The hotel charges 20 dollars a day for parking, but after being to Washington for the first time, and seeing how everywhere it costs from 15 to 30 dollars to park, it was fine, and we just parked our car there for the entire trip and walked, and took the bus. So overall, the hotel quality and service was very good, and the location was perfect, and we absolutely loved visiting Washington for the first time, and we would stay again at Savoy Suites. Savoy Suites is about 5 blocks from my DC office, but is usually more expensive than the Holiday Inn Georgetown, which is across the street from my office and where I usually stay. There was a great price on Hotels.com last week ($57/night cheaper than the HI) so I decided to try Savoy Suites. The hotel is very nicely appointed and the rooms are lovely. […] I had a wonderful view that included the Washington Monument. Drawbacks are: very unfriendly front desk staff -- that's over a couple of days with different staff on duty; I was there 2 days thinking there was no coffee maker in the room before I noticed it was in the closet (on the side I wasn't using); the WIFI is awful. It kept kicking me off the entire 3-day period I was there, which really screwed up an online graduate school test I was taking. As I was checking out, another woman was mentioning wifi problems to the front desk staff. I piped in that I had had problems as well. The woman at the desk said something to this effect: "I don't know how that could be it's been working great for us all morning." Enough said. Read more

Wonderful stay. The general area, we are told is hopping. Certainly the abundance of restaurants, cafes, etc. butresses this statement. We have only one critical comment: Finding this hotel was a little problematic as we iniially did not see the hotel name; the building is receded somewhat from the street. Wonderful small hotel with clean comfortable rooms in a very quiet and convenient (not downtown) location. Front desk/reservations was less wonderful than the rest of the hotel. Nice assett was free shuttle to the terrific National Zoo and red line Metro stop.

I have stayed at the Savoy Suites several times. As usual, I was welcomed by a friendly and professional staff and was also upgraded to a spacious Grandview king suite with beautiful views of the Capitol Bldg. and Washington Monument. The room was freezing cold so I cranked the heat up to 70 and waited and waited for it to warm up. Over the course of […] an hour, I cranked the heat to the highest setting 90 degrees and fell asleep. By morning the room was still uncomfortably cold and the bathroom was freezing cold as it is the farthest place from the minimal heat source. I told front desk on my way out and returned to a cold room again that evening. Maintenance came (quickly!) and the man was irritated that I had cranked heat up to the highest setting & pretty much tried to blame it on "my actions"... are you kidding me? He managed to set the unit to work better but it was on 87 all night (did I mention the noise?) and I know I could not have spent another night in that room. At checkout they offered to waive the previous night's parking fee bec I asked for some consideration. I told them the best they could do is to fix the heating unit for the next guest! That said, room service was excellent, the restaurant food is quite good, the bartender is super-friendly and kind, and the location is ideal for visiting my kids in DC. Also, shopping is right down the street. I would recommend this hotel but don't hesitate to ask for a room change if you are not satisfied! Read more

My room had a door to an adjoining room. There was no soundproofing at all and at midnight six or seven people came into the room next door to party until 2 am when I knocked on the door and asked them to stop. Breakfast was a buffet not included and expensive for what it was.

Nice hotel to stay at. However, I was charged $20 for parking even with my SUV being too big to drive thru the garage door opening. I was offered to park out back of the hotel and felt not too secure of a location for my SUV. I choose a side street. When I notified the hotel when I saw the charge on my credit card, I contact them and was told, "the […] manager will call you back in 1 hour". That was 4 days ago and still no call. While $20 is not going to save the world, once again American business left a sad taste in my experience. Other than that, the hotel was fine. We had a great stay and would return to the Savoy Suites. The staff was friendly, helpul, courteous. Our room was cleanwith a brand new updated bathroom which was a big plus! The bed pillows weren't as comfortable as I would have liked but still very happy!!

Well, nice room but no bath tub, shower only in all rooms. Room was clean but sheets a little rough. Not really walking distance to anywhere was going to American University and had to take car. Also they tell you no parking fee but there is a twenty dollar fee. We were there 2/18/2013. Would probably stay somewhere else next time.

This hotel was reasonably priced with free parking ! in a location near American University. It is not near the metro but is on several bus lines, in a way I was glad to have taken the bus so I could see the neighborhoods I was traveling through. The service was terrific. Excellent hotel. Loved how easy it was to get to multiple locations in the greater DC area. Free parking and a fridge were fabulous. Wifi and cellular service were not good; hard for business trip...but I was rarely in the room, so it was okay for this trip.

I booked this hotel for a one-night stay through Expedia's hidden deals. I was a little leery of booking a mystery hotel, but it worked out just fine! The hotel staff were very pleasant and helpful in person and on the phone. I called in advance to confirm they had received my reservation from Expedia. It seemed he was also always working! The room was fine. Not stunning or gorgeous, but a standard-above average hotel room. Definitely worth the bang for the buck! Room had coffee pot, fridge, large screen TV, decent bed, full length, stand-up shower (no tub, but very nice shower!), large counter in bathroom, big closet, and lots of room! Hotel (room, lobby, elevators, etc) over all was very clean. It is a little far from the Metro, but a quick trip in a cab or on the hotels shuttle to and from the station. During the day, when I had time, I did walk from the Metro stop to the hotel, which is completely doable if you enjoy nice, long walks. If you're staying here with the intention to spend time in Georgetown, this hotel is a great deal! The main campus is just over a mile away and a beautiful walk. I paid extra for a room with a view. The room looked out on the street with a small side window that you could glimpse the edge of the mall. This was not what was advertised. Bathroom extremely small.
