"Excellent location and close to everything"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
The hotel and staff are wonderful and we will definitely stay there on our next visit to Barcelona! The room was very clean and neat and the daily maid service was exceptional. The front desk staff was very professional and courteous. Wi-Fi in the room was excellent. Walking out of the hotel and looking up at the Cathederal every morning was surreal. Beautiful hotel and wonderful location!

The hotel was clean and neat, the staff very helpful, and the bathroom was great. We also found the price fair and reasonable. The view out of the back of the hotel was not the best- apartment back porches and dirty laundry, so keep the curtains closed.

"Unbelievably Great Service"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
Stayed for a five night family vacation. Our room for three was very nice with a king bed and sofa bed. Efficiency kitchen with dishes and silverware and cookware. Compact refrigerator. Very well located in Eixample neighborhood one block from metro station. Easy walk to many restaurants and the Passieg Gracia or upper part of the Rambla Cataluna. However the BEST was the service of the front desk. Whatever the request they were ceaseless in their efforts to please and accommodate. Information, directions, recommendations for eating and transportation, ticketing. The staff could not do enough for us. This is service that is rare to find in the amenities industry: a true personal touch. My family can heartily recommend the Acacia Suites for a Barcelona vacation. The only negative for some is that it is not located directly on Plaza Cataluna or the Rambla but if you want a quieter neighborhood, with a local feel it is a very nice place.

Barcelona's Old Town, the Ciutat Vella takes in the Barri Gòtic and the world-famous promenade of Las Ramblas. The former is the city's medieval core, a maze of atmospheric alleyways clustered around the splendid Gothic Cathedral. Quirky specialist shops and characterful bars and eateries abound. Don't miss the Museu Picasso and the Museu d'Història de la Ciutat, as much for their palatial settings as their content.

The hotel is beautiful. The conscierge were too busy selling private tours, and initial information they would provide was inaccurate with regards to distances, walking time, however when we came back to the hotel after walking around old town they said, " off course it is a long walk...", the info provided by one staff at the conscierge desk was not […] the same as another staff. The bathroom floor in the room had dried stains from ? puke...this did not get cleaned after pointing to housekeeping, disappointing for a 5 star hotel known for service. Otherwise the hotel is fabulous, the staff very courteous, the broadwalk next to the hotel with clubs is fantastic at night. Read more
"Great hotel - fantastic location"
THE HOTEL ARTS WAS GREAT. THE LOCATION IS IDEAL - IT'S VERY CLOSE TO THE WATER SO YOU HAVE A CONSTANT BREEZE - EVEN ON A HOT SUMMER DAY IT WASN'T TOO HOT AT ALL. THE STAFF IS VERY HELPFUL - THEY'LL SET YOU UP WITH ACTIVITIES THAT BEST SUIT YOUR NEEDS. THE DELUXE ROOM WAS NICE, BUT NOT OVER THE TOP.
"Be prepared to break the bank to fund this stay"
I was travelling alone and meeting my son and grandchildren at the Arts.I arrived a few days before them.On my first night I dined alone in the fine dining restaurant.I had already sussed that the meal would be expensive since it cost me 15 euros for a gin and tonic in the bar. I enjoyed my excellent meal and the staff were very friendly and attentive […] to my requirements. Unlike the tapas type restaurant - the Arola -where I ate the following night. There I was made to feel that I did not fit their customer profile.. When I asked for a glass of wine rather than a bottle,I was told there was only one wine I could have. When it turned out to be contrary to what I told the wine waiter my tastes were it was replaced with bad grace.Considering my bill was around 70 euros for some (allbeit excellent) tapas I left feeling very disappointed. The pool was surprisingly small, but my grandchildren loved it.The area around the pool was well equipped with comfortable chairs and huge towels and a hot tub. The restaurant in the pool area was excellent. I had a wonderful lobster salad, but the staff were able to provide dishes to my small grandchildrens' taste. I was surprised that the hotel expected a guest to pay 25 euros daily to get internet connection to their room. I did not take this up and discovered that there was wi-fi in the foyer with access free for 1 hour. .If I could afford it I would have no hesitation in returning to the Arts. Read more

If you like Newport Beach, CA and the people of Newport Beach, CA then you will like this hotel. Overall, the service at this was bad. We had to ask for things 3 and 4 times before anything would be done. They lost our luggage for 2 hours sometime between checking in and going to the room.
"Outstanding Hotel"
Excellent location on the beach and waterfront. Very clean and modern.
"Excellent hotel"
Hotel is very nice clean and rooms are vry roomy with all of the amenities of a five star hotel, and well situated. It is close to all activities, restaurants and nite clubs. The staff is helpful but I believe there is a lot of room for improvement in order to be considered a five star hotel. Word of advise do not eat or have drinks in te hhotel...extremely […] expensive!!!!!! Read more
"Not 5 Star"
Five star price but not five star standard.
"The ARTS hotel in Barcelona - good enough"
I sometimes think that hotels with 5 stars believe that having 5 stars gives them permission to act and charge as they please. This must never be the case! Just because I'm staying 5 star doesn't mean I want to pay €8 + room service fee for Special K at breakfast! I was running the Barcelona Marathon and so had no choice but to order room service for […] breakfast. Positives - generally good, friendly, knowledgeable service; spacious, comfortable room. Negatives - food/water in the hotel snack-restaurant was really overpriced and very basic. If you want to charge me more, give me more - make your food better, special, unique, organic, whatever. Remember, I'm already paying for the room, no need to milk it on everythnig else! The shower was awkward/difficult to work. Reception floor staff need to figure out how to address people - when we returned we were stopped by a staff member who asked whether he could help us and when I declined he stepped in front of me to enquire again as though we were not welcome in the hotel. I was furious. Sopke with the duty manager who apologised but this was far from the smooth experience I expect from any hotel, not just 5 stars! Also, the main restaurant was closed on Sunday night. Bizarre and inconvenient. Their tapas restaurant - which is supposed to be very good - was open but didn't suit for post-race eating. Still, we liked the room and the view but there was no sense of atmosphere in the place, ne sense of energy, making it a little boring and too much like a hotel for in/out business travellers.
