"Nice hotel with thin walls"
I've stayed here many times over the years while visiting my 3 sons, all of whom attended Wesleyan University. Overall I like this hotel with it's large indoor pool and spa. Tub leaked. Had to ask them to move me after they recaulked during my visit. Kitchen closed at 10 - arrived at 10:30 pm and therefore no dinner :( not even a cold sandwhich. First of all, upon arrival we were informed there were no rooms available after booking a week or more in advance. Then they found a handicapped accessible room which I wouldn't consider 'handicapped accessible' if someone really needed the facilities.The upkeep of the hotel was not at its best...broken security door lock, holes in the walls, broken […] trim boards, room telephone buttons didn't work well and when they did the front desk didn't answer 3 times in a row, hotel management did not keep noise under control, very small elevators that felt very unsafe, no fans in the bathrooms, no local information in the room guest information book, parking was hard to find and had to walk quite a distance, no tissues, trash was not emptied on a day-to-day basis.... On my first night, I was assigned a room on the first floor with a glass door to the parking lot. When the trucks started going by at 5:45AM only 20 feet from my bed, I knew I couldn't stay there another night. "Poor service and no attention to needs."
Although overall the hotel was adequate, we had a list of frustrating grievances: 1) no water or towels in the fitness center and three requests for restocking yielded no results; 2) equipment in fitness center was in poor condition and remained so throughout the stay; 3) we requested a roll away bed which was not included on our reservation. And although […] we repeated the request at check in, the bed was still not delivered when we returned to the hotel late at night, making us wait to go to bed for the evening; 4) Room was not stocked with sufficient number of towels. Three requests on our first morning yielded no response. We finally just went down the hall and took them from the housekeeping staff who apparently were never advised of our problem; 5) pool area had no stock of towels on our first time there, and only a few when we returned the next day. The power cuts and bad weather had a negative effect on this hotel - I guess it was short on staff. The place could have been a very acceptable hotelunder any other circumstances. The rooms were assigned to guests late adn after hours of waiting, the hotel was crowded and there was not hot water in the morning, the corridors were noisy with kids running […] up and down, the bar was packed (people waiting for their rooms) and we ended up drinking 3 pints before being served dinner...I guess that was a positive effect after all. "Nice hotel with a heart less manager"
Hotels.com displayed room is for 3 (2 beds) and breakfast buffet included and we thought breakfast for 3. But hotel/property policy was for 2. A heartless manager declined to give breakfast coupon to my 6 years old kid though he said "Daddy no breakfast for me?" He said it is hotels.com's problem and I have to call them and take up the matter with them. […] Oh Lord, a $10 breakfast and manager has no authority to override this? I have a business with 53 people and I know what customer service is and this gentleman was doing his job but in a unprofessional way, maybe he forgot he was in hospitality business and sometime overriding $10 may bring in more business. Thanks to hotels.com CS who resolved this issues by calling the property. Front desk rep at night was able to resolve with hotels.com but a day time manager declined. "Clean Hotel & Family/Business Oriented"
This is a great place to take your family, or to have a corporate meeting. The pool area is outstanding, and if you request it early enough, you can get a late check out. I frequent Cromwell often while traveling on business for my ebay store. Rooms are immaculate, staff is always pleasant, nice, and courtesy too me. Pool is gorgeous, jacuzzi perfect. They even have a shuttle and I got my nails and toes done. Shuttle driver was extremely nice. When checking in its usually with Libby who goes above and beyond With her customer service and pleasant demeanor. I will never cheat on Crowne Plaza with any hotel in area. Ten stars. "Comfortable, but out of date"

Recently stayed at this hotel as part of a meeting. The conference facilities were adequate, but the hotel had a very awkward layout for conference space and lobby. It had odd little display cases of Easter and other events even though it was August during my time of stay. The business center was very functional, so I could print out my materials easily with their new computers/printer. The room was spacious, but you walk nearly a mile (ok a bit of an exaggeration) if you are on the third floor to go around to rooms in the upper 300's. The bathroom was 60's pink and felt a little unclean. The carpet was in need of updating. I would probably not stay here again. It's a bit of a drive from Hartford, so don't be fooled by location.

My family arrived at this Hotel last week regarding a Karate Seminar and everything was good until later on that evening. We went to the pool with the kids and when we went back to our room there was "ants" on our night table and around our window. Called the front desk to advise, but nobody showed up. I had to purchase a can of "Off" and sprayed the table and around the windows. The air condition wasn't working correctly neither and was extremely warm to sleep. Then, we called the hotel for a "wake up call" , talk to Karen at the front desk , and unfortunately, we didn't receive the call in the morning and was almost late for the seminar.

Checked in Sunday, August 10, 2014, and after attending a Conference meet and great, go to my room and the AC was not cooling quiet cool enough. I called the front dest, and then the service technican came up and fixed it in no time flat. Very courteous and professional. His name, I believe, was Bob. After a great day in a conference here, the entire staff here are just like Bob, the very best ! I recommend the Crowne Plaza to any body on vacation, passing through, or having a meeting or conference. The food is fantastic and facilities, gym, pool, etc. are greate.

This Hotel is absolutely Beautiful. My family and I stayed overnight after six flags. The staff greeted us with a smile and were ready to help check us in. The rooms were nice and clean. The kids were able to enjoy the pool and had a great time the next morning. I would definitely recommend staying there.

I would like to start by saying this was an excellent hotel. I am a Project Manager of a large construction company.Therefore, I have been staying in and out of Hotels for years.My time can range from a day or 2, to months at a time.With that said I have been staying at the Crown Plaza hotel in Hartford-Cromwell CT for a few months now. I have had a great overall experience with the Crown Plaza in Cromwell Ct. From the start of my stay checking in late in the evening to the morning I left the service has been Excellent. I tend to work long days, waking up at 4 am working till 7-8 pm on most days. With work days like these in hot, humid weather the days tends to lead to soreness and aggravation. Especially when you are running several projects at a time in different states, moving from hotel to hotel. Hence the reason I would like to thank a few of the staff members working at the Crown Plaza Hotel in CT.I want to start by thanking the cleaning staff who had my room nice and clean and kept cold with AC set to my personal preference. I'd also like to thank the very friendly and accommodating staff at the front desk, you guys where great. However, the Best part of my days, while staying at the Crown Plaza had to be hanging out and relaxing in the Concierge lounge on the 4th Floor. After long stressful days all I would look forward too is lounging in Concierge sipping on a drink and speaking with a very polite,outgoing, very professional women named Marian. I have to say being that I travel a lot and talk to many different people as well as run many big projects. Part of my job is hiring and firing employees for my company as well as other companies I have been in charge of. So, I can usually pin point who's a good worker and who is not. Therefore, I am writing you this letter to let you know that the Marian is a extraordinary worker, who would go out of her way to make your day better and assist you in any way she could. Not only because it is part of her job, but would go the extra mile to put a smile on each guests face just because that's the type of employee "she" is. Not only was she a delight to talk to but she seem to care about all the guests questions and concerns equally. I would not only re-visit the Crown Plaza in Cromwell CT, I'd be proud to recommend this Hotel to family and friends. And I would be sure to recommend a visit to the Concierge Lounge for great hospitality and food. I feel like people like Marian, who are so dedicated to their jobs are rare assets in companies these days. And to have a employee on staff that has the companies interest in mind, is a prime reason for their success. Her presents alone at this hotel would have my company and my self coming back to this hotel again. Thank you all for a great experience and Marian especially for being a pleasure to hang out with and for making my stay feel more like HOME.

We booked this trip through a groupon.. the price was perfect for this hotel.. its not worth more than a $100.00.. The rooms need to be updated.. nothing broken just old.. the bed was hard as a rock..but i can say it was a very clean place and i like clean.. i even looked at the lamps.. and they were clean..we booked this so we can relax at the pool and just get away from the city.. it was perfect..

The hotel was clean and the staff was friendly. All the usual amenities but I wish they took better care of the outside and I wish there was more of a comfortable atmosphere and a place to sit outside. The weather was beautiful and rather than spending time sitting in the hotel room it would have been nice if there was an outdoor area with seating. The only available seating was a bench near the smoking area.

We stayed here last year while attending a two day championship swim meet, and it was comparable to the Marriott down the road, where we'd stayed before. Our room this year, for three nights, is tired. The bathroom is tiny, and Im 5' 5". Standing in the shower I can flat-hand the ceiling. No fan, and barely enough room to close the door before you use the toilet. The sleeping area was damp. Bedding, our clothes, the rug. We had the AC checked, and while our room was cool, sometimes cold, everything in it was clammy. Gross. The front desk staff was polite, but... Example: I needed a burger re-heated and went to the desk where they have a microwave. I waited 6 min for the desk person to end their call with a prospective customer... Then, he told me to walk over to their restaurant and ask for a plate, adding, "if they give you a hard time, have them call me at the desk." As I walked back to my room, running my free hand along the ceiling of the hall, I vowed not to stay here again.
"Time for an update"
The hotel is clean and the staff is friendly and helpful but the hotel physical plant needs to be upgraded. In the room I was in the bathroom was old (pink tile, pink toilet). The bed and linens were clean and comfortable. The room was quiet even though the hotel was full. Food in the restaurant is okay. There are not a lot of hotel options in this area. I would rather have clean and quiet than the most modern. Having said that, I still think Crowne Plaza could use some updating.
