I think the rooms could be a little bigger and the hotel should offer free wi-fi at the least.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Clean but small"
Nice hotel. The room itself is pretty small but clean and comfortable.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
It was a great spot! I would stay there again!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Service was mediocore and room was really small. Otherwise, it's a cool, trendy place that's very comfortable. And great spa.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
From check in to check out, the managers, front desk people to the room service was outstanding. ONLY GLITCH: We were getting married in Central Park on Sunday morning and arranged and confirmed the "car service" provided by the hotel...they never showed and we were 10 minutes late for our own wedding because we had to hail taxis.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The rooms are nice and clean but dark with minimal lighting.Genuine Expedia guest review
It's a nice place to stayGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Excellent Midtown Manhattan location, half a block from the 6 train line, and two blocks from the E-M train lines. The suite bathroom could use some detail (mold in shower and mold on the bathroom ceiling) and some of the furniture is looking a little shabby. Overall, I would stay here again, but at the price per night, I do expect more.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Hotel is an oasis in the middle of NYC hustle and bustle. Staff is the friendliest one in all of NYC. They make you feel like family. Cozy/ Standard rooms are small but clean and neat. What more do you need to drop your bags and go.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Hip Midtown Hotel for Business or Pleasure"
First time at the W on my last business trip to NYC. Wanted to try out the W as I have heard many positive reviews and the location is perfect for my business meetings being centrally located right in the heart of Midtown. Overall I was very pleased with the hotel. The rooms are not big (like any other NYC hotel) but they werent cramped, were more hip […] and updated than most, and was always very clean. The hotel lobby/bar always had the urban house music vibe going which was neither obnoxious or overpowering. Free wi-fi in the lobby/bar area is a nice touch to get some work done after the day and grab a cocktail. Heartbeat, the restaurant inside the hotel also has some really good hidden gems on the menu. Whiskey Blue is the bar/lounge connected to the hotel and is a good atmosphere for grabbing a cocktail or taking a load off at night without venturing to other parts of Manhattan. The crowd seemed to be a younger, more affluent, business professional type crowd. Bottom line is if you are looking for a great, hip, chic hotel in Midtown for business or pleasure with good amenities at a fair price, the W is your spot! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Quiet reasonable hotel in NY city. Convenient walking distances to Central Park or Time Square. Spectacular room was quite small and missed a safety box. Bathroom facilites were clean, but between the bed and the bedstand peanut remains (from the previous occupant) were left for the whole 4 night stay. The room walls seem to be thin, could hear people's […] voices from the next room when thye talked. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"W hotel nyc falls short."
The staff at check in was extremely rude! Astronomical prices which the W fell short. The room was tiny and lots of noise in front of the elevator. Won’t be staying here again.Genuine Expedia guest review
To make a long story short the rooms were so small it laughable. .. majority of front desk staff were rude... the worst part was the shower which is whar really got me upset... the water was luke warm while turned all the way to hot and the towels smelt... I mean like really stunk... somr smelt of sweat and others a strong vinegar odar... i had to shower […] three times one morning as I had my husband keep calling for more new towels. Each towel was worst than the next. The location was great though but not worth the agitation. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location, average experience"
As with any W hotel, there is an expected level of quality. The location was convenient and the room itself was clean and thoughtfully appointed; however, I will not stay at this location again. We were placed in an interior room... getting cell signal was impossible. The air conditioner was LOUD... so loud my companion and I had trouble hearing one […] another speak over it. And, finally, on our last day, I atypically checked the bill placed at our door only to discover an erroneous $75 mini bar charge. The front desk took care of it quickly, however, I was disappointed by the discrepancy and annoyed that I had to deal it on the last, rushed morning of our trip. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"nice, pricey, small room (spectacular) not really."
First time in New York. Hotel overall was nice, but thought it was a little pricey for a very small sized room. It is in a good location and close to everything in the city. I would stay there again.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great location and good vibe but....."
The location of this place was great. Walking distance to Central Park and Times Square. It was my wife's 50th birthday and we spent 8 nights at the hotel. The employee checking us in was very nice and gave us free WiFi when I told her it was my wife's b-day (woopie). The room is tiny which we expected. There are only 2 drawers for clothing and space […] was big issue. We reserved a king bed but only received a queen. The bed however very, very comfortable. Noise a slight issue but I don't think you can get away from it in Manhattan. We had to listen to two maids curse and argue for about 20 minutes when we arrived in our room, thought there would be a cat fight-almost had to call security. We left our room late one day around 4:00 PM. Checked with the desk and requested late maid service-room was not serviced. We arrived late that night to find no clean towels or fresh sheets so I found a unlocked closet down the hall and we changed the sheets and towels ourselves. Last day/night at hotel we again did not receive maid service and after getting in at about 1:30 AM figured it was way too late to get linens and that unlocked closet was now locked-oh well. The bar Whiskey Blue very cool but slightly over priced ($15 plus well drinks) and the lobby very comfortable and pleasing. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Lobby Bar needs a little cleaning"
The W is a great location and has a great vibe. Wonderful to come back at night to music playing in the Lobby Bar. Only complaint is the dirty furniture. Since the Lobby Bar is also the breakfast area, the chairs and couches are stained with coffee, jelly, and other bits of breakfast. There ar big globs on some of the armrests. Everything needs to be […] replaced or have a good steam cleaning. That said, I would still stay here again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice hotel right on Lexington Avenue (beautiful)"
Had a great experience in this hotel from the moment my friend and I entered to the time we left. Everyone was very nice, and it was super comfortable and enjoyable. This was a weekend I needed some down time and relaxation and the W hotel DID NOT DISAPPOINT!Genuine Expedia guest review
"party with the tourists"
Very nice hotel, but not quiet. DJ in lobby, thumping music in lobby and elevators. Party atmosphere means people talking in the hallways and slamming doors at all hours. Similar experience we had at the Hudson Hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Mid town Manhattan-W Hotel"
20 minute walk to Times Square. 5 minute walk to St. Patricks. We stayed in a "Cozy Room". It was clean, the bed was comfortable, but the room and bathroom were TINY! I am told that is the NY standard. We have been on cruises and our shipboard cabin was more spacious. No closet space so don't bring alot of clothes. More than a carry on bag or two will […] make the room very crowded since it will take up floor space. The lobby, bar and restaurant were very nice. The staff was helpful and courteous. I would stay there again. We didn't get to sleep the last night we were there due to a party in room next to ours. My wife called security at 3am and the Hotel staff evicted the revelers at about 4 am. I guess that is why New York is known as the city that never sleeps. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"NY W Trip"
Fantastic location, quiet room. Great staff. Expensive for NY but nice. Bathroom extra small, very nice mattress.Genuine Expedia guest review
Our room was no bigger than the smallest cabin on a cruise ship, I've never seen a room that small. Yeah, yeah - I know it's NYC, I grew up there. But this room was REALLY small even for NYC standards. On Sat. they "upgraded" us to a "spectacular" room which wasn't much bigger. But since it was really just a place to sleep, the room size wasn't a big […] deal. What was a big deal was for this price, you should not be able to hear the person in the next room flushing his toilet or people outside in the hallway all night long. Inexcusable. The room air conditioner sounded like a wounded giraffe. If you are a light sleeper, this is NOT the place for you. Loudest hotel I've ever stayed in. All in all, the location speaks for itself - but for the same price or possibly a little more money you could (and should) stay across the street at the Waldorf. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"No mini bar"
I love the W Hotel. The rooms are small and tend to be dark but they are clean and the overall vibe is one of calmness. The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. My only issue was that upon a late arrival, of which I'd notified the hotel ahead of time, the mini bar in my room wouldn't open. I'd had a long trip and would have enjoyed a cocktail […] or glass of wine. I called the front desk and they said they'd send someone up. I waited about 20 minutes and no one came. I then went down to the front desk and inquired again. They said it was an electrical problem and they would fix it. It was never fixed and I was only there one night. "Not what I expected for a W Hotel"
The Lobby, the bar, and all common areas are beautiful. My room, however, was very disappointing. I booked a Fantastic Suite and I was surprised at how small it was. I stay in hotels in Manhattan at least 50 nights per year and I was disappointed with the size. Tiny bathroom for a suite. A closet door that could not be open as the same time as the door […] to the separate bedroom (they hit each other completely). The air conditioner in the bedroom sounded like an airplane taking off. The air conditioner in the living room was quiet so I slept out there. I have to say, however, that I did not call the front desk. I am sure they would have tried to help me but I just did not have anytime. I was there for dinner and a show and I did not have time to move my things.....or wait for a maintenance person.....or waste any time on this. By the time I got back to my room, I also did not want to change rooms or wait for a maintenance person so I guess this is partially my fault (because I had no time to deal with this issue). I also thought it was strange that when I left my room at 9:30 AM to go grab some breakfast the housekeeping staff asked me if I was checking out today because they had me as a check out. I said yes i am checking out and then they asked me what time I thought I would be back to grab my things......how about "I paid a lot of money for this room so I can leave as close to check out as I feel like!" Just saying. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Small Room Great Hotel"
The room we got was suprisingly tiny, especially after we were told by the front desk she was upgrading us into a 'larger' room. I have never seen a room that small, the bed basically reaches both walks. But the decor was consistent with the W contemporary style. Comfortable bed and I am a big fan of the Bliss product line provided. The downstairs is […] chic and has a hip scene later in the evening. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We paid for a fantastic suite to have our son with us , but the living room had barely a kind of couch. We had to ask for towels, conforter, sheets but we paid for 3 . The cleaning service was also not the best ... "Not a great W"
Got in late on Sunday night and found nothing short of a Rave going on in the lobby. People out of their minds and music so loud... I felt worse for the staff than I did for me. The rooms are small, as you would expect. The staff is nice. The bartenders are great and friendly. The valet guy is kind of a dick but that is to be expected from any guy who […] makes $7 an hour...or basically any guy in NYC. "Great hotel that was in the center of Manhattan!"
The experience overall was fantastic! The hotel staff was very courteous and friendly, the room was in great condition. The only downside to the room itself was the lack of a usable fridge and coffee maker. But overall it was great. With the hotel being right in the heart of Manhattan, everything is so convenient. The subway is 2 blocks away, with Grand […] Central station being 5 blocks in the other direction. In a great part of the city and I would love to stay again! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great location and price"
Look the comfy rooms are small, but only if you compare them to cities outside of the Manhattan. For Manhattan, it is a normal size living space. The bed was a little soft for my taste but it is comfortable and clean. The AC was awesome even being there during a heatwave. Also, there is a subway stop right outside.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Cozy but cramped room. Otherwise, nice."
I have stayed in hotels whose rooms cost less and are more spacious and comfortable. I felt very cramped and did not want to stay in my room and relax after a day of touring. Besides the room, the hotel is very nice, and the service is very good. They were very accommodating and friendly.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very good considering the discount"
This W is a good solution when you want a little style, interesting staff and a social scene as well as comfortable rooms....as long as you get a discounted rate. You have a good breakfast deal 2 blocks away as well as a Starbucks.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"need to try this again"
over all it was a nice hotel. great energy and liviely vibe. room was smaller than expected. but are big issues were just to much noise. maybe bad luck that night. a great arguement from the couple across the hall at 2am. security was called and came promply, at 730am sat, a construction team started there project outside are window. the noise was odd […] since we were on the 5th floor. we thought it was a trash pickup but no. several loud men on a landing 2 floors down. mngt was nice and compt us breakfest. but the bottom line was we didnt sleep well finally at checkout our agent was very nice but was distracted by another front desk agent that was busy showing off her shopping goods to the other ladies. our agent even looked at her to stop but (Eva , she was atractive) wouldnt stop it was just odd as she held court about her watch and new purchases at the front desk. The hotel was great! Perfect for our romantic getaway where my then boyfriend proposed! While the room was small, it was honestly all the space we really needed. "4th of July Trip to NYC"
Staff was incredibly courteous and helpful. Room was very nice and a great value for the price. 2 blocks to the subway for 4, 5, and 6 trains - very convenient for getting around the city. Lots of dining options right around the hotel. Duane Reade was right on the corner for purchasing any extras we needed. Close enough to Times Square/Rockefeller Center […] that you could walk, but far enough away that you were not in the middle of the craziness. Our only complaint was that there was no coffee maker in the room, and the mini bar/snack station took up a lot of space in the room. (Especially when we were never going to use/purchase any of the items). Would have preferred the coffee maker! Overall, great experience at this hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"For a short stay - absolutely!"
Hotel is close to subway, so that's great if you want to explore the city. Staff really friendly, rooms seem to be renovated yet in some corners you can still tell that it was really outdated. Rooms are small (at least for the cheap rates) but we basically only slept there anyway. Room and bathroom were absolutely clean. Nice service: they offer you […] a complimentary ride with a car, we did not do that so not sure how well that works and how long in advance you need to book. We felt it was a nice thing to offer though. AC is really noisy so we left it on during the day but turned if off at night. So all in all, great location, friendly staff and clean rooms - what more to expect for a weekend? Would go there again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
