"Great Find"Reviewed by Peter of "Charlottesville, VA." on Feb 16, 2012
This is a great find. Rooms are "city" size a bit small BUT everything you need including a HD flat screen is in the room. The breakfast and coffee are perfect. Priced well and overall a perfect place to stay.

"Business trip: bedbugs, but good customer service"
Trip was for a week in NYC for business. The room was comfortable BUT the first night I was attacked by bedbugs (!!!!) I brought the offender down to the front desk and they immediately relocated me. The hotel GM was very accommodating, had fumigators treat the hotel, and also paid for all of my clothes & luggage to be professionally steam-cleaned! I […] would actually return, as the staff did everything in their power to make things right. Kudos to the GM and his team for this great customer care! Thank you! Read more
"New Yorker Hotel our favorite place to stay in NYC"
Whenever my wife and I go to New York we always stay at the New Yorker. It is so close to Penn Station that we can walk to it. There are many subway lines in the area. It's one stop from Times Square. The staff is always friendly, the architecture is beautiful, and the Tick Tock Diner is a great place to grab a bite to eat.
"Affordable and Conveinent"
I chose the New Yorker because it was right next to the office I was visiting.. The rooms are a bit on the small side but acceptable-- I didn't go to NY to stay in the hotel room. The bed and ammenties are high quality and so I had a comfortable night's sleep. The neighborhood is busy especially during rush hours but I expected that for being right […] next to Penn Station, Madison Square Garden and the Macy's shopping district. Overall it was good value. "barking dogs"
They allowed dogs into the hotel without us knowing about it, there was a dog show. The room across from us had two small dogs barking whenever they heard a noise and I had to stuff a sweat shirt in my door since it was not lined up and you could see through it

"New Yorker Hotel - Very Good"
We were impressed by our accommodations at the New Yorker Hotel. The only negative was the general demeanor of the check-in staff - NOT particularly friendly. All others though, were wonderful. The concierge and Cooper's Tavern staff went out of their way to make sure that we had an excellent stay. The rooms, while not large, were clean and well kept. […] Would definitely recommend to our friends. Read more
Did not like the fact that they charge for holding luggage. We had to pay a fee to check them and another fee when we got them back. Room was extremely small. Shower water kept going from hot to cold.
"The New Yorker Hotel"
It is a nice place to stay, close to almost everything you need to do / see in New York. Price is good, service is great - especially the front desk people!!
"good hotel for the money"
Hotel offered good value for the money. Staff is courteous and helpful.

"Location"
The location was amazing, but even by NYC standards this is no four star hotel. I stayed in a three star hotel for the other two nights of my trip that was palatial in camparison and much cleaner. The location was great, but you shouldn't expect four stars. This is an adequate three star room in a great location.
"Good hotel"
I've stayed at the New Yorker a couple of times now and have found it to be perfectly serviceable. It's not luxury decor, but the rooms are quiet, clean and comfortable. The staff was particularly friendly and helpful on this visit.

"Great experience at the New Yorker Hotel"
My wife and I had a wonderful time at this hotel. The day before our stay, I called asking if they had any specials going on for couples celebrating their 20th anniversary and I was told they did not. However, Ruth at the front desk mentioned that what she could do was to give us an upgrade. And she did. She ended up giving us a room with the most incredible […] view of New York City. At our check in, they noticed on our account that we were celebrating our 20 anniversary and all the people at the front desk stop doing what they were doing to wish us many more years together. One of the ladies that was there then went to the back and got a small box of chocolates for us. These small touches made our stay special. I will definitely stay here again and I will highly recommend it to anyone. Read more
"Convenient to Train & Javits Center"
One & half street from Pen station. Personnel more concerned with justifying hotel policy than giving service.
"The New Yorker on 34th&8"
I love everything about this hotel from the staff to the decor. I stay there several times a year and I've always enjoyed my stay!
Smallest , dirtiest room ...paint peeling off walls foul smell
"Good location, older hotel."
This hotel in in a good location, but it does shot it's age at time. The workout facilitates were adequate (try running the stairs rather than taking the 40 floors of elevators to get some extra burn in). Bathroom was larger than expected for a NYC hotel and had a full tub with consistent hot water (very nice). Overall I'd consider visiting it agai […] n. Read more
"Hotel New Yorker Weekend 01/30/12"
Hotel rooms are small. The bathrooms are even smaller. However, the location and adjoining restaurants more than make up for it. Great staff.
"The New Yorker Hotel"
very nice hotel, expensive kinda small but the location was perfect. I would stay there again.
"Great Location"
Cute , Clean , and Comfy. Nice location lots of things within walking distance. Will definitely revisit.
I usually don't do reviews but I have to say this trip to NY was a business trip & everything worked. The new yorker is a great older hotel. Renovated rooms that are clean & comfortable. Good showers! I frequent the New Yorker because it's a good value, great location, train, bus & subway are around the corner. I can walk to the Javits The staff could […] not be nicer, from check-in, room service, getting a taxi, storing your luggage for the day & recommending a few tourist spots. Give it a try. Read more
"Great place"
It was perfectly located. The staff was great. Very clean. Nicely remodeled. For a four star hotel the price was right and I would highly recommend the New Yorker to anyone visiting Manhattan.
"Very convenient and comfortable"
Stayed here while in town for a convention, and was very pleased. My room was comfortable, clean and quiet. It's super convenient as it is directly across the street from Penn Station and a short walk to Times Sq, the convention center, shopping and restaurants. At the end of my trip I was able to leave my luggage at the hotel (for $1) and explore the […] city, then pick my bags up and walk across the street to catch my train home. My only complaint is that the free wifi (there is a paid version as well) is VERY slow, but I imagine if you pay the $9.95/day for the better service it is fine. Will stay here again if the price is right. Read more
"NYC Hotel-Clean but bad location if valet needed"
My husband and I booked a night at this hotel, as it appeared to be located in good proximity to subway/shopping/walking distance to Times Square. We SERIOUSLY almost could not get to the hotel. Sure you expect to deal with one way streets in the city, but this is located in such a difficult area that we could not get our car on the correct side of […] the road to obtain valet parking for the hotel, and had to drive around for an hour. The transportation desk at the hotel was no help with instruction, might as well not have called them. Finally we got to a spot in front of the hotel, but just around the corner from where the valet would stand, and they refused to take our car to the parking garage because it wasn't in the exact spot they preferred it to be. Talk about frustrating! Oh, and no ventilation in bathrooms, so the condensation from the shower dripped like rain from the ceiling, which had bubbled paint from obviously having this happen for a while, when we were done showering. Yuck! Who else's germs were dripping on us? Read more
"Hotel New Yorker"
The New yorker is poorly maintained. During the first day of my stay there was a fire at the diner below and a burning smell lingered in the Hotel for three days after. There were also frequent drunken tourist wandering around the hallways late at night making quite a disturbance.

"very disappointing if you wanted decent rest"
All I will say is this: My mom and are not big nor are we heavy individuals, but I swear the center of each bed sunk at least a few inches into the frame. Very poor quality beds, we did not fall asleep easily, then woke up with stiff necks and backs. The room was small but clean, no extras included. Not a coffee pot, tea etc., but we could deal with […] it if it wasnt for the bedding. Read more
"Hotel New Yorker - convenient to Madison Square Ga"
Since I was officiating the USATF Open Meet at Madison Square Garden, this hotel was my first choice as it has been for the past several years when I officiated the Millrose Games at the same time of the year.
"Beware - This hotel has bedbugs"
Title says it all
"The New Yorker Hotel"
Overall good service and excellent location. Hotel front desk were a bit rude during check-in though.
"Great Value"
The rooms are very small, but clean and comfortable. Everyone was very friendly.
"New Yorker Htl - location for tourists etc"
terrific location, easy to get to anywhere in Manhattan. Local bus stop right outside, subway 1 block away.

"A great, low-priced option"
Unimpressive lobby but very clean and comfortable room literally steps from the A, C and E subway lines and Penn station. Couldn't be more convenient.
"Charming"
I had an older room and loved it! Very small (I was warned) but so sweet, and the location was great.
"Close to Penn station"
Excellent location.. Close to Penn Station, 42nd street and Times Square.. My upgraded room was really nice.. Will definitely go back..
"The New Yorker"
The woman who checked us in had a lot of difficulty finding our reservation (thank goodness I brought the confirmation). She was a frowner. Not a good way to start off - got lots better after we finished with her. The staff who checked us out were far more friendly. She needs an attitude adjustment.
"Awesome hotel - A+"
Not 1 complaint about the New Yorker. Everything was absolutely wonderful. Excellent location by MSG & Penn Station. Walking distance to all of Manhattan. Went to Times Sq, a Broadway show & a concert @ Lincoln Center on day 1. On day 2 walked to Chelsea, The Village, Chinatown & Little Italy. The staff was wonderful. My train got in early & they were […] able to accomodate us. The room is very cozy with nice amenities. Good products in the bath. Soft towels. Ironing board, iron, hair dryer. Flat screen TV. Have stayed here before & would definitely stay again. It's my fav hotel in NY. Would stay here everytime except some times I get better deals elsewhere. Read more
"The New Yorker Hotel-the perfect place to stay!"
If you are in NYC for shopping and sightseeing, this is the perfect hotel and location.
"The NEW YORKER - Great Location! Had lots of fun!"
My husband and I had a great time in New York. When we first got there, we were assigned to a small room. I made them aware that it was my husband's birthday and that the pictures displayed a larger room, the manager gladly changed it. We were able to walk to Times Square and Madison Square Garden. Canal Street shopping was only a few stops away on […] the train. There was a diner downstairs that had good food. And it was open 24/7. The staff was friendly. They kindly accommodated my request for one hour late check out. We also were allowed to leave our bags downstairs until our transportation arrived at 7pm to go to back to DC. Great Trip overall!!! "The perfect location!"
the hotel has so much character! The lobby with its Art Deco style takes me back in time. It is the best hotel if attending events at the Garden! If you are lucky you might get a room with the view of the Empire State Building. What a view!

"The New Yorker Hotel"
Great location...right near the train. Loved the attatched restaurant. Dinner was great. Room was clean and bedding was very comfortable. The best part was the attatched 24/7 diner that came in handy after a night at the bars. Will definitely come here again, worth the price.
"Great location, cramped space"
Although the hotel was in a great location and everything was very clean, the room was tiny. Barely enough room to put 2 full size bags, and still be able to walk around the bed. You are required to show your room key before you can access the area with the elevators to even go up to your room. We had a recently renovated room, and as I said it was […] clean, I wasn't overly impressed. The temperature of the water changed from freezing cold to burning hot every minute or so- when I reported it to the front desk I was told, "That's just how the showers are." So, if you plan on bathing while staying here, make it quick! The Tick Tock diner attached to the hotel had mediocre food, and less than great service. The only reason I would recommend this hotel to others is because of the phenomenal location. Read more
"The New Yorker is a great location"
My son and I went to watch Duke v. Washington at the Garden. The New Yorker was right across the street from the Garden. It was also located very close to many Historic NY landmarks. It was simply a great location and a great Hotel.

Ideal location--walking distance to everything we wanted to see. Room was small but clean. Since we were just sleeping there, it didn't matter. Would recommend to others who are looking for nothing real fancy or spacious.
