"Old city charm in a great location"
The room wasn't as small as I was expecting after reading the reviews. You can't expect a gigantic suite-like room in the heart of the city unless you want to pay a fortune. And even then, why do you want to stay in your room when you're in the middle of Manhattan! The room was a great size for my wife and I. We were super close to Penn Station, which […] is a good hub if you're going to use other commuter lines like PATH (to Jersey). Only complaints have to be the old state of the bathroom door (no lock and it had to be force-shut), the shower head which spits water at you instead of providing streams, and the surcharge to have the hotel hold your baggage after you check out. I was very pleased with my room and the comfort of my surroundings. It was very convenient for my meetings and to Penn Station. Thank you!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"NYC with Son for convention"
Hotel was very clean. Bed and bedding super comfortable. Location was almost too good as getting in and out by car was a challenge. I didn't pay the 40bucks to park with hotel valet and regret it as I got a ticket for $90. My only issue with the hotel was the room cost, but I knew it up front.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to Penn Station"
Great location as I was coming in on the train. Room was typical small NY hotel room but view from the 37th floor was amazing. Bathroom was surprisingly outdated, but functional. The front desk staff bordered on rude...I booked through hotels.com but they could not find my reservation when I arrived; they were LESS than friendly.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location, clean and comfortable room"
Loved our stay. Traveling mother and daughter had originally booked a queen bed to keep costs down. Without asking, hotel staff offered a larger room to fit a roll-away. Then, without asking, hotel staff provided us a room with 2 doubles, no charge! Room was super cute with modern updates. Would certainly stay again and recommend to friends!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Clean, satisfactory; otherwise a bland offering"
Satisfactory for a quick business visit, but if for pleasure, for a hundred dollars more a night, you can get significantly more in all departments, so, I would not choose this hotel again for a visit that I hope will be memorable in every way.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"close to train station post office and shopping"
very convenient, a bit steap price, drafty windowsGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We have stayed in The New Yorker several time and don't know why we would stay anywhere else. Great location and staff is the best.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Everything about the hotel was great except for the size of the room. The smallest hotel I was ever in in the states! It was for only 1 night so it was ok. Anything other than 1 night and more than 1 person and you will be too cramped.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Liked the hotel a lot except for the guys in ground transportation who were close to rude and the lobby, which seemed a bit down at the heel. I loved my room. I thought the restaurant was only so-so.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
New Yorker Hotel was a great stay (2 nights)... I have booked for 7 nights from 7th October & looking forward to the comfort of such a beautiful hotel. The location is great & all staff were pleasant making my stay enjoyable.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Iconic Hotel With a City View"
I am in NYC once a month for business and this hotel has one of the best views I have ever seen. Rooms are a bit small, however if you don't plan to be in the room that often it shouldn't be a problem. The hotel is located near subway stations, access to cabs is easy, service was great and the Empire State building is just a couple blocks away!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not worth the high rate."
Not what I expected for the price. never stay again.Hotel staff very nice though.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"lack of communication"
The water was cut off on Friday 13 September, from 11pm to 5am. But it was not on at 5:15 when I woke up. At 8am I was told a manager would give me a room to use for a shower, within 20 minutes. This did not happen. Phonecalls to the desk weren;t answered. We were told we would be moved to a new room. This also did not happen. Eventually at 10:30am […] we were given a room in which to shower. At 11:15 we were told the water was on. We went back to our room to check, and the water was not on! We were eventually given a new room at 10pm when we returned. There were a lot of unhappy guests at the reception desk, and a number of defensive hotel employees. If I were in charge, I would have had staff knocking on every door on the affected floors, giving guests bottles of water to drink or brush their teeth, and telling them where they could shower and at what times. I would also have halved their room rates for that night, as the facilities aailable were less than those on offer at the average dormitory back-packers. (You did waive the extra charge for having a room with two beds, but that is not enough compensation for the inconvenience of having no water.) Also, when we booked online, we were told there were no rooms available with two beds. However there were double rooms when we got to the hotel, so you might like to have a look at your website. The room we first had (1945) was very cramped and musty. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good value for the cost"
I will probably not stay here again for business but if I was going on a quick trip that was more price sensitive I would probably stay here again. The rooms are small and the bath room is VERY dated but the staff is very nice, responsive and professional. Overall, very satisfied at this price point but you do get what you pay for.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The room was very small and the staff were snotty and not at all helpfulGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Location near the Manhattan Center Studios"
Had a tradeshow to attend at the Manhattan Center Studios and the New Yorker worked out perfectly located just around the corner to MCS. It is an older property which does not provide a completely luxurious experience but the staff and service definitely try to make up for it.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good location - right by garment district"
No real bells and whistles. Was a great price, though. Everything looked rather old, but I suppose that's part of its charm. Had an old art-deco look to it. Even smelled a little "old", too. Maybe bring an air freshener. :)Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Super hotel at a great spot!"
Lovend my stay at this hotel. Had a metro room with a view at The Empire State building. The room was very clean. The staf of the hotel was very nice and helpfull.Genuine Expedia guest review
"It was OK."
Great location, but it was a very small room, and inside the shower room was very old. The shower didn't have enough water pressure, and it was hard to control hot and cold. Their room cleaning starts around 7AM, and they close other room doors very laud and they speak really laud in the hallway, so if you are night out person and sleep in late, this […] hotel isn't a good choice. We couldn't sleep after 7AM because of the sound from the hallway. One night, their water pipe had a problem, so there was no water between 11PM and 5:30AM including the toilet. Since it happened to more than 100 rooms, we didn't get a new room although they prepared a room for people to take a shower on that night. The last night we stayed, our toilet didn't flush again...sigh, so I had to go to the lobby to use a toilet. We stayed at some other hotels in NYC before, so we know that some hotels are old and some rooms are small, but this hotel room condition was very disappointing sadly. Hotel staffs were very nice and friendly though... Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Old shabby hotel for the high price"
I will never recommend this hotel to anybody. For around 200$ per night be ready to spend time in a small shabby room with ancient bathroom facilities. Not enough staff at the reception, so there was always a long line to the reception. Stuff looks tired and unfriendly. Though the location is good, but I found other districts (Chelsea or Westvillage) […] more convenient for staying. At the last day of my stay there I had no hot water in room...just was happy I leave it finally! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Overall the place was just dirty. Our sheets had holes in them the bathroom paint was chipping. we had to shower with pieces of paint falling on us. and the event we went to was supremely on organizedGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"NEW YORKER HOTEL"
THE NOISE LEVEL WAS OK, BUT, THE BATHROOMS & CLOSETS WERE TERRIBLE. NO ROOM FOR TWO PEOPLE TO PASS IN BATHROOM AND NO UPDATES WITH SHOWERS. CLOSETS WERE SO BAD, THE HANGERS FOR YOUR CLOTHES HAD TO BE "SIDEWAYS" TO BE ABLE TO CLOSE THE DOOR.Genuine Expedia guest review
"So much for a landmark."
The room was smaller than my closet. And on that note the rooms closet wasn't even wide enough to hang clothes in. As for the bathroom, the caulk in the bathtub looked as if it was put on by a six year old. Several tub tiles seemed as if they had been painted and were now peeling. The faucets had to be cranked down to stop leaking. Also the wash basin […] hardly drained at all. Windows were clouded over so bad as to block most of the view. No coffee maker or any other amenities. The ever present scaffolding seen through out the city was also on The New Yorker, even though no evidence of recent work being done could be seen. When arrive, in the morning, people are working in the front of the building, near the room´s window. The Staff change our room for other better tham I pay. More confortable, big, excellent.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Great location, great price, tiny room."
The hotel was priced right and the location couldn't have been more convenient. It is an old (historic) hotel and the it shows. The room was very small and the bathroom was a little musty. The staff were nice and the Tick Tock Diner was great.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Great Location Near Penn Station!"
Great Service, Great Rooms with very comfortable beds. Two full bathrooms plus a pull-out sleeper bed for guest. Two flatscreen TV's on the walls, one in living room, one in bedroom. Large closet in bedroom with safe and a refrigerator that you can use for your own food and drinks! Great looking rooms for a great price!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Close to everything downtown..."
Very close to Penn Station which is a bonus, 10 minute walking distance to Times Square. Hotel staff was friendly. A little on the small side for rooms but would most definitely stay there again.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Small but comfortable room, good shower"
room was nicely appointed. need was comfortable. shower was good, hot, and of decent size. there was enough room to operate, but as is typical with NYC lodging, the room was small.. 'efficient'. A very pleasant stay overall.Genuine Expedia guest review
"OK, nothing very good or bad"
Nice lobby; romms very small (as in many other New York hotels) and you can hear the toilets flush and the showers in use in the adjacent rooms. No coffee maker.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Hotel rooms are very dated; lobby freezing cold"
Because lobby is so cold, it forces you outside to wait for your companions. But when outside the door, all the smokers are standing around causing you to inhale their fumes. Not good! Also, the garbage is piled high near the hotel, which takes away from the welcome.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Good hotel, not a four star"
It's not an insult to say this isn't a four star hotel. It's a fine hotel, in need of an update, but well-maintained. It's just not a four-star as advertised or reviewed. The rooms are very small, and the walls are thin. A party on my floor should have been policed better, although security did break it up (at 11:30pm on a Friday night after I had to […] complain. I hate being That Guy). Check in was quick and efficient, location is very good for those who have just arrived or who need a place close to Penn Station. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
