"Very good hotel for families"
We stayed at the Red Jacket for 4 days with our 7 year old and it is defiantly a family oriented hotel. Our little one loved the "Kids Club" in the mornings. That kept her busy from 9:30 to 1! (hooray!). Breakfast buffets was not cheap but the food was good and we did not feel it overpriced, the afternoon grill by the pool was VERY handy as you just […] wandered over in your bathing suit and could get excellent burgers, dogs or salads. Pools were very nice, beach a little iffy, fairly heavy vegetation made going in the water somewhat unpleasant, consequently few ventured in the water which was sad. I had to walk out about a half mile to get beyond the seaweed but that was fine as the water was still only 5 feet deep! Lots of stuff to do close by including the great "Pirates Cove" miniature golf. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
The Hotel really needs to be updated...furniture is very old and beat up. The bathrooms were terrible...hair dryer kept falling off the wall...bathtub drain was slow and the condition of the room was poor.Genuine Expedia guest review
"we could relax"
it is nice location, especially private beach. Staff is very educated. But facility is old.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice resort, nice beach, great with food allergies"
Our son has multiple food allergies and the staff were wonderful in checking ingredients. Great beach, nice activities (kids club, tennis, shuffleboard, etc.) We did have an ongoing problem with wireless, but the hotel handled it well. The hotel building itself seems like an old motel that has been refurbished, but despite narrow hallways and smallish […] rooms, they have done a nice job. One odd thing is that there is almost nowhere, not even in the bathroom, to hang wet things. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Red Jacket hotel"
Terrible rooms smelled of must and the staff was lazy and service was poor. Not to mention extremely high priced for what you are getting. The beach was rocky and dirty and looks it has not been cleaned in years. The water was full of sea weed as wellGenuine Hotels.com guest review
It would be nice if it had a gift shop - a place to get snacks, sundries etc.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location but the room quality is poor!"
The hotel is at a great location, we love the beach and pools. BUT the room condition was poor, the beds were slumppy and stains everywhere. The bathrooms smells like urine and has no fan.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great beach front location for families!"
We had a great stay at this Red Jacket Resort. Our ocean view room was a very short walk to the beach. The staff was very nice. The different activities of each day were refreshing and broke up the week. The grounds were beautiful and well maintained.Genuine Expedia guest review
"relaxing family vacation"
Despite the rainy weather the stay was very relaxing. The staff work to make everyone feel welcome and at ease.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The staff at the front desk and the concierge Marge were really friendly and helpful. The rest of the crew of the hotel could have been more attentive and friendly. We had an Oceanfront room, they view was georgeous! few steps from the ocean and the pool. I really like they have heated pools because it was breezy at times. Room was nice but needs update […] a little. Overall, great stay, I would come back. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

You can get good rates off season, if money is tight for you. The Red Jacket South Yarmouth is in the best location on Cape Cod. Right on the ocean, as well as a small inlet, which gets you incredible sunsets. There's a pub on site, indoor & outdoor pool, beautiful grounds. It's quaint as well, as they are the only resort, that I know of, that still uses a real room key! It's right on a very large open beach. It made a great Mothers Day gift for my Mom.

After reviewing so many Cape hotels, I decided on Red Jacket. I am so glad I did. We had stayed at Red Jacket for a family reunion close to 20 years ago. Loved the beach so thought why not try it again for our 25th wedding anniversary. I expected it to be tired and maybe a little run down, after all, it has been around a long time. Yet was pleasantly surprised by the upkeep. If you're looking for all new and shiny, the Cape isn't for you. Sea air can take it's toll on any building. From other reviews, I guess our room had been updated. It was clean, bed was comfortable and great pillows. I wanted a water view and wow, the view was spectacular. We lucked out and got a corner room with ocean and river views. I thought I would have preferred the first floor to just walk out to the beach yet the second floor gave nice privacy on the deck. If we went with friends I would request first floor so access to the other rooms is easier. It was extremely windy during our visit yet the free umbrellas worked well to hide behind. Also having free lounge chairs on the beach was a big plus. The outdoor pool was pleasant, especially having the glass walls to block some of the wind. We didn't eat at the resort so I can not comment on the food. We did have celebratory Bloody Marys from the bar which were fabulous. All of the staff we encountered were very pleasant and professional. Always a hello and smile. Definitely will be back.

I recently visited this resort with my family and could not have been more pleased with our stay. The staff at Red Jacket was welcoming and attentive. My nephews (6 and 4) had a blast and the games / activities offered by the resort were a huge hit. The resort rooms, pool, beach, dining areas, etc. were extremely clean and there was always staff available to us if we needed anything. The manager (Diane) was also a pleasure to deal with and was eager to ensure our stay was enjoyable. I will be visiting next year and I would encourage anyone (with or without children) to visit this resort. Overall, we were very pleased.
"the location and the beach is fine, but"

beside, that we are a family with a ten year old child, our kid had critizised, that there had been to many children in the pool; but at least there is a pool and a wonderful beach. We had a perfect room directly a longside the beach, but there are many rooms with a very limited view. The breakfast was a sweet american horror; sugar in everything, but no normal bread or cheese. For dinner we found a very good sea food restaurant nearby.
"Excellent wedding venue"

My daughter was married on the Cape and had her reception here in September. The entire weekend from start to finish was perfect! Every single staff member greeted us with a smile and was more than happy to answer a question or offer help. Not often do you find this in customer service and I feel that it should be recognized. The place was clean. Food and service for the cocktail hour and reception was fabulous. I highly recommend this resort.
"Would have been rated a 5 if the room was cleaner"

Loved the hotel. Location is in the middle of the Cape with access to either end. First time staying at this hotel. Beautiful room, opened up to the beach, gorgeous hot tub. Breakfast in the restaurant was excellent. Problem was when I returned to the hotel on Saturday. Mirror had not been wiped down, hot tub still had glass marks from the wine the night before. Made me wonder how clean the room really was when I arrived.
"Our Favorite Spot on the Cape"

We have been staying at the RJ for the past 15 years for an Anniversary get away, same week, same ocean front room. We cannot say enough about the RJ, the accommodations, the meals, and especially the staff. The Manager, the staff at the desk, the bartenders, the chefs, the housekeeping staff, the grounds keepers, they are all super people, who seem to love their jobs. It really shows! We feel very special when we stay there, it's like home away from home, so relaxing. We would say it is the best place to stay on the Cape. The grounds are beautiful to look at, the rooms and pool area are kept very clean. Last year for the first time we experienced Kentucky Derby weekend and it was awesome. We plan on making this a yearly custom as well. We just got home and can't wait to go back. Thanks to Tom, the Manager, and his entire staff. They are a credit to the Davenport organization. --Leo & Fran S.
"Great getaway in October."

My wife and I visited the Red Jacket for our 2nd annual visit on Columbus Day weekend. It did not disappoint. We were fortunate enough to get a Oceanfront room, 267, (thank you Diane.) The room was very clean, and the view was superb. The mattress was very comfortable. We booked for 3 nights. We were afforded a $75 resort credit with our stay. With that we took advantage of the the Italian Buffet that was offered in the restaurant on Saturday night, and breakfast the morning we checked out. The buffet consisted of Minestrone soup, salad, Seafood Cannelloni, Chicken Parmesan, Lasagna, Sausage, Peppers, and Onions, Cheese Tortellini, with Alfredo Sauce, Ratatouille, fresh baked rolls, and for desert, Chocolate Cake, and Cheesecake. The food was extremely good. The chicken parmesan, was honestly one of the best that I have had. Our server was very nice. I didn't get her name, but all the staff there that evening were very pleasant. The breakfast buffet consisted of, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, home fries, pastries, danish, muffins, oatmeal, with toppings, pancakes, fresh fruit, yogurt, croissant sandwiches, and cereal. It was very good as well. The grounds were well manicured, spotless. The property is an older one, but it is well maintained. Housekeeping was very attentive to our needs. Upon our return to the room each day the room was very clean. I was also fortunate to once again see, and speak to Patrick, who my wife, and I had spoken with last year during our visit. He remembered us, asking how both of our children were doing. I was pleasantly surprised that he had recalled our initial conversation. The Red Jacket Beach is fortunate to have such a caring, personable, professional staff member. He thanked us once again for choosing the Red Jacket, and hoped to see us next year. He certainly will. In years past we had stayed at budget motels on Route 28 in Yarmouth. They were fine, but after experiencing this property, for the past 2 years, we would not consider anywhere else. The location, you can't beat it. The views of Nantucket Sound spectacular. Once again we were spoiled. Thank you Red Jacket.........

The hotel is in a fabulous location overlooking the Bass River and the Ocean and I had a room with a great view overlooking both. The sunset was spectacular and I got a great picture of it right from my balcony. Breakfast and dinner were great! We had a lobster bake one night and everyone loved it, since I don't eat lobster I ordered the chicken and it was barbequed with a sauce that had cranberries in it, it was amazing, great flavor!

I really enjoyed my time at this resort. I loved the grounds, really pretty. The staff was exceptional day and night. We LOVED the private beach. It's very tranquil at this time of the year when there are less crowds. Rooms are quaint - namely the lack of conveniently placed outlets for cell phone charging - but they have free Wifi and new TVs. The beds are too firm (not pillow top), and the pillows were too fluffy, so I never slept well. I wish I had brought my own pillow. The beds need a revamp. The breakfast was poor - they had stale muffins every day, sour milk one time, and oddly no toast, etc. I anticipated a better breakfast, given that this is a resort. There's no fitness center. They have some elliptical machines and treadmills in a strange location above the indoor pool which is dark and hard to see at night. Seems like an afterthought... Overall, we were impressed with the location and the staff took care of us quite well. We really enjoyed the peacefulness here and would stay here again.
