kids menu. The extensive and affordable breakfast buffet is great for picky eaters. […] The huge birdcage full of chickadees in the hall outside the lobby was a required stop every day on our way to breakfast. Bike rental and pool/beach toys were great assets. The dining passport (collect stamps from each the property restaurants to get a souvenir cup) and the resort "scavanger hunt" were big hits with my 7 year old. Only downside (for some, I liked it), may be location as there is really nothing within walking distance except the beach and the marina, so car rental or lots of cabs are in your future if you want to enjoy other San Diego attractions. The hotel does have an on-site Hertz rental so its easy if you only need a car for a couple of days. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Nice and secluded location"
Wonderful location in Coronado, away from the busy atmosphere of downtown San Diego, yet close enough to drive to. Service was impeccable and the room was perfect.Genuine Expedia guest review
I spent a week at the Loews Coronado Resort in March of 2014. The hotel is lovely and located on the Silver Strand area of Coronado Island. You can bicycle (rent bikes) or walk to the public beach (on the Pacific side) or their private beach (on the San Diego bay side). Also available are rental sailboats, paddle boards, and jet skis. The pools are […] very nice at the center of the complex. Lots of positives. The staff was excellent. "Nice but pricey. Lots of add - on charges"
Nice room, resort is lovely. Parking is NOT included and is $25/$30 per day, not revealed when reservations made. This, in addition to"resort fee" added an additional $55 per day to our room rate. Great hotel, enjoyed my stay. It fairly quiet, except for the kids running around the hotel. Restaurant in hotel is great and the bar area serves great drinks but they are a bit pricey. "Loews Hotel - Not Worth the Price"
We were disappointed with the value we received for the money spent. For being an upscale hotel, we felt that Loews was cheap. We needed to pay a daily "resort fee" that covered our in-room coffee and parking. This should be included in the price on a hotel of this caliber. The carpeting seemed dingy, and never felt that our room was very clean (bathroom […] especially). The rooms were very small as well. Two of the pools were under construction…wish we would have known prior to booking as we probably would have chosen another hotel. However, the service staff was excellent…very friendly and accommodating. Overall, I think they could do a much better job, and wouldn't recommend this hotel. They seemed to be MANY other places just as nice in the area. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Nice place but everything there cost money. Using the gym 10 bucks, playing tennis 5 bucks. For the price of the rooms that type stuff should be free.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great hotel but skip the expensive spa services."
we had a wonderful 4 days at this hotel. Note that it is a bit remote from town and there are not a lot of food choices at the hotel itself although they do have food available 24X7. But there is a free shuttle that goes back and forth into the town of Coronado that takes about 10 minutes each way. Everyone who works there is very helpful. The rooms […] are large (ask for one with the Japanese soaking tub) and very clean. The pool area is lovely and very comfortable. The only complaint I have is that the spa isn't really much of a spa. The services were average and very expensive. The less expensive (like yoga classes) or free spa amenities were much better. I would definitely stay there again. Nice hotel resort within walking distance to a quiet beach. Stayed just one night at the end of our Southern California vacation. "Read before booking..."
Hotel overall was very nice - you could tell they made some recent upgrades esp to the lobby. Beautiful location, however a good drive from San Diego (maybe 15 minutes). I think I might consider staying somewhere a little closer next time. The food in the breakfast restaurant was amazing! Huge portions, although a little pricy. The servers were great […] and super friendly. Our only dissapointment was that our room looked over the parking lot. You could see the bay but it was in the distance. We requested to change rooms as our first room was even worse and it was right near the dumpsters and again another parking lot. The staff said it was because we had the luxury room and not the upgraded. As an after thought for an extra $35/night we might have taken the upgrade just to have a better room. The rooms themselves were super clean and bathrooms were huge and awesome. The beds were a little soft for my liking, but the linens were very night and super clean too. Overall we had a good experience. Our only small dissapointment was that we thought it would "feel" more resort-ish from our room and the view was good but not great. Great hotel. Nice clean looks brand new. Everyone is extremely nice and helpful, especially Gordie, he was very helpful with everything.Genuine Expedia guest review
overall was great, but was annoying for the nitpicking of pricing they tacked on... $ to parking/day, $ gym fee (which was subpar at best). we rented bikes for the day, however the quality of the bikes were mediocre. I never leave reviews but I had to for this hotel. We only had one night but it was beautiful and they accommodated every request. Beds and furniture in suites uncomfortable, stacks in the room were stale. Thought the hotel and rooms were going to be upscale but rooms and exterior felt outdated and tired. Lobby bar area was nice, service was way below what I expected. There was only one person at the front desk for check in and overall attitude was so so.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Peaceful hotel with incredibly friendly staff"
Overall, I had a great stay, even though it was brief. The facilities were great, clean, and open, and the room was spacious. The gym could stand to be updated but was otherwise good for a workout and the breakfast buffet seemed overpriced at $27, but a la carte breakfast menu items were more reasonable at ~$10. Drip Coffee at breakfast also seemed […] overpriced at $4 per person, but since it was a bottomless cup it wasn't a big deal. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"January at Lowes Coronado"
Beautiful resort. Staff go above and beyond to learn your name and help in any way possible. The only drawbacks are that it is not directly on the beach (on the bay instead) and getting to San Diego is very expensive if you are wanting to see attractions, etc. you have to rent a car or use cabs (expensive!)Genuine Expedia guest review
"My birthday trip"
My honey and I were scheduled to visit the Lowes Hotel in Coronada from January 2-January6. Unfortunately, we checked out prior to the ending of our reservation due to false advertisement. On the 2nd while driving to the hotel we noticed that this area was somewhat secluded. This hotel is past the military base and advertises a beach when in fact there […] is no beach but a swamp. The hotel is actually a resort and seems to be catered to an older crowd. We are 35-40 and it seemed to be more for the more mature individual. Please dont be fooled by the beautiful pictures on the site. Although the hotel looks nice it is definitely not that nice. On our first night the lights went out in the hotel, we called downstairs and the front desk said we will call you when they come back on. My honey asked them to have the manager call the next morning and no call. On the next day we got back to the room later and they hadn't bothered to come in to clean the room at all, when asked why they rushed into the room to try and clean it. At that time we were exhausted so we didn't want them in the room and shewed them away. This is definitely not indicative of what a Lowes property is as far as my past experiences. You definitely need a car if you stay here. There is NOTHING In walking distance to the hotel, you are 10 minutes from Tiajuanna Mexico. Very expensive stay we paid $70 for a flatbread personal pizza and 10 wings. Stay someplace else!!! Even when we complained the manager didn't care.. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

The experience was fantastic. I went over the New Year's Eve holiday and even though I was not in a partying mood they made the night pleasant and fun. The only surprise was when I checked out. When I asked what the charge was for the gentleman explained that it was to cover items […] like coffee in the room, intenet, parking, etc. Mind you I did not drink the coffee in my room, did not have intenet in my room (it was offered at an additional daily charge) and I did not have a car. Who charges for wifi now a days? The luxury Loews resort and spa does. In addition this place also charges for parking ($25) per day, $8 per water bottle and $10 snacks that are place in your room. It's an isolated hotel and they charge 25.00 to self park-I guess they need to pay staff to man the gate. But really, you don't need anyone to man the hotel entrance. At night, the hotel is very quiet except I there was a barking dog that would not stop barking.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Enjoyed Our Stay"
Enjoyed the experience and the staff here at the Lowes. Room was nice with partial bay view, colors and décor are nice in the rooms. Very comfortable and enjoyed the private tunnel to the beach. Nice to know Lowe's is dog friendly although we did not bring ours. Food is good here although the full menu was not available the night we ate at the Mistro. […] Breakfast was excellent (we ordered off the menu) and the buffet looked good, too, but a little pricey for breakfast. Parking was convenient as you park under your room's building (and you pay for that daily). Internet is free in the lobby area but not in the rooms so you have to pay extra for that : ( Lots to go look at and it's easy to get to anywhere in Coronado and go over the bridge to visit the Gas Lamp District within a short amount of time. 1 maid service complaint is that we had a towel that was stained so it was set aside and we used a different one.
