Pomme d'Or Hotel - Jersey

This is a very comfortable hotel in a great location, ideally situated for tourist or businessperson. I particularly liked the Cafe/Bar just off the lobby, which provided a good place to relax and eat without having to leave the hotel.

The title of this review says it all. This is a top class establishment in a great location but the standard rooms are at the back of the building, in an area that is quite dark and in need of a bit of an update. I am sure these rooms would be very comfortable but they are quite small and, as I said, a little dark so the few pounds extra is worth paying […] to upgrade to a premium room with harbour view. Our third stay at the Hotel. Staff remembered us and made a point of welcoming us back. As usual it was of a very high standard with exemplary customer service standards. Short but comfortable stay, welcome at reception very friendly and helpful. Important little touches such as non-slip mat for the over-bath shower, mending kit etc. Slept well, excellent breakfast. On the sea-front and close to town centre, so, good for business and vacation.

Just returned from a long week-end on Jersey, staying at the Pomme d'Or to celebrate my wife's birthday. Located in Liberation Square,our room on the 5th floor overlooked the marina. Check in was smoothly completed on arrival. We said that we were not eating at the hotel that night but had seen somewhere we liked on the internet but couldn't contact […] them from the UK before our departure. The friendly and efficient staff booked our evening meal at the Aromas restaurant which is a 10 minute walk away, (brilliant meal ! ) While we were unpacking our suitcases, there was a knock on the door, a waiter had brought a small (but delicious) birthday cake for my wife. These small touches made our decision to choose the Pomme d'Or well worth it. The room was more like a junior suite, spotlessly clean and with almost no noise from the street below. Breakfast is taken buffet style in the Harbour room, plenty of fresh fruit, cereals etc and piping hot breakfast choices. We ate in the hotel on our second night, the "Gills & Grill" buffet, once again the high standards were to the fore. My husband and I stayed 2 nights in this hotel during summer bank holiday. This hotel was chosen because of the good reviews in hotels.com. We were full of expectations before the trip. The hotel does not have a car park for our hired car. When asked for advice, the receponist couldn't even give a clear description of the parking situations nearby. […] When we got checked in to our rooms. I was SURPRISED by the TINY size of the room. We booked an executive double room, which is meant to be bigger than a standard room. Looking at the size of the room, I can't imagine what a standard room would like like. The room looks very old to me. The shower curtain of the bathroom did not look clean. They don't even supply hair conditioners, and I had to go to the local boots shop to get one. The only good thing I can think of is the location is central and convenient. But if we were ever going to visit Jersey again, I will definitely stay at somewhere else. Read more

Fabulous location, near to bus terminal, didn't need to hire a car. We hadf Standard rooms, but they were spacious, brilliant. Thw staff were so frinedly and helpful. Needed a wheelchair, this was taken care of immediately. Food was excellent, certainly value for money. We will be back.

Great friendly staff. Helped us out with a last minute booking and arranged for an early breakfast in our room so we could catch an early ferry. Parking wasn't particularly close, but not the hotel's fault. Free fast internet. Really nice hotel.

A lovely hotel in a central location facing Liberation Square and the Marina. We had a Premier Room which overlooked the Square and Marina which had triple glazed windows so we experienced no noise, but to be fair, not much traffic around at night. We avoided booking a standard room due to the comments of other travellers. All areas in the hotel were […] spotless, we could not find fault with anything. The reception staff were helpful and the restaurant / hotel cafe staff most attentive. The food was good in both the cafe and the Harbour Restaurant. The bus station is a five minute walk from the hotel; more user friendly than hiring a car and the different routes go to all the visitor attractions on the Island. We took the bus from the airport to the hotel at a cost of £1.70 each. The promenade and the harbour for cross channel crossings not far away if a trip to another island is planned. We would have no hesitation in booking this hotel on a future visit to Jersey. Read more

The 4 star for the cleaniliness of the room is due to the fact that once during our 5 day stay we put the bathrobes into the tub to be changed as we found it had dirt stains on arrival, but on return to our rooms we found the same bnathrobes had been hung back on the door intead of changing what was put in the bath tub as was printed notice in the bathroom. ofcourse when we called reception we immediately received a new pair of bathrobes and towels. Otherwise the housekeeping staff was perfect , they cleaned the room and made sure everything that was used was replenished and cleaned. Would surely stay again if we are staying in St heliers and would definitely recommend it for anyone on short stays in Jersey as it is very convenient for the port and central bus station. Read more

Lovely entrance way, and a nice room. It's good to see a proper Samsung TV in a room should you need to stay in. Unfortunately I had a view over the courtyard and I was above the air conditioning units so it wasn't ideal. There was good water pressure from the shower, whcih is always nice. The Pomme D'Or ticks a lot of boxes for a short stay in Jersey. It's location is second to none if you want access to the main town of St Helier however the hotel has no on site parking which can be a bit of a problem if you want to explore the island. Breakfast is well worth paying for, a broad selection and the cooked breakfast is made fresh, hot […] and with good quality ingredients, all served overlooking the harbor. The hotel can certainly feel a bit old fashioned and quiet at times but this suited us on this occasion. Would be intrigued to try the Royal Yatch next door which looked more modern and appeared to have a buzzy bar and restaurant on the ground floor. Nevertheless, modern, clean and comfortable rooms make for a perfectly located bolt hole on the island. Read more

Stayed for 4 nights in an executive double room, Monday to Friday, at the beginning of July 2011. The Pomme d'Or is centrally located in St. Helier within 5minutes walk of the main shopping street, the bus station, the tourist office and the maritime museum. If you stay here, you do not need a car at all. There's a taxi rank outside, but best of all […] use the buses, which all seem to start at the modern bus station across the road. The room looked out over the rear of the hotel, not a pretty view, but it was quiet and had everything we needed. One night the air conditioner in the room broke down and the staff straightaway offered us another room for the night. In the end, we took their offer of an electric fan! The problem was fixed next morning. We ate 3 or 4 meals in the downstairs cafe (overlooking Liberation Square) and thought the food was fine. Breakfast (included in the rate) was help yourself with a good choice of fruit, cereal and cooked items, which were all well presented. Overall, I would rate this a good 4 star hotel with friendly and helpful staff. I had some business in the financial district which is also close by and for me this was the best place to stay in St Helier. I would definitely go back. Read more

The hotel looks very grand and is in a superb location for St Hellier town centre. I would imagine parking to be a bit of a problem but as we didnt have a car it wasnt an issue for us. On entering the well decorated lobby we were greeted by lovely reception staff who were very knowledgeable- we booked this hotel without any prior information about it- […] we just liked the location and reviews appeared to be good. the reception and bar areas look very modern but with some traditional elements too.......turn the corner and things start to appear a little dated once in the corridor to the rooms, it was starting to lose its appeal. gone are the modern decor and replaced with 80s light fittings and drab wall and floor coverings. The room was pleasant if a little dated and the furniture reminded me of Holiday inn circa 1980's! The problems happened through the night, we were located at the back of the hotel on the 1st floor. there was no noise from the outside but whatever was upstairs woke me up soo many times through the night. There are few holidays which begin within 15 mins of touching down. The bags are ready to collect before you have time to turn round. An excellent hotel! We've been to Jersey three times and every time we've stayed in the Pomme d'Or. The staff have always been helpful whenever we have needed something. The buffet breakfast can really set you up for the day and the hotel's location (a two minute walk from the main bus station) makes it an excellent base to explore from.
