We had never been to Virginia before and were very pleasantly surprised by this resort which I found on the internet. We normally stay in Walt Disney World or at a Marriot or Sheraton Hotel. We took family vacation for the spring break and arrived the hotel at 3:45pm in a cold and raining March day. The reception area is very nice but the receptionist was very distance and we didn't feel be welcomed. We were told our hotel room was still not ready and we had to wait for one hour even the hotel's web site claimed the check-in time is 4:00pm. […] We gave one of our cell phone numbers to the receptionist and asked him to call us when the room was ready but we didn't get any call until we checked it again at 5:00pm. I must say that we were very impressed with the whole layout of Kingsmill Resort. It is gorgeous! I wish we had a room with a view of the water, instead of the tennis court! Our room wasn't ready when we tried checking in at 4:30pm and they graciously applied a credit to our account, which will be used for the Easter Brunch reservations we had made. […] The brunch was very nice and we had a table with a panoramic view of the grounds and river, which despite the pouring rain, was lovely. I do wish we had been offered a mimosa or a bloody mary with our brunch. I thought the room was very nice, not as fabulous as I expected it to be however. I thought the sofa/living room furniture to be a bit dated and drab and not very comfortable. Our daughter slept on the sleeper sofa and I didn't think it was comfortable at all. The thing that really annoyed me however was no soundproofing whatsoever! I thought there was a herd of elephants above us, jumping on and off the bed. The next morning, I could hear our next door neighbor complaining about the lack of hot water; it was as if I was in the same room. This was probably the most disappointing aspect of our stay. We went to a fabulous French restaurant nearby which I highly recommend: Le Yaca, it is just across the street from Kingsmill. I doubt we will return, simply because of the noise level, but the resort itself sure was beautiful! Read more

The resort was nice enough. However, for the price charged, I was not thrilled to discover there is a controlled thermostat in the room. I was also expecting more of a "hotel" (i.e., conference/banquet rooms on one floor with rooms on upper floors). The rooms are different blocks of "apartments" away from the main building. Loved it overall - beautiful location, lots of great facilities, convenient to Wiliamsburg, Busch gardens and many other sights and sites. Only real complaint was kind of unfriendly service by three different people at the fitness center front desk.

Beautiful place, lovely stay. Even beats the Sanderling Inn in Duck NC... A few picky comments.1) Indoor Pool interior needs painting or scrubbing- couldn;t tell which. 2) No hangers in the coat closet 3) A little dusty under the bed.

We went to this hotel specifically for their New Year's Eve celebration, (Because of extenuating circumstances - military active duty, one in our party had a restricted area where we were able to go.) It was a nice party, although not spectacular. There was quite a variety of age groups present and, as we were with our daughter and son-in-law, it was […] relatively ideal and we all had a good time. The 2 BR suite was perfect for us and we were well-cared for by all staff personnel. (And we ordered wood for the fireplace often!) I would love to return in the spring or fall and enjoy the outdoor activities (3 golf courses, etc.) offered at the resort. We selected the location as it enabled us to visit historic Jamestown, Williamsburg, and Yorktown and it was within our prescribed travel destination area. Read more

I went there for a weekend getaway with my boyfriend. I was a little disappointed because I had ordered strawberries and champagne to be there when we got there, I called and confirmed 3 times, but still it wasn't there. We had to call and confirm once we arrived at the hotel which obviously was rather meaningless at that point. We had a one bedroom suite with a fireplace and it was fantastic. The staff brings firewood and lights a fire. I wish you had the option of getting more firewood yourself instead of calling every few hours but otherwise everything was great. Clean, quiet, relaxing and very nice staff.

We made our reservation for my sister and I to enjoy a Mom's weekend away and it was fabulous. We went to the near-by outlet stores and then crashed at the resort with a cold beer from room service. Then we enjoyed a soak in the hot tub at the fitness center and then a wonderful dinner at the Marina. This place is for anyone who doesn't have a lot of […] time to waste and wants a guaranteed great experience - comfortable room, friendly room service, amazing food and drink with shuttle transport immediately from your room to wherever you needed to go on grounds. A short drive from Colonial Williamsburg, but great for families with kids or teenagers who are interested in golf, tennis, or other activities as well as seeing the sights. Lots of options and activities. We had a family of 5 in a large 2 BR suite with a full kitchen that was perfect!

The grounds and main buildings are beautiful. Our bathroom could have been cleaner. There were dirt smears on the baseboards and a corner of the shower curtain had mildew on it. We booked a 3 day stay for Thanksgiving. When the reservations were made, the menus were not finalized for Thanksgiving dinner. When I checked back to make dinner reservations […] there were none available. I think that the hotel should have emailed those who had made early reservations for the holiday to alert us that dinner reservations were now available. The check-in process was odd. I waited in line for 10 minutes while the couple in front of me was being checked in. When I arrived at the desk I was given my keys, a map of the grounds, and told to "have a nice stay"; not even half of the information that was given to the party in front of me. I wonder what the difference was that merited a complete explanation and orientation for them, and the brush off for me. The pool facilities were not available one evening due to "maintenance needs" and that was disappointing to us. Room service was good, as was the food in the Regatta. The Mill has excellent coffee and pastries if you do not want a full breakfast in the dining room. Overall we had a nice stay. Read more

We picked this hotel for our anniversary and had no idea the President of the US would be staying there for our weekend. Although initially excited he was there also, we were severely disappointed as his being there literally stopped all activity from happening. We waited over an hour just to ride the shuttle a few feet down the road. I have a disability […] and purposely did not take my wheelchair on the shuttle, and was made to wait over an hour,which hindered me from being able to walk the entire rest of the weekend. As a result, we had to stay in the hotel room (which was very puny and for an extensive price!) and we could not go to Colonial Williamsburg like we had hoped. I realize this was not our fault, or even the fault of the resort, but they did nothing to apologize or to refund our money, and that is what makes me dislike this resort. Make sure when you book the room you know ahead of time if a 'special person' will be there. Read more

Second time to Kingsmill and had a great time. We stayed in a 1 bedroom suite with 4 people and a baby. The perfect amount of room although the bathroom was a little tight. Bed extremely comfortable, pullout couch so-so. Kingsmill was preparing for the LPGA tournament but luckily we got 2 rounds of golf in on the courses not involved (Planatation and […] Woods), also tried the spa and it was great, although my masseuse talked way too much. I love that everything on the grounds is kid friendly. The new pool opened while we were there and looked nice - nothing ever felt very crowded which was fine with me. Went to all the restaurants except James River, and most of our meals were fantastic. There is also a great restaurant just outside the resort called Maurizios which we like to stop at. Howard, the hotel Restaurant Manager, was super friendly and seemed to be everywhere we went - what a great guy! We will definitely be back next fall. Read more

Unfortunately, I had a night time visit by a palmetto bug. After totally stressing, we were finally able to track it down but had no idea if there were more. Stayed up the rest of the night with all lights on worrying about more bugs. There was a flashlight in the unit so the next morning we looked under all of the furniture. No bugs were found instead, […] lots of cobwebs, dirt and some small pieces of trash. The rest of the room was clean.
