The worst place I have ever tried to stayin! Should we start with the pieces of paper in all the holes in the walls? or the pen sticking in the wall. The fact the carpet not cleaned in years, we had to keep our shoes on at all times! Nothing plugged in, TVlights>alam clock> and no Phone to call desk to complain. Dirt on shower curtain. We had no choice […] but to try to sleep in the fith the first night but did not stay the second night. Between staying up and driving home after family reunion was the only option we had. I was booked for 3 nights and only stayed one. I simply couldn't get past the horrible smell of the place. Very dated, smelled so bad that I couldn't stay. I slept in my car that night and found a different place to stay the rest of my stay in Des Moines.

The bed was pitched like the roof of a house and very uncomfortable to sleep in. The mirror in the room was position right by the door enough where someone could look in the mirror into the whole room with the curtains shut. We had to pull the mirror down so no one could look in. The pictures of the hotel online are very deceiving, this hotel is very out dated and needs a major remodel. We had one of our customers staying with us while we were attending the World Pork Expo at the Iowa State Fairgrounds and he was very dissapointed in the choice of hotel we chose. Everything was booked up within 20 miles of the fairgrounds so […] this was our last resort. We will never stay here again, and will plan to book our rooms 6 months in advance next time so we do not have to put ourselves through an ordeal like this again. Read more

This "hotel" if you want to call it that was disgusting. The furnishings were soiled. It still had an old TV in it. The bed was actually broke on one side and the other side was being held up with a piece of PVC pipe. The sheets had questionable stains on them. Good thing I bring my own disinfectant wipes with me, as I had to clean other people's "business" (both #1 and #2) off the toilet. Had to wipe the bathroom floor as it hadn't been cleaned, either. Scrubbed the tub, just in case. Microwave and fridge didn't work. Carpet hadn't been vacuumed. No knob on shower, so trying to tell hot from cold was very […] difficult without getting scalded. Breakfast was pretty much non-existent. No smoke/fire alarm in room. The worst part, they expected payment for this. If you think that life is supposed to be an adventure, than this place is for you. Yes it was inexpensive, the only thing it had going. The first room ( yes we had more than one) the thermostat had been turned all the way up and the temperature was at least 90 degrees (in February). Also the TV said we were to contact the cable company. We asked for, […] and were given a new room (next door). At least the temp was OK. The manager showed up and we actually got Cable! The place is pretty dated and there were burn holes (as in cigerette) in the blanket and the coverlet. At least 2 lights were burnt out. The toilet paper holder was missing. We did not have to be up early (unfortunately) so we missed out on the hot water. It was quite entertaining to be able to hear everthing said in any room near us too. The mattress was responsible for a visit to my friendly chiropractor (he likes this motel, doesn't want to stay there himself though). But Hey. It was cheap! Read more

I'd never used Hotels.com or stayed at an Econolodge before. Not sure I ever will again. The room looked like it hadnt been updated in 30years. Sheets on bed were worn thin and there was a cigarette burn in them. The bedspread was old and frayed as was the carpet. The oder in the room was strong and not at all pleasant. It took 5 minutes for the hot […] water to warm up. The front curtain would not fully cover the window unless you put a chair up against it. The colors in the room looked like the 70's. The "free" breakfast was not much, a couple of cereals some bread for toast and coffee. Juice machines were empty. The TV and internet both worked fine. Read more

I was very disappointed in my stay here. It started with the overall appearance of the room, which looked like it was in the middle of repairs. The table was slanted at an angle which would not keep anything atop of it and the microwave still held a half eaten danish with plate and spoon. The cable was out for the duration of our stay and there was […] no hot water. That might've been a blessing since the tub would not drain the cold water I added to it. Was not a pleasant stay. First room we had we had no hot water in tub after leaving it running for more than 15 minutes. They moved us to another room but still had to let water run for 15 minutes before getting hot water. The breakfast was two kinds of cold cereal and stale donuts. Will not stay here again and will not recommend to others.

I had to stay in cheap places, because my boss was paying for my hotels while moving cross country. Ok for one night, but wouldn't stay there if it was longer than that.
