No free parkingGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Hilton Garden Inn Austin Downtown/Convention Center Thank you for your review. Free parking is not available in downtown but we are always comparing our pricing within the city to ensure we offer the best price in town.
I enjoyed every part of this stay. Room was comfortable, breakfast was great, and friendly staff. The only thing that I was not happy with was the fact that when I received my bill in the morning they had charged me an extra $30.00 for parking. Not that big of a deal but its the principle behind it. If y'all are going to charge people to park at a Hotel […] where I am already paying $200+ for my room, it would be nice to know that there are additional charges. It's like those annoying hidden fees that businesses fail to tell you about. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Nice clean hotel, staff was amazing but the bed was the most uncomfortable bed I've ever slept in!! Pillows hard, bed hard.... If they changed the mattress and pillows the hotel would be awesomeGenuine Expedia guest review
It was such a pleasant stay. It was close to many attractions and restaurants. Staff was helpful. A staff member , Felicity, in the breakfast room was so nice and always smiling. She always remembered our names and always did an outstanding job. The valet staff was also very nice and always ask us about our day.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Breakfast, shower head only good items."
Located at end of popular cafe/bar street downtown; a good walk to the center of the area though. Rather pricey for motel atmosphere of room overlooking noisy freeway. Good shower head water pressure though. Parking, hotel rooms in single building unit. Disappointed with mediocre experience.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great staff reasonable location"
Inside courtyard room less than desire able. It was like an inside room on a cruise. Parking was higher than anticipated . Friendliness of the staff made up for this wonderful breakfast buffet.Genuine Expedia guest review
Only parking at the hotel was $28.00 per day, that was a surprise.StGenuine Expedia guest review
"A fine downtown option"
I stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn over the weekend of the Austin City Limits Festival for its convenience to Zilker Park. I found the facilities to be very comfortable, staff super friendly and attentive. The valet crew is especially warm, engaging, and efficient. I was disappointed by my room's view, however; I didn't realize the "garden" part of […] the hotel's name means most rooms are going to overlook an indoor courtyard, not outside. It's a lovely courtyard, but it was an inconvenience and a bit disconcerting to not know what the weather was like in the morning. Perhaps more than that, I was just plain hoping to be able to look out over downtown Austin. Also, there is no airport shuttle. Overall pleasing experience, and I might stay again if I could be assured a room with a real view. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"If you will be using cabs DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!!"
The room was a normal Hilton room. The bed was very comfortable. However if you are walking and taking cabs do not stay here. not a great area to walk from. If you need a cab forget it. Cabs were an issue the 5 days we were there. the morning we left it took 45 min for them to get a cab there. This is not New York. The other hotels had cabs lined up […] out front. For whatever reason they do not service this downtown hotel. The staff was not helpful in correcting this issue. they just kept saying one will be here in 5 min. It was not a big deal to them that we were now looking at missing our flight. Again this went on for 45 min. This was not a busy morning. I would not use this hotel again. To many others in the area including a Hilton and a Hampton. Again both with Cabs sitting out front 24/7 Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Very nice hotel, excellent ubication, good breakfast.Genuine Expedia guest review
The hotel is really nice. Clean rooms, nice service, but the valet stole all the silver change out of my car and a couple is dollar bills. Don't leave any loose change in your car. What makes it even worst is that we were tipping valet and they still stole from me. Other than that, I really like the location of the hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"God Location for Walking"
The hotel is very pleasant and quiet and is in a great location if you're willing to walk just a few blocks to the Convention Center or the Sixth St. Clubs. Breakfast was excellent and the restaurant has very nice views of the city. I'd easily stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good location, excellent breakfast!"
The restaurant is on the top floor, offered a really good cooked breakfast with cheerful staff. Very pleasant stay. The staff was really kind and helpful with every need. I would stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Kind hotel staff but lacking quality"
I've stayed at this hotel before and was very very happy. However, it's been a few years and this time was different. The valet service was fantastic, prompt and kind. When checking in/out, they were ok but not overly kind. My room was a disappointment. I paid for a city view and didn't receive that. I heard a loud base noise ALL NIGHT LONG. And my […] door wouldn't lock from the outside if I didn't jiggle the knob a bit so I was normally a little concern about what I left in the room. Sadly, I wouldn't go back if I knew I was going to have the same experience Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great Service, other than Housekeeping"
Wonderful location and a great hotel. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The only issue we had was with housekeeping. The first day they forgot to give us new washclothes or a bath mat. The second day we told them we just needed new towels and such but they didn't have to make beds as we were in and out of room. Just pick up. They gave us new towels […] and wash clothes (still no bath mat) but didn't pick up pile of dirty towels or garbage and didn't replace toilet paper. Kind of disgusting but we blamed it on language barrier and misunderstanding. Other than that, hotel and staff were amazing. Would go back again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Pool picture is very deceiving"
Overall, the hotel is nice. The valet area is very small can get very congested if it's a busy time (ex. around check-in) or if they are hosting a private event (ex. there was a wedding Saturday night so it was extremely crowded and we had to just sit in our cars for a little while until it was cleared out). It's not a huge deal, but if you're in a […] rush to get somewhere, it might be. When booking this hotel, not only were we comparing rates/location but also wanted someplace that had a nice pool. The pictures show a very cool waterfall/pool area. Well, just be aware that what you see in the picture is the absolute only pool space. There is no "pool" to swim around in. It's basically a small square (3-4 feet deep) where the waterfall is. They also do not have any lounge chairs to lay out. They do have 2 small tables/chairs out there but the area is very small so it gets crowded extremely quickly. Aside from the disappointment of the pool area, the rest of the hotel is pretty decent/nice. The staff was very friendly and the hotel was fairly clean. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Decent value, great location"
The Hilton Garden Inn, not to be confused with the other Hilton hotel a block away, was convenient to get to (right off I-35) and close enough to downtown/6th street to be convenient, without the inconvenience of having to put up with too much noise, partying, etc in the hotel. The hotel seems a bit past its prime, but has been fairly well maintained. […] The pool was small, but nice with a waterfall feature that my kids loved. At first I thought the required valet parking ($28 per night) would be really inconvenient, but the staff always had our car ready by the time we got down to the garage after calling for it. Desk and valet staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast on the 18th floor was very good. The beds were VERY comfortable. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great Location and Amenities!"
There are a lot of great things to say about the hotel, the business center being free and weight room was nice. We were there for 5 days and felt at home. Nice to have a microwave and fridge for left overs in room and I got the package with breakfast. I would stay there again!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Hilton Garden Inn Austin"
Pool area was small but very attractive, with a waterfall. A creek runs just outside the hotel - a bit murky (in the middle of the city), but you could almost always see fish and turtles in it. Five minute walk from the Convention Center, and easy walk to 30+ restaurants.Genuine Expedia guest review
"close to convention center"
I was at a convention for about a week in Austin, and this hotel was nice and close to the convention center and the meeting hotel. My room was always clean and everything was in good working order. Despite being next to the highway, I never had trouble getting to sleep or anything like that. Breakfast is not included and the parking rates are really […] high, but I didn't bring a car and I just ate at other places. I would definitely recommend this hotel over all. "Overpriced and poorly maintained"
I would have expected better quality overall for the paid price, I did not expect a valet service (maybe I should have to read the fine letters), since it is annoying having to wait beside the high tag price ($28 per night!!), on the other hand, hotel personnel very gentle and kind including the valet guys which really are so terrific folks which sort […] of improved to my overall experience. I would certainly not recommend the hotel to my friends. The room was smelly to smoke, but it disipated very much over the second day. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Hotel has everything you would need."
We booked through expedia and didn't know what hotel we got until after booking our room. To say we were pleasantly surprised would be an understatement. "Serious review about the hotel"
The location is right on the spot where nightlife club and bars are located and college area, and Hotel gets very busy and high traffic at the lobby with so many people for the weekend. Most likely, clients are between 20 to early 40s who frequently goes there. Online photos for the pool, shows it totally expanded and altered. the reality of the pool […] is like 15'L x 10'W. The pool at my house is bigger than this one and it is right at the lobby in display of everyone. For the parking, you must pay $28 for mandatory valet parking with no choice to park your car anywhere in the city, if you find a spot, you will pay by the hour. For the Service at front desk, they are professional enough to deal with the clients. but it feels like when you are dealing with a government agency employees with a fake smile and enough to say to be sarcastic/professional. The rooms are very clean and bed is very comfy. The only negative about the room is the bathroom, you are practically allow to do 1 and half step inside and door covers all the open space reaching the toilet. The breakfast service is awesome and service personnel are outstanding. You can observe and compare the difference with these personnel and the ones at front desk. I paid a total of $250 with all parking cost and internet with breakfast included for one night. I rate this hotel 3 out of 5 stars. The hotel is not bad at all, but certainly not worth for what you pay for. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Great hotel with great staff. Only issue was the additional cost of parking....$29 a night. Other than that it was excellent.Genuine Expedia guest review
The staff was polite, but the pool was very dirty and it did not function correctly. Trash and beer bottles in the pool. The staff in the restaurant was not very professional.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"hotel overbooked, unapologetic"
I am very disappointed with the above experience. On Expedia I got a room that sleeps 4 adults. I called the hotel around 3pm to say they would be late checking in (after 10pm)- room paid for. At 11:00 pm I called again to say they were on their way. I wanted to confirm the room I paid for she said- "we don't have any that sleep 4 left, you will get […] a king & a roll-away bed (if we have one)." I explained that 4 adults cannot sleep in 3 beds and that my reservation was for 4 adults- a king/queen sleeper sofa or 2 queens were shown on Expedia & confirmed by the nice front desk lady when i called earlier. This Front desk lady was rude & made silly excuses. Never apologized or offered remedy- like 2 regular rooms (she said she would charge for 2nd room). Expedia customer Service rep was excellent- he called the hotel for me. Our group ended up having to wait over an hour for a room to be cleaned but we did get the correct room VERY late. OK hotel but no central AC, only in room AC units that are quite noisy when you want to sleep. And since sleeping is a big part of the purpose of staying at a hotel, this is a problem.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"convient for downtown and 6th street"
I was never so disappointed in a hotel,no room service....parking was an added expence....you would think that for the price of the rooms that this Hilton would accomidate their guest a little better....I could not even get extra towels or coffee, anything delivered to room...would have been served better at a comfort inn....Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great price for the location"
I was in town for a convention and opted to stay here instead of the hotel where the convention was being held, another Hilton down the street. The price was much more affordable and the location to the convention was great! Just a short walk each day. It is also conveniently located within walking distance to several Austin attractions. "Girl's trip to Austin."
The hotel staff was pleasant for the most part. The only employee I felt like I "bother" was the cook behind the omelette station. He was not the same person from the day before so when I order my omelette with spinach just as I had the day before he got an attitude and then started two other orders before going to retrieve the spinach. The appearance […] was decent, it shows age. I was unaware of the amount of homeless people that roam Austin, particularly the 6th Street District. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Comfortable, great service, good location"
This hotel is very conveniently located close to I-35 and 6th street in downtown Austin. It is clean, well-maintained, and the service was good. Internet service is complimentary, but was very slow at times. Otherwise, highly recommended.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Convenient near Austin Convention Center but..."
It was loud. The wifi/internet was very spotty. Fine if you wanted to use at 3am, but otherwise connections were getting dropped frequently. It's near the highway.. yes.. you can hear traffic, horns, trucks, etc. They said there are rooms which are better, perhaps there are. The bathroom has a tub, but you can only take a shower in it because there […] was no stopper. I went for a run and came back to take an ice-bath.. no go. Were it not for the staff and some nice views I would've rated this hotel a 2 star. The staff was some of the most courteous and thoughtful I've had the pleasure of experiencing in a very long time! "Great for a couple nights on Sixth street"
Lots to like about the hotel - clean, great service, comfortable rooms: the location is very good for partying on sixth street and rainey street, however, after four nights, I was wishing we picked a hotel located more central downtown away from the noise and blight of sixth, where walks to the capitol, across the river to barton springs area and south […] congress wouldn't be so cumbersome. The hotel is right on the edge of sixth/downtown and the highway - nothing really of note is east (it actually gets rough pretty quickly), rather everything is west. If it matters to you: the pool area is a huge disappointment - miniature, located in a virtual wind tunnel, and receives no sunshine - only two tables and a half dozen chairs; the lounge is on the top floor and offers a nice view of Austin's skyline, but is lonely and depressing; mini-fridge in the room is a huge plus; check out the bakery/beer garden across the catwalk over to sixth. We and dozens of others had to wait around for hours in the hotel lobby because they were late in getting the rooms ready. Our room overlooked a junk yard and an interstate. The pool was full of drunks. The location is at the seedy end of 6th Street. It was an awful hotel stay. Never again!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"It was a really good hotel for the price"
Overall it was really good, the staff was really nice. The bed was pretty bad, I was slowly rolling in toward the depression in the middle of the bed. The only problem i had, was that i needed new towels and room service hadn't come that day, and i called the desk 4 times over a period of an hour and half before the brought towels, so i was annoyed, […] but wouldn't let it hinder me from staying there again, they were apologetic.
