hotel staff were excellent, hotel itself was great, tours offered in hotel around Bangkok were enjoyable and easy to book, river taxi offered by hotel was fabulous and they are frequent and easy to get on and off. Loved this place hated to leave. We will return.

The Hotel is a lovely property, clean big room set in a beautiful garden. The location is not the best because you must take a 15 minute (free) boat ride to get to the public transportation points and there isn't really much in the neighborhood to do. As a result of it's distance the prices of food at even the cofee shop are pretty breathtaking by Bangkok […] standards although everything is delicious. I was a littlle annoyed that the free coffee and tea maker in the room has a bottle of water next to it without any label that the price for the bottle (1 liter) is 376 baht, or $12.50. I think it is a convenience location and able to get away from the city. I took BTS from the airport after you get off there will be a free hotel boat shuttle to the hotel. Since the weather in Thailand was humid and hot, they will provide you a wet towel. I will definitely choose this hotel again due to the quality of service.

I enjoyed every minute of my 6 day stay at Anantara Bangkok Resort and Spa. The location near the river and FREE boat service to Tha Sathorn train station was very convienant. I didn't have a bad experience there, but I can't say it was a great experience, either. What I liked: The pool is very nice. It's big, the tempurature is perfect, it never seemed crowded. The jacuzzi was perfect. And it was open late. The breakfast buffet was huge, and not bad. Fresh fruit juices and fruit, great omelettes, Thai and Chinese dishes. […] The slippers and robes were very nice and comfortable. The hotel is right on the river so easy access to the Grand Palace and Wat Arun. The complimentary boat to the other side of the river offers cold towels when you come back after a hot day sightseeing. And there was even a staff member who was really helpful about where to go and how to get there. There's an adjacent mall with great Thai food and places to get very good Thai massages. Now for the downside. It seemed like the hotel cared more about the weddings there than they cared about the guests. Half the lobby was blocked for the weddings. The hotel is far from the city. We didn't spend much time in the city because it was just too much of a hassle. Also, we told the staff that it was our honeymoon and several times they promised they would do something but then never delivered. I wouldn't have minded so much if they didn't offer. All round a great resort with excellent staff, service and food. However, my only gripe is how much weddings interrupt and inconvience general resort guests. For example, during our stay there was a three day Indian wedding celebration. This involved very LOUD Bollywood style music that we had to listen to from 12pm to 6pm on two of the days. By the […] second day management were offering free cocktails to guests by the pool with apologies for the music. In addition, one night the wedding guests partied till 5.30am! They were drunk, roudy, played music till 1.30am, and were running up and down the halls. Security were unable to get them to behave and police had to be called. After this night i complained to the desk manager, who was very apologetic, explained that others had also complained and that a meeting was being held that morning in response to complaints. To give the resort credit, they shouted myself and my two children to a first-class meal at 'Brio', the italian restaurant in the resort. Their timely response and concern for our discomfort was admirable. Overall, although we were unhappy about the wedding's impact on our stay at the resort, i would not hesitate to return and i would highly recommend it for both couples and families. Read more

Quality of staff and service is exceptional. The grounds, facilities and services are also excellent. My room had a good view and bathroom was great. Certain parts of room a little dated but didn't affect view of hotel at all. Cleanliness was immaculate.

We (late 30s couple on our first long holiday together) went to the Anantara for a week. It is hard to find anything to say against the hotel. The location (by the river front) is most pleasant (away from the smells and traffic of the centre of Bangkok) and the free boat shuttle to Pier 5 is quick, frequent and really pleasant. There is a variety of excellent restaurants in the resort, the swimming pool area is very pleasant, shaded by trees and shrubs, with a happy hour at 16h00 which will delight cocktail-lovers. We particularly enjoyed dining on the hotel pier, and the Wagyu beef burger (room service or swimming pool bar) is to be tried at least once! I would definitely go back there if I were to come back to Bangkok. The one little downside (which was overall very insignificant) is that the resort seems to be very popular with the locals for weddings, with the result that there can be large parties of guests and loud music not always to one's personal taste (3 wedding parties in one week). The rooms were great,but there is no rooms for easy disable / people. The staff were excellent and offered all the assistance that we needed. Disabled toilets are not accessable by the person in the wheel chair as they are located within the the toilet block which requires another person to open the door.

If you're looking for a hotel in Bangkok with a fantastic pool area, for sunbathing and relaxing then this is the hotel for you. however, if you're looking to be right in the centre of the action, close to the shops at Siam and Silom then this is not the hotel for you. It's quite a large, impersonal 'complex' (which after spending 2 weeks at boutique […] properties in Chiang Mai and Koh Samui was a little overwhelming), and quite far away from the shopping malls and nightlife in Sukhumvit. While the hotel provides a free shuttle boat (15 mins) to the skytrain, it's another 15/20 minutes to get to the centre of town which when it's a hot, muggy day in Bangkok is not ideal. Our room was adequate, but not incredible - in fact it was a little dated in terms of decor (the safe was so old that all the numbers had rubbed off the buttons and had been re-written on in biro!). That being said, the quality of the breakfast was exemplary - a wealth of choice in a fantastic riverside setting - the perfect way to set you up for a day of shopping and sightseeing. If I went back to Bangkok and was only there for a few days I would stay at a hotel closer to the action, but for anyone staying for longer that wants to spend some time soaking up the rays by the pool the Anantara won't disappoint. We booked a junior suite and were finally upgraded to a normal suite with good river view when we found and reported that the bed sheet was terrible with a large area of dirty stain. Not only were we deeply astonished but also the assistant manager on duty when she saw the bed sheet in our room and were shocked. This hotel is a nice resort near the river. However, the Peninsular Hotel and some other riverside 5-star hotels should be a better choice at similar price. I booked a so-called junior suite but acutally it was no better than a double room of any 5-star hotels in Bangkok given the room size and facilities not to mention guests of junior suite have no access right to the club lounge of the hotel. I think I wouldn't come back to this hotel but would choose the Peninsular Hotel again on our next visit to Bangkok. Read more

The whole resort is just a maze with lots of restaurants and other services for you to explore. The pool is amazingly good and surrounded by more than enough tanning chairs.
