We enjoyed our stay. Reception was courteous and efficient. The concierge understood eactly what kind of restaurant we were looking for and directed us to an exceptional restaurant that was perfect for the last night of our stay in New Zealand. The room was of a high quality with everything functional. It's quality compares well to 4 star hotels elsewhere in the Pacific rim countries. I would recommend this hotel to anyone planning to stay in Auckland.

Arrived at 6am from an overseas flight and although there were two men at the front desk, neither offered to assist me with my luggage as I exited my taxi (the front of the hotel is all glass, so I was well in view). I found the room to be quite worn and felt the property had seen better days. I checked out within a few hours and re-booked another hotel.

We arrived at this hotel at approx 12.30 pm on a Saturday, having flown from Singapore. Woman on reception told us our rooms would not be ready for another 1 1/2 - 2 hours. She was not at all welcoming, in fact her manner was distinctly verging on the rude. We later learned she was the Manager. I would recommend she attends a customer service course fairly quickly. We went and had a snack lunch and waited to be told when our rooms were ready. We waited and waited until I went to the desk, only to find the Manager had gone off duty without telling us our rooms had been ready for a while. We were not impressed to say the least. Rooms were dingy, no safe.

Not only was the Rendezvous a spacious and clean room, but it also had a great workout room and a pool long enough to swim laps. Having never been to Auchland before, my friend and I had no idea where to stay. The agent at hotel.com booked us in an area that was close to downtown and all the things we wanted to see. Of all the hotels we stayed at in Fiji, and all of New Zealand, the Rendezvous was by FAR the very best! The rooms are a good size with a large window. Service, restaurant facilities and staff are excellent, as is the location. The biggest surprise was the price of the room bar which was the very nearly the same price as going to the local liquor store. All-in-all, a lovely hotel which we shall certainly use again.

the initial checkin was on a Sunday, and apparently inexperienced staff were at the desk, which led to a slow process. We had paid for a "club level" room, but the club itself was under renovation. We did get free breakfast and a free drink each day, but no "quiet" area. The couple we traveled with did not get their reserved room on the club level, and had to change from their initially-assigned room because it did not have a safe and the air conditioning didn't work. I would call this a 3 star hotel, not the 41/2 star rating.

An impressive hotel with ground to ceiling lobby, staff very attentive and helpful. Rooms very spacious with the suites (11, 12th floors) very large. My room offered lobby with bar (not free) and coffee (free) and guest bathroom (W/C and basin); opening to lounge area, 2 seat sofa with plasma TV and coffee table. Divider doors into bedroom 2 double beds facing another large plasma TV and doors to main bathroom. Bathroom contained bath, shower cubicle, two sinks, large vanity area and storage space. All finished to good clean standard, room service menu good with prompt service. If you take a suite you get access to the plaza club which offers separate breakfast and evening nibble and drink area. This room also gives a impressive view of the Sky Tower which at night is lit and impressive. A bar just off the main lobby is a nice place to relax as is the sun deck on the 4th floor. As it has a 'business person' feel the facilities during the week are hardly used meaning lots of space and peace. A short easy walk 15 - 20 minutes to the harbour, 10 minutes to restaurants, clubs and bars, 5 minutes to Sky Central means this hotel is in a good location without suffering from noise. Shuttle to and from the airport around 30-50 minutes at NZD$30-40 dollars
