This Hotel was 4 star for sure, the breakfast was the best I have ever had in an Hotel... The room was great..!! Only issue was getting into and out of their parking lot due to one way streets... They also wanted to charge for parking, I however complained and was not charged...

I don't know why but I had low expectations for my experience at the Hampton Inn at University of Pittsburgh, maybe because it was the only hotel with vacancies for graduation weekend. In the past I had stayed at the Holiday Inn Select and the Residence Inn at Marriott. BUT boy was I surprised! Our room, although small, was beautifully decorated with […] up to date furnishings and tech amenities. The bed and linens were comfortable and clean. My only complaint was the tight quarters in the bathroom, with only a corner shower stall and no tub. There really was no counter space to accommodate various toiletries, makeup, etc. But I think the complimentary hot breakfast made up for it. The location was right next to the Magee Womens Hospital and within walking distance to Fifth Ave and Forbes Ave, and the center of campus. I would not hesitate to recommend The Hampton Inn for anyone visiting Pitt or UPMC. Read more

Comfortable, pretty basic rooms. Mine had a chaise lounge I didn't really use. TV was smaller than I would have imagined, and not HD. Room had a refrigerator. They give you a complementary paper every morning at your doorstep. Breakfast is included, but crowded near the time it stops. They always have coffee and tea available. Pretty convenient to Pitt, but a LONG walk without a car. Hotel shuttle bus is readily available. The breakfast buffet was good and there is coffee, tea and hot chocolate in the lobby at all times. The room was clean and comfortable.

The shuttle service is a huge advantage and was like having a private limo at our beck and call all week. The manager of the hotel named "John" took care of every possible need and service we asked him for. He's a real pro at his trade and went beyond the call of duty to handle are requests for some color printing we needed.

Overall the hotel was good. Room stunk of cigarette smoke. Always a bummer since I don't smoke and don't want to smell that smell when I am trying to relax. Everything else ok, parking expensive, $14 a night. Friendly staff.

We have 2 students at University of Pittsburgh and this hotel was the perfect location. Our room was fine, air conditioner system is a little loud, breakfast was fine, coffee was good. The stay was very pleasant. The hotel is clean and the staff is very friendly and helpful. There are shuttles that take you to the downtown and that is very convenient. The drivers are all very good and cordial but there was only one guy who was rude. This is a real good hotel and I will not hesitate to stay here again.

We were happy to have our dogs with us. Staff was very friendly There needs to be a little more attention to detail with the cleaning/maintenance. There were coffee splash stains on the wall paper in the bathroom behind the door. Hall was a little old.

Everything was great except the aircondiotioner was very noisey and bothersome. I forgot to mention this to the staff, so that they could fix it. Other then this, we were very happy. The front desk staff went out of their way to make sure that are needs were met.

Sneaky $12 extra for parking when you arrive. Very helpful staff though, a free shuttle service to anywhere 3mi of the hotel that was very efficient. Good breakfast, a lot of choice.

Because it was the last room, I had to take a smoking room. I was unable to sleep because of the smell. My clothes smelled of smoke and had to be washed as soon as I reached my destination. I think all hotels should have a no smoking policy.

The University Hampton is overall a nice place to stay. It is close to most attractions, very clean, well-maintained, and a reasonable price. However, there is one problem--parking. If you are visiting on a weekend and plan to be out later than midnight, do not plan on having a parking spot upon return. I arrived at the hotel around midnight on a Saturday, […] and, after circling the lot for about 45 minutes, I parked illegally on the street. On my way into the hotel, I noticed at least 10 cars in the lot that did not have the Hampton $14 parking pass. The gentlemen at the front desk told me they refuse to tow cars under any circumstances. I asked why I had paid $14 if there is a no towing policy. The work out facility was a joke. Do not stay here if you need this amenity. The rooms are very small. However, the staff at any hour was very helpful and polite! Unfortunately, the sheets were never changed during our 9 day stay. This hotel had a good complimentary breakfast and was close to all we needed.

We loved the jitney that was available to take us within city limits from early to late. It made for a relaxing get-a-way knowing that we did not have to drive to see the sights nor worry about returning to the hotel.

We had a wonderful experience. The only change would be to have more shuttles running after a baseball game. We had a 45 minute wait for the shuttle and then we were forced to overcrowd or wait another 30 minutes for the shuttle to come back. The driver was wonderful.
