"Just say no to the "Bistro""
The hotel was convenient especially for a weekend stay. It is located not too far from the metro. You can walk, drive and park or take their shuttle. I would only say stay away from their overpriced, low quality Bistro. First, I ordered a lemon drop martini. Anyone who loves martinis knows they are mostly alcohol. My martini was mostly juice. Not worth […] it for $10. The bartender is not a real bartender, using the little silver measuring cup for each drink. Just pour! Sheesh. We were going to have breakfast there the next morning but there was quite a line for food that is NOT FRESH! Don't let them trick you. We drove about ten minutes into town for a delightful breakfast at Firelflies. You're better off going there. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel met expectations! Overall service was good. Chris was excellent. Complementary shuttle to the Metro station was excellent, though they request you wait to call for pickup when you get off the train. we stood in the cold for 20 minutes waiting for pickup. Overall, a good stay, though.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Difficult to find"
We loved the hotel, but had a hard time finding it. When I called to ask for directions, I was put on hold. I stayed on hold for 25 minutes and nobody ever came back to me. I finally hung up after we found the hotel ourselves. When I got there, I found one lone worker behind the desk doing nothing. I told her I was still on hold and she looked at the […] phone baffled. I was not happy. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Service but minor issues"
Location was very convenient next to lots of restaurants and the AMC Theatre. Front desk staff was clean cut and mannered. Always pleasant to work with. My only complaint is that the housekeeping didn't always take the trash or wipe down surfaces. The water flow force was very low. Difficult to do things like wash your face and brush your teeth. But […] we managed. Knowing these minor issues I will stay here again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Way to expensive for the location"
Way to expensive for the location, I wouldn't call this old town. The only thing in old town that is within walking distance is the Masonic Temple. I could have booked this same hotel three weeks earlier for almost 1/3 the price I paid. However it is a nice hotel and the water pressure in the shower was the best ever. And at least they didn't charge […] me extra for internet and parking my car in the hotels lot. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Nice room- however, the room had an interesting smell to it. Apparently the cleaners that are sprayed do not smell the best. You only notice the smell when you first walk in. Once in the room you really do not notice it. Unfortunately, they do not have a refrigerator in the room or a swimming pool/hot tub.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Close to metro station."
We chose this hotel because of its location and we were not disappointed with its convenience. Even when it was pouring rain, the hotel offered a quick shuttle to and from the metro station. Staff was very helpful and accommodating when we had a problem with our room toilet. Bed was comfortable, and clean but the room smelled mildewy and old. Great […] having the little bistro in the lobby too. I would stay here again, but would change rooms if we have the same concerns as this past trip. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Our room had a damp odor and the TV was located on the side of the bed. My neck got sore turning towards it...turned it off. I tried to get a good night's sleep despite the smell. There was no complimentary coffee in the lobby.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Courtyard by Marriott Alexandria Old Town/Southwest Thank you for your feedback. Please let us know the next time you experience an odor issue and we will do our best to relocate your room. We are aware of the odor, which is randomly happening. We are working with our engineering team and housekeeping team to rectify the situation asap!
"Business in the Area"
Excellent accommodations and location. The employees were very courteous and helpful. We were just minutes from our meeting location. The "Bistro" located in the building was very convenient. Didn't have to leave the building for breakfast and dinner. We had everything we needed for our stay in one location.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Perfect for me"
Whenever I visit DC I stay here at this hotel. I travel alone, but feel very safe here. It is walking distant to the Eisenhower metro station, but the hotel also has a shuttle to and from the station. The staff is always friendly and helpful.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Not overly impressed"
It's a nice property, in a convenient location. However: (1) the parking spaces are so narrow it is almost impossible to get in and out of your car (2) the cable TV in my room wasn't working properly - no apology when I reported it (3) no free coffee in the lobby (4) no complementary breakfast (5) no microwave in the room. The front desk staff wasn't […] very friendly. There are several other properties in the immediate area - I'll go to one of them next time. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Courtyard by Marriott Alexandria Old Town/Southwest Chuck, I am so sorry that we did not meet your expectations... or ours! It sounds like we really dropped the ball all over the place. We've had a rash of complaints regarding the cable recently so we are in the process of figuring out what the issue is! We should have certainly offered you an apology! As for the coffee and breakfast, we do offer our Bistro and Starbucks Coffee for both Breakfast and Dinner. Finally, we do offer microwaves - they are just upon request. We hope you'll give us another shot!
"Not worth more than 100$"
The hotel is okay but it is not really close to anything other than the freeway. I didnt feel like there was enough parking for the hotel.Genuine Expedia guest review
Response by Courtyard by Marriott Alexandria Old Town/Southwest Hello there! Thank you so much for your feedback regarding your stay. I'm sorry you felt the hotel was far away from the places you wished to go. Our hotel is very near 8 different restaurants and a movie theater. Also, we are just one metro stop away from King Street and many other dinning and shopping destinations. Also, our hotel has a shuttle that will take transport you to the local restaurants, the Metro, the grocery store and convineience store. As for the parking at the hotel, when we are busy it is a full parking lot! We have plenty of parking, however. We also have additional parking just across from the hotel for overnight parking needs.
"Very Poor Customer Service During Flooding Problem"
We planned to stay for six days but checked out after one night. Location is good near movies, restaurants, old town Alexandria but it had had a severe flooding problem four days before. A pipe or sprinkler leak flooded the top 8th floor down to the bottom floor. Half of the hotel was unusable and during the day they had loud industrial fans blowing […] all day in the hallways. They were approved to open the other half of the hotel even with fans and construction people there fixing the damaged rooms and hallways. When we checked in, the woman at the desk told us nothing about any of this and put us in a room next to where the fans were blowing. When we complained, another hotel person put us in a room farther down the hall away and said they would be turned off at 9 or 10PM so people could sleep. At 10PM I called because the fans were still on and was told "they are coming to turn them off right now". So 30 min later they were shut off. Next morning, we had hotels.com call the manager to cancel our stay and he refused. I spoke to the manager and after 15 minutes of arguing he finally agreed with no apology for our stay or the terrible handling of this by his staff. An unforeseen accident like this is understandable, but poor handling of it by managers and staff is not. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Courtyard by Marriott Alexandria Old Town/Southwest I truly thank you for your feedback. We shut down 57% of our hotel so that our guests would be minimally impacted. The rooms that were occupied by guests were at the opposite end of the building from the affected areas and there was no equipment in this area. Due to the severity of the flooding it was imperative that the equipment be operational a large portion of the day. At the hotel's expense we agreed with our guests that the equipment should be turned off nightly. We began shutting fans of around 9pm. This was not a quick process; it took some time to turn the equipment off due to the extent of the drying process. The drying process took nearly 2 weeks. This was a direct result of our choice to turn off the equipment at night. Unfortunately, we could not repair the corridors until the drying process was completed, leaving much to be desired. Finally, I personally spoke to Expedia and the agent did not state that you had an issue with the fans or the hotels appearance. The information I received was that you wanted to check out. When I asked the reason he stated “I understand you had a flood”. He did not say you had any particular issues. When you came to the desk we spoke for a short period of time regarding the issues you had and I agreed to check you out with no penalty. I clearly remember apologizing for the issues and you thanked me for allowing you to check out. The situation was certainly not a favorable one and I’m sorry that we could not have provided you with a better experience in a very challenging time.
Overall stay was ok.The parking for guest needs improvement. Room was fair enough. Maintenance repairing a room that flooded had fans going all day and night. Could still hear the noise with door closed and t.v. volume up. Management should not have booked rooms around that area on the fourth floor.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Better options in Alexandria for the price"
Way overpriced at $139 considering there's no breakfast included. Also, the non-smoking room had a very musty, sulfur smell. Internet was spotty.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This was the first time I have been to DC with my girlfriend and this hotel was excellent! We arrived 3 hours before check in and they already had our room ready for us. We got everything that we asked for and the front desk was very helpful and was very easy to talk to. The location is really close to the Metro and they even have a shuttle to drive […] you around to the Metro and a few other places close by. The food at the Bistro was a little on the pricy side but was still quite good. The only thing that happened that lowered my rating for this hotel was that even when we had the sign out not to bother us, the maids still tried to come into the room to clean almost everyday. Aside from that our stay was very comfortable and we will go to this hotel again if we go to DC again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"6 night visit"
I found this hotel to be exactly what I was looking for. The location was great as it was right by a metro station which opens you up to all of DC. Though you can easily walk to the station, they offer a shuttle which takes you to several places locally which also was a big convenience. The drivers and staff were all extremely friendly. If I had any […] complaints at all it would be that there aren't very many food options around (within walking distance that is) but there were many delivery options and a bistro within the hotel. I will definitely stay here again. Thank you! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Good value in Alexandria"
I stayed here for New Years Eve. It is technically close enough to the Eisenhower Metro station to walk, but I probably would have taken my car and parked at the lot (it was New Years Eve, so the lot was free, I think. Otherwise it's $7). Other than that, this is a very nice hotel. Very friendly staff. Room size is average for the area, decor was fresh. […] You have a coffee maker in the room but no fridge. There is a restaurant in the hotel. Parking is free but breakfast isn't. If you want to visit Alexandria or DC but don't want to pay the higher hotel costs (and don't mind a bit of a hike) this would be a good hotel to work from. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

We really enjoyed our stay and the hotel. It was quiet and clean and the bed was a plus for me because I like a firm mattress. I was very pleased. I just wish we had had a sofa in our room instead of a single chair. This is one of my fav hotels because of the classiness, cleanliness of it and the feng shui of the room. This changes the experience for the better. "Some hotel staff were unhelpful - poor cust svc."
At front desk, staff told me that I could not check-in because my name was not on the reservation, even though I made the reservation for us, and paid with *my* credit card, and had the reservation number. Staff repeatedly told me that there was *nothing* he could do. Repeatedly I made suggestions that he *could* do. It made little sense: he said that […] my guest could call him and add my name onto the reservation. Finally, he told me that I could go to a computer and pull-up my reservation and modify it to put my name on it, and come back to him. It was poor customer service that he refused to pull-up the reservation himself. He was too quick to repeatedly tell me what he could not and would not do ... and gave too little help ... no sympathy ... it felt like he did not want us to stay there, and he was trying to create obstacles and discomfort. "Clean, comfortable rooms - no more, no less"
The place was difficult to find and to get to/from during our stay. Make sure you call the hotel to obtain directions- there are some new roads that were not displaying on our GPSs. Fairly close to the metro and a free shuttle bus from the hotel was convenient. Our stay was nice- clean, comfortable rooms- decent mattresses and decent water pressure- […] nothing luxurious. A nice café for breakfast (they also serve dinner, which we did not stay for). The hotel was definitely understaffed during our stay- everyone seemed to be pulling double-duty- but if that's the price for a good deal, that's fine with me. We did obtain all the information we needed, though, regarding the sites in the area we were interested in visiting. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

This hotel is conveniently located just outside of DC. We drove up there and it was easy to get there, free to park and they had shuttle service to the Eisenhower Metro Station as needed. "Good Stay At A Good Rate"
I searched all around the Alexandria area for a hotel near the highway that was affordable, and this was the best price I could find. Parking was free (very rare in the DC area), and the hotel was in very good condition. The room was very comfortable, AC worked great, internet was fast, and the staff brought up a minifridge right away so I could keep […] my medication refrigerated. Also, the hotel is the sponsor of the NFL, so the Thursday Night Game was on and they were giving away small prizes, which was unexpected and fun. Overall a very good stay. Only downsides were, it's pretty tricky to get to the hotel, even though it's right off the highway (blame city planners for that, but, it is still a bit of a pain), and parking was pretty cramped. One last thing, the shower handles were way too complicated, there were three, I guess one was hot, one was cold, and one switched between bath/shower, but it took awhile each morning to get the water temp somewhere in the middle between "scalding" and "freezing." But again, overall it was definitely worth the stay, especially for the price, I bet you'd be hard-pressed to find a more comfortable place for the price and location.
