I have stayed three times at this hotel. Holiday in express is what it is. Mystery omlets and sausage gravy for breakfast. The norm. The only complaint is getting in and out of the place. This of course is not the hotels fault. However I am pretty sure PA invented the U-Turn. Although I will stay again if in the area.

The room was decent. Nothing special. But the bathroom smelled very strongly of smoke. We did have a non-smoking room. The front desk just gave us spray to cover the smell. They did offer to ozone the room but never went through with it. The breakfast was also decent.

The positives first: 1.) The staff was very friendly. 2.) There were no bed bugs.3.) The breakfast was good with reasonable hours. 4.) The room was clean and the maid staff was very attentive. The not so positives. 1.) This Hotel is super over priced. Nothing about this property justified the price we paid per night. 2.) The hallway stank of ciggarette […] smoke. 3.) The access to the property is horrible. whomever put this hotel where it is with out proper access should be fired. 4.) The work out room was a joke. 5.) There is no pool. 6.) The back patio did not have key access to the door so you had to prop open the door to avoid having to walk around the entire buiding to regain entry. Over all we choose this property because we were attending a funeral and had no time to research other options. The vast majority of alternatives had really bad reviews and many talked of bed bugs. This was the main reason we choose this property. If you are passing through it would pay to visit other locations to determine if the rooms are as bad as some of the reviews indicate before you get bent over and pay $xxx.xx a night at this hotel. The hotel is only accessible from one direction of the highway, so we spent a lot of time doing U-turns during our stay. The other option was to try to cross 5 lanes of traffic on the on/off ramp of the turnpike to a little access road to the hotel. Also, the climate control seemed a little funky. The rooms had an off smell, and never seemed to dry […] out with the A/C running. We had been swimming (elsewhere) and hung our towels to dry over hangers and in the bathroom, and they still were pretty much just as wet when we packed to leave 36 hours later. The bed was clean and confortable. The plug in the tub worked, but the soap left a white film on me and me rings...had to use the shampoo to resuds myself. Major problem with the room phone. In several of the rooms, including mine, the phone would ring twice, but no one was on the other end. My room was so damp, my socks were wet from walking on the floor. I would have used the towels to dry them off, but I was scared away by the sign that threatened to charge $15 for a lost or stolen hand towel. Also, this place is nearly impossible to find at night.

Hotel was a little tricky to locate at first as it's set back off of rt 30 and the access road appears to be the on ramp for the turnpike. That said, it was a very convient stop while traveling on the turnpike. Staff was friendly, and the property was clean and well maintained.

this location was not as up to date as many other holiday inn express locations, especially the rooms, though it was clean and the people were friendly. there are restaurants nearby (as well as the turnpike) which is convenient as well.

The hotel is just fine for a quick visit to Pittsburgh from the east. A bit farther out than Monroeville and slightly harder to find get to from the TPK, but worth it for the lower rates. Nothing within walking distance unless you feel like hiking up and down hills (as is typical for a lot of Pittsburgh's suburbs). Very clean basic room, just about […] what you'd expect from Holiday Inn Express. Bed wasn't the most comfy but serviceable for one night. Didn't try the breakfast but it looked very basic. The hotel and staff was great and the rooms are kept very clean. They had tons of cable channels to pick from more then i have ever seen from any other hotel. Microwave and mini fridge was also in the room The hotel just a short drive from a number of shops and restaurants. The only down side of it was finding the entrance because its not marked. You […] will see the hotel's sign but its far from the entrance and might end up shooting back on the turn pike before you notice it since it right next to it. Leaving the hotel can be a pain as you have to pass right in front of the turnpike exit and you can only go one way so you have to pass 2 stoplights before you can make a u-turn and go the other way unless you turn in to the nearby gas station. There was also some construction going in the lot next to the hotel but nothing running in to the night and looks like it would be complete soon as well. Read more

The Hotel itself, and all amenities were fine. However, getting off the PA turnpike trying to find this hotel was extremely difficult. GPS directed me to a Kohl's parking lot. Even the hotel employees note their parking lot is a bermuda triangle. They SHARE a ramp with the PA turnpike coming from the other way.

We thought the physical comfort and condition of the hotel was fine, but the male check-in clerk had a bad attitude. He was condescending when we asked about the availabilty of a certain cable station (he also said the hotel did not have it when the hotel did) and made a big show of "checking to see if the rooms were ready" by walking in a sideroom, […] rolling his eyes, laughing with a colleague and then coming back to report that they did and acting like he was doing us a big favor. We arrived to what looked like a brand new hotel and expected to be pleased. However, I've never been in a room where you could hear everything going on in every room on the floor. We weren't anywhere near the ice machine, and knew when it was in use. All of the doors closed by pressure closers which caused a slam unless controlled. Someone across the […] hallway went in and out of their room every 30 seconds (I'm not exaggerating) for at least an hour, beginning at 11pm. Control was not part of this process. Their neighbors then came in after an outing and kept it up for another half an hour, with loud conversations added in. A complaint to the front desk resulted in a surprised acknowledgement of the noise levels, but reassurement that "things should calm down soon." The front desk also seemed to look down on the fact that I'd used Hotels.com to book the room. He kind of sneered at me. I've used Hotels.com to book at various 4-5 star hotels in the past, and never had this response before. Given the awful night and the awful bed, I was really kind of nonplussed by his attitude. I paid way too much for this room to have this type greeting, extraordinary noise level, and a lumpy marshmallow for a bed. I'll never stay at a Holiday Inn Express again. Read more

The entrance to this hotel is located next to the entrance to the turnpike and can only be accessed from one side of the road. This means that you have to drive past it and make a u-turn if you're approaching from the opposite direction. The road is under construction, adding more difficulty to the process. A Wal-Mart is being built on the hill beside […] the hotel, and construction goes on day and night. The machinery can be heard at all times. When we were leaving, the construction workers were burning a pile of debris; it rained ash on us as we loaded our car. For average amenities and typical service, it was not worth the inconveniences caused by construction. Read more
