We enjoyed the hotel and pool and were pleasantly surprised by the very nice breakfast and the excellent coffee...which was a bonus! Bed was pretty comfortable, but sheets could be a little softer. Other reviewers very nicely pointed out the air traffic AND that it does cease after a certain time. We did not find it to be problematic at all.

Full breakfast is included which is a nice departure from the usual "continental" fare. A bit noisy in the morning with planes leaving from OC airport starting at 7 AM, but otherwise fairly quiet.

A very nice hotel. Access is a little difficult due to a one way street in front of the hotel and John Wayne Airport could be a problem for day sleepers. Over all we really enjoyed our stay and would use Ayres Hotel-Suites again.

This is such a beautiful hotel with a Victorian flare. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable. The restaurant food was excellant, and the service even better! We had the free breakfast buffet which was also very good and sat out in the beautiful courtyard. Then we were provided free shuttle transportation to the airport which was only a 5 minute […] ride. You would think that being so close to the airport would be loud from the planes, but it was very quiet in the rooms. We also discovered on the flight out of John Wayne Airport that Newport has a sound ordinance and the planes must climb a steep 1000 feet upon take-off and cannot engage in full speed until they reach the ocean. This place is beautiful and clean. They have the crispiest sheets and the fluffiest pillows. Most of all I was impressed with the staff. Each person I encountered had a "I'm glad you're here, what more can I do for you?" attitude. This hotel should be proud of their people.

My buddy and I stayed here before our OC Marathon. It starts so early that we decided to stay here instead of risking a crying baby night with our families then driving 45 minutes to get to our race. The hotel itself is great. But it wasn't very accomodating to most runners who showed up that day without calling ahead for shuttle information (probably […] our fault). The race didn't start until 5:30AM. So I thought the hotel could do a continuous courtesy shuttle to drop us off at the start (5 miles away) or the marathon shuttle pickup (1.5 miles away). But it was all fully booked and no offer on a ride back from the finish line (1.5 miles away). Also no late checkout was offered. Not even for 1 additional hour. So we ended walking to the event and back. I gave 4 stars on location since you can only exit 1 way out of the hotel. I gave 4 stars overall because we also got a King Bed room with pullout sofa instead of the 2 queen beds we booked online (not sure who is at fault with this). The hot tub would have been nice (but couldn't use it because no late checkout). I wasn't expecting a red carpet, but a little helping hand would have made it awsome. Location of the hotel, close to airport, and highways, very convenient. The hotel was really pretty, the courtyards were so nice, especially to sit and have coffee in the morning. There are gas stations on two corners and other quick stop places surrounding the hotel, so you can gas in your rental before going to the airport, or you can walk over to get a snack at night. Front desk staff were friendly and assisted me with checking in early. The business center was quiet and private, I was able to get my work done. Though we enjoyed the room, the bath backed up during our first night at the hotel. The next day we found the bath with a black substance that filled it by a few inches. We were unable to shower, and get on with our day. Our morning plans were ruined and we had to call to have the tub fixed. We did not want to be bothered with changing rooms but after […] the maintenance man was unable to fix the problem we had to change rooms. We asked for compensation for the inconvenience, a free meal in the restaurant, and we were told that “that would be too much”--by both the front office and the manager. the people were very nice there from the housekeepers to the restaurant personnel to the desk assistants. The hotel itself is amazingly beautiful with genuine antiques, furniture and paintings from all over the world that the owners, the Ayers, purchased for their hotels. The main room of the lobby was stunning and inviting with a fireplace always going, […] luxurious couches and chairs and separate sitting areas for reading or private conversations, etc. VERY NICE! The suites are roomy and super clean. The bed was fabulous - very comfortable. The swimming pool is very nice and the hot tub is just right. The breakfasts were quite good and you had a very large selection to choose from. We were surprised by how close it was to the airport and you could just about see the people in in the windows because you are right next to the outgoing flight path; but after a very short time you don't even notice them and they do stop flying out about 10pm and don't start until about 7am so that wasn't so bad. It wasn't close to Disneyland at all - about 25 minutes away - but that wasn't all THAT bad. Access is a little frustrating because you can only - ONLY - make a right turn onto the one street there is access to and have to go WAY down, over the freeway and onto the northbound ramp to get back to the street the hotel is on but going in the other direction towards the restaurants and other main street going to Newport beach. I loved everything about the hotel,excellent breakfast,nice pools, Bar and restaurant,free parking. Quiet courtyards to read or talk, or just have a cocktail. Nice room, great price. The only draw back was the noise from the airplanes from John Wayne or else I would have given it 5 stars, but it wasn't so bad that I would not go back.

A sophisticated hotel just a few miles from Newport Beach, the service is superb. Convenient to Newport Beach, Costa Mesa, and Orange County Airport. The ammenities are first class at a reasonable price. Great breakfast buffet in a charming location (pub with a couryard). For the location, can't be beat.

This is a wonderful little hotel that is very convenient to all of Newport Beach and Disneyland. Very clean with a wonderful breakfast. They even have laundry facilities, a pool and spa. Everyone was very friendly. the hotel has really nice photos of Newport Harbor before it was developed as well as nice artwork. Enjoy.

This hotel was well priced, conveniently located, and clean. The front desk personnel were very friendly. I did not have the opportunity to take advantage of their breakfast buffet event even though I had a four night stay. My room was always clean and I did appreciate the double sinks.
