"Poor Customer Service"
My stay was awful. The manager/service clerk was not friendly and made me feel that I was doing him a favor by staying at his hotel or that I was of lesser value than those patrons who may have booked directly through the hotel. My requests were ignored. I asked to not be next to the stairs; however, my room was right next to the stairs. When I asked […] to be moved, it was treated as if my request was an inconvenience, only for me to finally be moved to a vacant room that was further down the hall away from the stairs. When I was moved from the room next to the stairs, I was placed in a room that had a toilet that ran constantly. I had to once again call the front desk to inquire about the toilet only to be moved yet again. Three rooms one stay. The manager/clerk felt more inconvenienced than I. He had a negative attitude when I was polite and wanted to work with them as opposed to just leaving the hotel and taking my business else where. It doesn't end there. On check out day, the "do not disturb' sign was on my door from the night before. At about 11:10 a.m., I went down stairs to load my car with my things and when I came back to the room, the sign was removed from the door, the sign was placed on the table, and the housekeeper had already removed my bed linen. I made the clerk on duty aware of the incident only to be told that the manager was not on duty at the time and the concern would be delivered to him upon his return. It was not a pleasant stay. The hotel was convenient especially for a weekend stay. It is located not too far from the metro. You can walk, drive and park or take their shuttle. Nice room- however, the room had an interesting smell to it. Apparently the cleaners that are sprayed do not smell the best. You only notice the smell when you first walk in. Excellent accommodations and location. The employees were very courteous and helpful. We were just minutes from our meeting location. The "Bistro" located in the building was very convenient. "Perfect for me"
Whenever I visit DC I stay here at this hotel. I travel alone, but feel very safe here. It is walking distant to the Eisenhower metro station, but the hotel also has a shuttle to and from the station. The staff is always friendly and helpful.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

I'm sorry you felt the hotel was far away from the places you wished to go. Our hotel is very near 8 different restaurants and a movie theater. Also, we are just one metro stop away from King Street and many other dinning and shopping destinations. Also, our hotel has a shuttle that will take transport you to the local restaurants, the Metro, the grocery store and convineience store. As for the parking at the hotel, when we are busy it is a full parking lot! We have plenty of parking, however. We also have additional parking just across from the hotel for overnight parking needs.
"Very Poor Customer Service During Flooding Problem"
We planned to stay for six days but checked out after one night. Location is good near movies, restaurants, old town Alexandria but it had had a severe flooding problem four days before. A pipe or sprinkler leak flooded the top 8th floor down to the bottom floor. Half of the hotel was unusable and during the day they had loud industrial fans blowing […] all day in the hallways. They were approved to open the other half of the hotel even with fans and construction people there fixing the damaged rooms and hallways. When we checked in, the woman at the desk told us nothing about any of this and put us in a room next to where the fans were blowing. When we complained, another hotel person put us in a room farther down the hall away and said they would be turned off at 9 or 10PM so people could sleep. At 10PM I called because the fans were still on and was told "they are coming to turn them off right now". So 30 min later they were shut off. Next morning, we had hotels.com call the manager to cancel our stay and he refused. I spoke to the manager and after 15 minutes of arguing he finally agreed with no apology for our stay or the terrible handling of this by his staff. The rooms that were occupied by guests were at the opposite end of the building from the affected areas and there was no equipment in this area. Due to the severity of the flooding it was imperative that the equipment be operational a large portion of the day. At the hotel's expense we agreed with our guests that the equipment should be turned off nightly. We began shutting fans of around 9pm. This was not a quick process; it took some time to turn the equipment off due to the extent of the drying process. The drying process took nearly 2 weeks. This was a direct result of our choice to turn off the equipment at night. Unfortunately, we could not repair the corridors until the drying process was completed, leaving much to be desired. Finally, I personally spoke to Expedia and the agent did not state that you had an issue with the fans or the hotels appearance. The information I received was that you wanted to check out. When I asked the reason he stated “I understand you had a flood”. He did not say you had any particular issues. When you came to the desk we spoke for a short period of time regarding the issues you had and I agreed to check you out with no penalty. I clearly remember apologizing for the issues and you thanked me for allowing you to check out. The situation was certainly not a favorable one and I’m sorry that we could not have provided you with a better experience in a very challenging time.
Overall stay was ok.The parking for guest needs improvement. Room was fair enough. Maintenance repairing a room that flooded had fans going all day and night. "Better options in Alexandria for the price"

This was the first time I have been to DC with my girlfriend and this hotel was excellent! We arrived 3 hours before check in and they already had our room ready for us. We got everything that we asked for and the front desk was very helpful and was very easy to talk to. The location is really close to the Metro and they even have a shuttle to drive […] you around to the Metro and a few other places close by. The food at the Bistro was a little on the pricy side but was still quite good. The only thing that happened that lowered my rating for this hotel was that even when we had the sign out not to bother us, the maids still tried to come into the room to clean almost everyday. I found this hotel to be exactly what I was looking for. The location was great as it was right by a metro station which opens you up to all of DC. Though you can easily walk to the station, they offer a shuttle which takes you to several places locally which also was a big convenience. The drivers and staff were all extremely friendly. I stayed here for New Years Eve. It is technically close enough to the Eisenhower Metro station to walk, but I probably would have taken my car and parked at the lot (it was New Years Eve, so the lot was free, I think. Otherwise it's $7). Other than that, this is a very nice hotel. Very friendly staff. Room size is average for the area, decor was fresh. […] You have a coffee maker in the room but no fridge. There is a restaurant in the hotel. Parking is free but breakfast isn't. "Room had odor"
