"Times Square Nugget"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 6, 2012
We really enjoyed our stay. We stayed for a week and were glad to find a hotel right in the heart of Times Square. The service was definitely top notch! The front desk was courteous and the concierge was very helpful, recommending great shows and restaurants. Our room was nice. It could've been a little larger. But the bathroom was a good size and the size of the TV's and the fact that they played HD was a bonus. Also, the bed was quite comfortable. The cleaning staff did a fine job of keeping up the room. I'll definitely recommend this hotel to others.
"Consistency. You can depend on it."Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
Finding a "GOOD THING" these days can get harder and harder. For this reason when you come across a 'good thing" it is priceless. One of the most recent "good things " that I have come across is the PARAMOUNT hotel in Times Square. The first thing that I leave the hotel impressed by is the professionalism and commitment that is demonstrated by the staff. Starting with the front desk where I was checked in by Catherine and continuing until the driver which I received at the hotel hands me my luggage at the airport. Catherine followed the details of my visit until the moment I checked out. The only dislike that I had which eventually i got over was the view of the alley where the boiler or some loud machine was placed. I know that from now on I will request a room that faces anywhere but there. If you are going to New York and plan on taking in Broadway there could not be a more perfect location. I love this hotel so much I find myself wanting to travel to NYC more. I cannot wait until my next visit to the PARAMOUNT which I hope will be in the next few weeks.
"Affordable Quickie in NY"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
We had a very good time and the hotel was close to work.

Very nice hotel, within walking distance to subway for access to Manhattan (take the 7 or E and you can get to grand central, times square, penn station). Just a few blocks to local restaraunts. The room was very clean, excellent staff, free shuttle to subway. Overall an excellent place to stay if your touring new york city. One note, if you are considering a "view room" save your money, the view is obstructed by a number of taller buildings (the hotel is only 7 floors). Overall an excellent experience and I would definitely stay again, especially at the rate because of the new hotel discount. If you plan to take a cab from the hotel call one yourself because the service the hotel uses charges a flat rate to specific areas and you can get a cab on your own for cheaper generally.

"Awesome Views, was given incorrect room"
Stayed in NYC on 3/12/12, I chose the New Yorker due to its proximity to the Empire State Building. The room and bedding were very clean. The Bath room did have older furnishings. The interesting thing is that i reserved a room with a queen bed and received a room with two doubles..Went to the main desk and they suggested keeping the doubles cause the […] room is bigger.. That is the only issue i have with the whole stay. Read more
"LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION"
The New Yorker is a comfortable hotel in the style of the 1920s. The rooms I have had are modest in size, but fully equipped and perfectly clean and comfortable. The prices are reasonable for what you get. But the best fact about the New Yorker is its location. It is in midtown Manhattan, a couple of blocks west of Broadway. It is just across the street […] from Penn Station and a major subway stop. It is a short walk from Times Square and the theater district. There are decent places to eat and imbibe nearby. And, by the way, the staff very helpful and friendly. Read more
Nice hotel, staff was friendly. We had a one night stay and everything was great.
"the new yorker"
the hotel was in a great central locale. the only drawback for us was no room service or refridge in room. the diner was fair downstairs.
"Great when the price is right"
I like this hotel but have only stayed there when the price is not several hundered dollars. the rooms are clean but small. The cleaning staff does take your towels even if you don't want them too. And the people at the front desk/bell hops seem to be a little put off. I would not be happy if I was not getting good rates. I've found it quite despite […] the location. Both restaurants could not be better Read more

"tiny rooms"
Small room, no charm, tiny bathrooms
"The New Yorker- excellent location!!"
Lovely, historical, clean and safe. Centrally located between Central Park and Battery Park. Easily walk 'home' after Broadway shows. Shop in the fashion District or attend event at Madison Square Garden which is right next door. Cannot wait to stay there again!!
"Great location"
Hotel is in a great spot- Restaurant/lounge exceptionally good service- food and pricing. Would have liked the bedding to be a little nicer but room was very clean. Only recommendation to future travelers would be to call way ahead if picking up your car- We called the recommended half hour ahead and waited almost an hour and a half- Would stay here […] again Read more

"GREAT HOTEL, GREAT LOCATION BUT TINY ROOMS"
First of all you cannot beat the location of this hotel. The subway line is right next to the hotel, Maddison Sq Garden is across the street, Macy's one block down with lots of eating choices in a one block area and finally the Tick Tock Diner next to hotel serves a great breakfast. The check in was easy and staff very friendly. There are sucurity […] men by the elevators asking for your room key to ensure that only guest go up or they call your room to allow the person up. The only down side is the room size and the thinness of the walls. I knew every time both rooms on either side were taking a shower or using the bathroom. Also the room was very small, that I could not lay out my suitcases on the floor. But for the price, the condition of the hotel and location this is perfect for any length stay. Read more
"Decent"
Very close to penn station, nice & clean too. The showers had very light water pressure, which I can't stand. Otherwise nice!

"Great experience, reasonably priced"
European-style rooms in a great location. Nice art deco feel and very friendly staff. Will stay again!
"Taking in a show"
Had a wonderful time at the hotel and bar. Took in a Broadway Show Priscilla. Just a great time. Beautiful rooms and all personnel were just great.
"Oldie but Goodie"
Although not to distantly renovated, the the sink and tub and bathroom fixtures certainly show their age; as do the doors and other more permanent fixtures. You can only do so much with paint, carpet and wall paper. But, it was clean and well maintained. The bed was comfortable. It was a short walk to Times Square and MSG was across the street. For […] the price, it was fine. Read more

"Nice, Convenient mid-town hotel"
Checkin and out was easy and quick. Great location, walking distance to Times Square, Hell's Kitchen and a short subway ride to wherever else you want to go in the city. Subway stop is one block away. Great location overall. Room was clean, staff was nice. It is a NYC hotel room so don't expect extra space in your room. one person with one piece of […] luggage was fine but had there been another person or more luggage it would have felt very cramped. Only problem I had was the temp in my room. the windows seemed to leak cold air in and i coudn't control the thermostat. No real blanket on the bed, just a few sheets. I did call housekeeping for a blanket but I'm sure I could have. Tick Tock Diner off the main floor of the hotel is open 24 hours and convenient; but don't expect fast service. Good hotel overall, I would stay here again. Read more
"New Yorker-perfect on all fronts"
We had to stay for 6 days for music auditions, I got to know the staff very well and they were so nice. The ambiance of the hotel was so pleasant, the art deco atmosphere was so appealing. The lobby was a great place to relax and meet others. We took advantage of the wonderful Tick Tock Diner often for a good breakfast or a late night need for nachos. […] The neighborhood was excellent, easy walk to Times Square, across from subway and Madison Square, Empire State and shopping all along 8th Ave. We had no idea where to stay and luckily chose the New Yorker- so glad we did. We will always use the New Yorker when we return to New York. Read more
"Hotel New Yorker"
The hotel was clean and the location is perfect, affording access to all that New York City has to offer. It has a surprisingly good fitness center and housekeeping staff is also very nice. I highly recommend it.
"new yorker-close to sights"
hotel service was pretty good, close to everything including Penn Station and many things to walk to. Room was decent- cleaning could have been a little better.
"New Yorker Hotel"
The rooms are very small, as noted by others-basically just a queen bed and desk. But ,the bed is very comfortable. The bathroom was similarly tiny and only big enough for one person. The hot water took a while to reach the 32nd floor but eventually did, well enough. It never got truly HOT. The bath towels were quite small. Our room was in a very quiet […] alcove with no audible street noise at all. The hotel is Art Deco style. The TickTock Diner is very good and reasonably priced. The location is fantastic, near many subway lines. Read more

"The New Yorker"
It was located at 33rd and 8 Ave close the every sightseeing spot we wanted to see. Yes, I would recommend this hotel to friends and relatives.
"Hotel New Yorker"
Have stayed in this location 2 times now and can find no other hotel that compares for the price. Location is central to all theater an shopping. Restaurant and bar are excellent and Tic Tock diner is a great place for breakfast.
"New Yorker Hotel in NYC"
First impression was not good- the hotel could not initially find our reservation although I had a receipt showing the confirmation number and that it was paid in full. The women working at the reservation desk were extremely rude to customers. Essentially, a customer complaint was the customer's problem - in some cases they made fun of the customer […] as soon as they walked away. I had an appointment in the city and was told they would call when they located the reservation. 4 hours later, I had not gotten a call, so I called them and was told it was all worked out and that we had a room. I was told that we had a view of the Empire State Building to say they were sorry for the hassle with check in - we discovered that if you leaned far to the right of the window, you could just see a sliver of it behind 2 other buildings - it was a joke of a view. The few times I went to the front desk, there were at least one or two other people with complaints about being overcharged or mistakenly charged for amenities, too much noise in their room, horrible smells in the hallways, etc. This seems to be a pattern. Rooms are tiny with old fixtures - no place for toiletries in the closet sized bathroom. Had a hard time getting a decent shower spray. Very few outlets for charging phones, iPods, etc. There was a desk but the chair was about three inches from the bed - you could not pull it out to sit in it. Amenities were hugely overpriced but that's New York - no coffee in the room which was a bummer. Some good things - the 24 hour diner downstairs was very good for breakfast (only meal we tried there). I appreciated the security - you could not get on an elevator without showing your room key. Hotel location was excellent - very close to Penn Station (we came in by train and it was about a block walk), Madison Square Garden, walking distance to Times Square and Rockefeller Center, etc. There is some charm to the old art deco design of the hotel but in some cases, old just meant old. Excellent hotel, walking distance to the port authority (greyhound bus station), Madison square garden and Time Square. Subway train station right next door. Great quality for price.

"Comfortable and convenient"
Just got back from an overnight trip. The room was small but clean and the bed, comfortable. The staff was fine. We checked in at 10:00 am with no problem. It is very convenient if you have to check out at noon but your train leaves at a later time. Check your bag (yes it costs a buck which is what you should be tipping them anyways), see the town for […] the rest of the day and when you retrieve your bag you are right there at the station. I will definitely stay there again. Walking distance to lots of attractions, restaurants and shopping. Read more
"The New Yorker Hotel in Valentine's"
It was great pleasure to stay in The New Yorker hotel in my Valentine's day with my wife. Location was perfect to reach any nice place of NYC, metro station was just near by, you can just walk to grand central Time Square area. If there's any chance, I would stay the New Yorker hotel once again.
"Business trip: bedbugs, but good customer service"
Trip was for a week in NYC for business. The room was comfortable BUT the first night I was attacked by bedbugs (!!!!) I brought the offender down to the front desk and they immediately relocated me. The hotel GM was very accommodating, had fumigators treat the hotel, and also paid for all of my clothes & luggage to be professionally steam-cleaned! I […] would actually return, as the staff did everything in their power to make things right. Kudos to the GM and his team for this great customer care! Thank you! Read more
"New Yorker Hotel our favorite place to stay in NYC"
Whenever my wife and I go to New York we always stay at the New Yorker. It is so close to Penn Station that we can walk to it. There are many subway lines in the area. It's one stop from Times Square. The staff is always friendly, the architecture is beautiful, and the Tick Tock Diner is a great place to grab a bite to eat.
"Affordable and Conveinent"
I chose the New Yorker because it was right next to the office I was visiting.. The rooms are a bit on the small side but acceptable-- I didn't go to NY to stay in the hotel room. The bed and ammenties are high quality and so I had a comfortable night's sleep. The neighborhood is busy especially during rush hours but I expected that for being right […] next to Penn Station, Madison Square Garden and the Macy's shopping district. Overall it was good value. "barking dogs"
They allowed dogs into the hotel without us knowing about it, there was a dog show. The room across from us had two small dogs barking whenever they heard a noise and I had to stuff a sweat shirt in my door since it was not lined up and you could see through it

"New Yorker Hotel - Very Good"
We were impressed by our accommodations at the New Yorker Hotel. The only negative was the general demeanor of the check-in staff - NOT particularly friendly. All others though, were wonderful. The concierge and Cooper's Tavern staff went out of their way to make sure that we had an excellent stay. The rooms, while not large, were clean and well kept. […] Would definitely recommend to our friends. Read more
Did not like the fact that they charge for holding luggage. We had to pay a fee to check them and another fee when we got them back. Room was extremely small. Shower water kept going from hot to cold.
"The New Yorker Hotel"
It is a nice place to stay, close to almost everything you need to do / see in New York. Price is good, service is great - especially the front desk people!!
"good hotel for the money"
Hotel offered good value for the money. Staff is courteous and helpful.

"Location"
The location was amazing, but even by NYC standards this is no four star hotel. I stayed in a three star hotel for the other two nights of my trip that was palatial in camparison and much cleaner. The location was great, but you shouldn't expect four stars. This is an adequate three star room in a great location.
"Good hotel"
I've stayed at the New Yorker a couple of times now and have found it to be perfectly serviceable. It's not luxury decor, but the rooms are quiet, clean and comfortable. The staff was particularly friendly and helpful on this visit.
