Good hotel and value, but a bit farGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"great potential, could do with some minor tweaks"
Lovely design, comfortable beds, value for money, but maintenance backlog needs to be addressed and reception smartened up (messy desk, unprofessional and receptionist was chewing gum). Toilet seat and sink and overhead shower needed fixing, no towel rail anywhere, in corridors light bulbs need replacing etc. But location is close to Champs Elysees, […] quiet location, I love the quirky design. With more attention to detail this can be a really good quality hotel. Now it is simply good enough Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
wonderful hotel with very friendly staff and a location away from the busy traffic, but close enough to walk around Paris if you wish or there is a metro station near by. Beware the rabbit though and approach with caution.
J'y reviendrai certainement. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Didn't quite stand up to hype"

We arrived at the hotel and the receptionist said he was expecting one person. I showed him the booking and he seemed annoyed and told us we could pay for breakfast, at an additional cost of 17 euro pp. I said i was sure we had breakfast included. When we got to the room, it was apparent that they had tried to squeeze us in a single room, despite us paying for the top double (superior room). After taking my booking down and arguing for a while about the breakfast (clearly stated as included on the form) and the fact that it definitely wasnt a double, he said there was nothing he could do and there were no rooms. Eventually he said they had room 1, the (now fabled after reading reviews) room off the lobby. In fairness, the room was a lot larger, and we didnt hear much noise from the reception. The breakfast was also very good. The wet room shower however points towards the bathroom door and leaks into the bedroom, and a good deal of light shines through from the lobby. I would stay in the hotel again if the room was different, but I found the reception staff pretty rude and would want a different room away from the lobby, plus an honest admittance to issuing the wrong room. These things happen, but dont try to fob us off with a single room at half the price and not even offer a discount.
"Looks great, but let down by the details"

It is a value for money hotel, looks really nice, and quiet location close to Champs Elysees. Would recommend considering the price, but can be so much better. The detail let them down: receptionist chewing gum rather unprofessionally, messy reception desk, unprofessional check-out, the lift is really, really small, bedrooms have quirks: room 64 door to room really jams, sink leaks, only 2 normal and 2 trouser-hangers, sloping ceiling unpleasant, hooks not stuck on straight, no towel rail. Superior room on 3rd floor much better (room 34 'playing card room'): sink plug stuck down permanently, rain shower squirts literally everywhere (holes need cleaning out), toilet seat needs fixing down, nowhere to hang up your towels (!). Also in the corridors some lights need replacing. The hotel has been open 8 months and these things should all work still or by now. But do not let this put you off. If the hotel fixes the maintenance back-log and professionalise reception,it will be a superb hotel
"Splendor was splendid!"

Very nice, small, cosy and peaceful hotel at a good location near many metro stations (we used Monceau) and beautiful Park Monceau. Easily accessed from the airport by train and metro. All rooms different and uniquely decorated, the magical theme ran throughout the hotel. If you like walking, you can easily walk to Champs Elysee and Arc de Triomphe. Grocery shops, cafes and bars nearby. Good value for the money, highly recommended!
"Quaint but clean"

This hotel was in a fairly good location. A short walk to the Monceau Gardens and all the main attractions. There were two stores outside the hotel which sold pretty much anything you wanted. The hotel itself was small, the rooms a fair size and the facilities were pretty standard - WIFI, coffee machine, toiletries, hairdryer etc. The elevator was the tiniest I've ever seen! The staff were friendly and the rooms were lovely and clean. A good price for a decent hotel overall :)
"Could be better..."

I will start by stating the obvious: staying in Paris is extremely expensive and most of the hotel rooms (excluding 5star hotels probably...) are sooooo small. Given that, I would say that Splendor offers relatively good value for money. It is located conveniently and in a "real life" Paris neighbourhood. We were privileged to get a room on the top floor, however even in that room, you had to manage your way around the bathroom so as to avoid personal accidents...The room was clean, however, the overall service was lacking some details that are taken for granted: a broken glass was replaced after we mentioned it 2 days in a row, shampoos were left whenever they remembered (however they were willingly providing in the reception) and cable TV was not operating (not that we cared, I just mention it). There were some obvious communication gaps between the various persons sitting in the reception, again I must emphasize on the good intentions. Finally, we asked them to arrange a taxi to take us to the airport- they did so without mentioning that the taxi was actually a personal driver. I believe we should have been given the option. He arrived 20 mins late (we got extremely stressed of not getting there on time) but he was polite and he gave us a receipt for the fare that the hotel told us that we would pay

What was supposed to be a great romantic weekend get-away turned out in a horrible disappointment for us. We booked a room at this hotel with good expectations since all the reviews were good and we had already stayed in “Montmartre mon amour” which is their sister-hotel and we had such a lovely time there! Upon arrival we were informed (by a very rude receptionist who didn’t even bother to stop eating while helping us… but oh well) that the only room available was the room next to the lobby. We frowned because the door to the room was actually IN the lobby, which is not exactly what you would expect. But oh well, the receptionist said it was a big room and very good so after a bit of protest we decided to make the best of it and take the room. So we entered the room. It was indeed a nice room. But after two minutes inside we soon discovered that we had been ripped off horribly. We could hear the phone of the reception ring like it was in our room itself, follow every word the receptionist said on the phone, hear the elevator open and close, hear the people entering and speaking tot the receptionist even hear the receptionist walk around in her high heeled shoes and so on and so on. It was horrible! And this is not an exaggeration! So we went back to the (still very rude) receptionist and filed a complaint. We told her we wanted another room because this was not at all what we paid for. If you pay 50 euro for a night you can expect this kind of things, but for 140 euro a night, no way! After making up a bunch of clearly untrue reasons why, she simply answered us that the amount was already taken from our credit card so we had no choice!! So then we tried negotiating the price but again the answer: no we have already taken a 140 euros from your credit card so we can’t pay you back. The only thing she could offer us was a free breakfast which meant nothing to us because we had planned a romantic breakfast in Paris, not a breakfast in the basement of the hotel we stayed in! After a terrible night of sleep we went to check out and were then given the bill to pay! So again it was clear she had also lied about why she couldn’t do anything about the price. We left it as it was, not wanting it to ruin our romantic get-away any further and went into to city only to return home after a few hours because we were to exhausted from the lack off sleep that night… I’m sure the hotel is a great hotel (except for the incredibly rude blonde receptionist, all the others were very friendly), the location is great (close to metro, nice neighborhood), but make sure you never end up in room 1. Because that is NOT a hotel room.
"Fabulous stay, ridiculous service"

Myself and my partner choose splendor for our short stay in Paris, location was brilliant and the rooms were fab! All in all I had a great stay, until I came home, I was hounded my calls and voicemails 4 weeks after my stay, looking for more money that we had already paid. The receptionist demanded we give authorisation to take money from our card, even though we had already paid the full amount. When we checked out of the hotel we were charged an extra 60euro charge for taxes that we were never told about prior to our stay here. We flew into the Beauvus airport and the receptionist told us the only way to get there was by taxi that would cost 170€ I then found out myself there was coaches near by that coat 15€ to bring us straight to the airport. I was very annoyed with the payment issue and the help from the receptionist wasn't great. Would not stay here again.
"Very clean, good service and very comfortable"
Overall I was pleased with my husbands choice of hotel, however there are things that I would change. On the positive side of things the bed was very very comfy, others have said that the beds are small but my husband is 6 foot 3 and we both slept comfortably. The shower is a really good shower, but I was disappointed not to have a bath. Upon arriving at the hotel we were directed to our room, the receptionist was always helpful and went out of his way to answer our questions and help us with forgotten luggage! We arrived late on the first day and they didn't mind us bringing take away food into the room. There are things I would have changed though. The room is comfortable and clean but the decor isn't to my taste, personally I found it tacky and would have preferred some more classic french touches. The only channel showing in English was BBC news, this normally wouldn't bother me but being pregnant I found paris quite tiring and wasn't up for going out at night, so we watched a lot of news! No information sheets in the room about the hotel, or pens etc, but that's just something minor. If you can figure out the metro system the river seine is about 10-15 mins away, it really is a good location. It took about an hour on the train/metro to get here from the airport, but this was by far cheaper than taxis. Overall I am happy with the hotel, and would recommend it to others.
We were there for several days, as a vacation. Hotel is located perfectly to explore and visit the city for certain period of time. Everything is almost on walking distance. Rooms are comfortable, and hotel has the story, with all this magical parts etc
"Magic theme. Recently opened in October 2013"

The hotel hadn't been opened very long - probably one month when I stayed there. The rooms are clean, the quality of the linens very good ! I was told that the owner is a woman. You could tell that she paid special attention to the quality of the prestations. There is a Nespresso coffee maker in the room for coffee in the morning, a small mini bar (not free but not extremely expensive either). The rooms are not huge but they are nicely done. The bathroom is great, the shower is big and great ! There is also a real hair dryer in the room, versus one of those hose hair dryers that blow a puff of air. There is also a plug in the bathroom to plug in the hair dryer (a bit rare here in France). I stayed in room 22 which was in the front of the hotel on the street side. The glass in the windows are double vitrage (double paned) I couldn't hear any noise at all. There is a small epicerie (grocery store), just across the street from the hotel, which stays open late. Here you can find anything you need, fruit, cheese, drinks. The hotel is located within a 15 min walk from the Arch de Triomph..or there are a few metros closer to the hotel. I chose to walk versus taking the metro most of the time. The elevator is very small, even for French standards. I am not a big person..so it was me and my small weekend bag that fit inside the elevator. Maybe one more person could have fit but we would have been very good friends when we left the elevator :). The computer in the lobby is a MAC. - very nice ! The breakfast was 18 Euros, I chose to walk to a nearby cafe and have a coffee and a baguette with butter and jam for 5 Euros. Here's where the grocery store across the street comes in handy. The price I got was 135, 00 Euros per night via Booking.com. All in all, it was worth the price.
