"theaters,restaurants and Penn Station"
It was very convenient and comfortableGenuine Hotels.com guest review
loved my stay, was also a perfect location....i think it would be better with a little refrigerator or a microwave.....but asides from those...i thought i was nice.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Front desk was fabulous and helped me find a room that wasn't a postage stamp. Just book a double to begin with, the singles were ridiculous. There are lots of nice employees standing around but no real service. There is no room service and bell hops especially weak. I waited 45 minutes and called several times to get help down with my luggage and finally […] got it down to the lobby myself . I nearly missed my plane by the time I got a car to take me to the airport. I called the bell hop and front desk repeatedly and no one came even though they promised someone would be right up. When I got to the lobby they were all standing around. The TIc Toc Diner serves 24 hours and the service was abysmal and the food very mediocre. Their nicer restaurant was much better in food and service. The room was fine, you have to run the shower about 10 minutes to get hot water but it is there if you wait long enough. Bathrooms are original and very tiny but serviceable. Bed was comfortable and room overall was comfortable but dimly lit. Elevators very quick and plentiful but seemed to break down quite a bit. This hotel is just 2-3 blocks from the Garden and Macy's and in a decent neighborhood. This is a very old hotel but seems to have been kept up pretty well. I think this is mostly a tourist class hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Great location and neighborhood. Rude staff while checking in, had to call a few times to get extra pillows and blankets, and found hair on our towels.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Near Garment District"
I stayed at the New Yorker for it's proximity to where I was working in the Garment District. I was hoping the other reviews on line were accurate and they were. The room was small but very clean. The bathroom was original and a bit tired but again very clean. I had the added treat of staying during the Westminster Dog Show so the lobby was filled with […] fancy dogs of every kind which was a show in of itself......I will definitely return when work takes me back to the city. "Great location and wonderful staff"
The staff were extremely helpful. We stayed in the middle of a huge snowstorm in February 2014. They let us park and store our bags early in the morning before check in. And when we returned to the hotel cold and soaked, they let us check in early even though we hadn't requested it ahead of time. The woman who gives directions and tickets to attractions […] was very nice and friendly. The view was clean and comfortable, and the view was amazing. We stayed in a tower suite and the Manhattan skyline was visible from both windows. My only complaint, and it's a small one, is that the shower head wouldn't adjust, and the pressure was lacking. But overall it was great stay, and we will definitely book with them again when we return to the city. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"where is the coffee"
the room was everything i needed but no coffee machine or water bottle was a bit of a disappointment since there were no vending machine on my floor and didn't want to take the elevator in my pjs...Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to MSG"
Our bathroom had a draft and was like a fridge. Not a good thing in the winter. The rest of the hotel and staff were pretty decent. The Tick Tock Diner attached to the hotel has decent food at a decent price.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not what I expected"
I realize that the picture shown on Hotels.com is a representation - but I paid for a premium room with a sofa and a view. What I received was a standard room with scaffolding blocking the view and was told by the clerk that ‘that is all that was available’. The room was so small that the bathroom door did not completely open, it was blocked by one […] of the 2 chairs in the room. The only good thing I can say about this hotel is that it was within walking distance of the casting company that we were in NY to visit. If you are just looking for a place to lay your head, this would be the place. If you are looking for luxury, or a place to relax - don’t do it; pay a little more and get a 5 star hotel, you will probably have a better experience. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Great price for NYC, as long as you don't spend anytime in your room, walked it off 9 x 11 REALLYGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Perfect for a 48hour Ny visit"
I was in town for a trade show. Clean, trendy, and comfy rooms. Great location and fantastic price. Helpful and efficient check in and out. Fabulous price. Dinner at the tavern in house was lovely…good value and declicous mealGenuine Hotels.com guest review
I had a great stay here with my girlfriend the night of a concert we attended at MSG. Angel at the front desk was AMAZING! Customer service at it's finest! The hotel was clean and the room we stayed in on the 33rd floor was great! It was actually large compared to other NY hotels. We couldn't hear any street noise. The only negative thing I would say […] is the cost of parking when staying at the hotel. I wish they would have subsidized the cost considering the cost of the room. Other than that I would HIGHLY recommend! Everyone was very friendly! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Close to Penn Station"
Very nice hotel. Room little small but that was ok as I was traveling alone. Wonderful view of the Empire State Building from the 26th floor.Feet away to Penn Station/Madison Square Garden which is extremely convenient when you have an early train.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"My "Go To" Hotel in NY"
I always stay at the New Yorker Hotel. The location is great, service is always good, the TicToc diner downstairs is a Must, and while this might sound odd, I love that the hotel has great water pressure in the shower. The rooms are clean and comfortable, but on the small side if you go with a standard room, but it is NYC, so not surprising. Suites […] are nice and I would choose that option if available when I book. Very reasonable rates for all that this hotel offers. Will continue to stay at the New Yorker when I visit. "Ok hotel in good location"
This hotel is fine and has a nice lobby and restaurants. I was just disappointed in how old the hallways are. The room was fairly nice with comfortable beds but the bathroom was very dated. I also think that since there is no room service, that adding coffee pots in the room would be a smart idea. There was also construction that started at 8:30 am […] which is fine if we would have been informed of it. This is a great location right by MSG and not far from Port Authority. Despite its minor flaws, I would stay here again due to its location. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"All around great experience."
Great service. I will come back here any time.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to The Garden, shops and dining"
Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I was very thankful to check in early because I was sick and I didn't want to be out in the cold any longer than I needed to be. The room was very small but clean, adequate and good value for the price we paid. The bed was kinda hard but we enjoyed our stay. We also liked the tavern restaurant and diner that […] were adjoined so we didn't have to keep going out into the cold to eat. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to perfection...."
Only two things... the room is small for 2 people, but there just seems to be something "authentic" New York about that experience. The other is that they painted the tile in the bathroom and it is starting to peel. Again, there is just something "Big City/Big Apple" about that. So, we forgive both and we give the hotel FIVE STARS.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We had a great view of the Empire State building, and the location couldn't have been better. Utilities were a bit old fashioned, but we found them to be charming rather than in need of replacement.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I have stayed here several times and have never been disappointed. The location is great if you are coming into Penn Station. It's not as crowded as Times Square, but still very convenient for those hitting up shows in the Theatre District. Love the 24-hour attached to the hotel, the free WiFi we had, and the free gym with tons of equipment. Good value […] and size for NYC hotels! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Hotel great, attached 24hr cafeteria awful...walked in at 5:30am for BF, several 'staff' standing around; after 5 minutes of waiting for someone to approach, gave up and left...advertising '24-hour svc' is FALSE.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great stay, no complications, great location"
Overall great experience. Nothing stood out as an issue. The room was small, so not very good if you're planning on spending much time in the room or if you're traveling with a child. It was just me in the room so room size wasn't a big deal.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Over Night Stay In The City"
Watch out for the varying temperature of the shower! Lovely old hotel, rooms are small, but about right for this era. Bathroom was very clean. The bed's mattress was not impressive, slept so-so. Staff was courteous and welcoming, wanted to drop off my bags early at noon and the front desk simply booked me into my room!!! That was nice! "Great hotel, terrific location"
We absolutely love this place-mainly for the excellent location, which is two blocks from Macy's and very easy subway transportation to anything in the city and a quick walk to Times Square and theaters. I am a transplanted Manhattanite (miss it every day) and now return frequently to visit a daughter in college in the city. This hotel is so convenient, […] safe and comfortable for me. It is not terribly fancy, just good, kind of old-fashioned and solid. I always get a suite and while it is typically small, it works for me. The lobby diner is fun, fast and ok. The hotel treated us to breakfast coupons and we really appreciated it. Highly recommend for families or women - very helpful and nice staff too. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
As always, it is a great place to stay. It is convenient to so many places.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I have stayed at this hotel many times due to its location. My only gripe about this stay was my room was too small. I mean - small small.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good, except no room service."
Nice hotel. The workout room is better than other hotels I have stayed in. I would have given it 4 stars but they didn't offer room service even though there are 2 restaurants downstairs and the water wasn't hot enough on the last morning I was there. My husband and I both had to take cold showers that morning.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Fine Hotel, a bit older and bad shower"
The hotel was reasonable for the price, the rooms are small but for $250 in Manhattan, it was fine. Location was close to Javitiz Center and to Times Squate. Only major complaint (and I won't stay at the hotel again because of this) is that the shower was awful. The window (which is partially in the shower) doesn't close all the way and it was freezing. […] Water went from boiling to freezing in 3-5 second intervals (for the entire stay, 3 days). Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Convenient to Trains ... Fix Water Temp"
I have stayed at The New Yorker a handful of times. I like the convenience to Penn Station and subways. Lobby is beautiful. The water temp is an issue. Temp flutuates wildly between hot and cold. Guest service is hit or miss. Size of the rooms are somewhat small even by NY standards. The hotel room price seems to be rising. Overall I stay for the convenience […] to Penn Station but may start to look for alternatives if price continues to rise. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

It was fine for the one night I needed to stay over, I wasn't spending that much time at the hotel. I thought the staff was very pleasant! Problems with the hot water in the shower, but eventually it warmed upGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Cool 1920s hotel that has been recently renovated. All of the hotel staff friendly and helpful. Great views from the upper story windows. Comfortable room. Handy on-site 24hour diner. Just across the street from Madison Square Garden and Penn StationGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Clean but very small !!"
The rooms were clean but very small ! Need comforters with duvet covers on beds so they can be washed - our bed had a wool blanket which I am sure is not washed - didn't use it so it was cold in our room .Genuine Expedia guest review
"rooms are size of a postage stamp"
The New Yroker hotel has a friendly staff, clean facility and great location. We stayed in a queen room which was tiny. I have never stayed in a room that small before. But the bed was comfy and the room was clean which was the most important thing.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Perfect for Madison Square Garden"
We had a wonderful stay. We were spontaneously upgraded to a suite, which our 6-year-old son loved (he could get up early and watch cartoons in the living room while my husband and I slept in)!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great for Weekend Trip"
My Fiance and I stayed here for three nights, and were able to see all the sights- just walking distance from the empire state building and right on a major subway station. So conveinent when going to and fromt the airport!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Good Quality NYC hotel"
We moved hotels during the middle of our 10 day NYC trip. We came from the Helmsley Park Lane to The New Yorker which was kind of a shocker at first. The rooms at the New Yorker were very small but very clean. The location is great (right next to the Penn Station Subway). It was very easy to move about the city from this hotel. My only complaint would […] be how slow the front desk was to check in guests. It was absolutely excruciating to wait in line for that line, but that was only a very small portion of the hotel stay. I would recommend this hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel was perfect for where we were doing business at Pearl Studios. Most of the staff was polite. I ran into a couple as though I was a bother. Housekeeping was great! Our room was very small. I guess it was the rate I paid. It would be interesting to see a more expensive room. Hate that you can't use a bathroom in the lobby without your key. An […] employee directed me to the Tick Tock Diner to relieve myself and it was dirty and the lock was broken. Never again! Next trip, I'm 75% sure I'll stay again. "I wouldnt Call this a 4 Star hotel"
unless you were in 1950.. This is a an "overrated " rating... and the photos are somewhat exaggerated. I was completely disappointed when I arrived and was expecting to get this over the top place....basically.. it's just old... It great if you are interested in seeing how "new yorkers" used to live back then and see the decor.. and get that experience […] .. the bathroom had painted tile, and some of the wall paint was peeling? Not what you would be seeing in a 4 Star rated hotel. Definitely not!! The only thing that was was 4-Star was the Door man valet parked my car... In the morning there was a horrendous sound that started at about 8am above my room that was more like a band rehearsing or furniture being moved. So no.. I will not recomend.
