Absolutely loved it, from the first moment Stephanie at the front desk said Hello, how my I help you to checkout, everything was perfect. We already are planning our next Anniversary stay at Kingsmill.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"It's a resort"
It was our first time to stay in a resort hotel. I'm sorry but I prefer a building hotel. The taller they are the better. The room was not big enough. The bathroom was crammed. It's okay I guess if you have kids and like resort hotelsGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great rooms and excellent golf."
We had a great lunch before our round of golf at the River Course. Had a delicious dinner of rockfish & fabulous dessert.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice balance to colonial overload"
With the beautiful James river as a back drop, the resort is lovely. Interesting wild life - deer, birds, ground hogs. But on home coming weekend the busy property was thinly staffed. The wait for coffee at the tennis court shop was more than 20 minutes and then the coffee pot was empty. The lone worker struggled to serve close to 20 people. The TV was […] a modern flat screen but there is no HDTV service. Terrible on a hockey night. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
We really enjoyed our stay at Kingsmill. They could use more help in the Mill Shop - and cozy that place up a bit. But our stay was wonderful. It was beautiful. Beautiful resort. Great alternative to traditional hotels for larger familiesGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Poor customer service"
My room wasn't ready; the maid service was running behind; I had to settle for a lesser room without reduction in price; the front desk didn't take time to explain any amenities or answer questions; and the desk refused to print a receipt for me at checkout, stating that i had to rely on hotels.com for any paperwork. Also, walls were very thin, so noise, […] voices, and conversations could be heard from nearby rooms. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Was very clean with a great location."
When first driving up to the location i was very impressed with the landscaping and the detailed of the suroundings. The hotel was wonderful and the staff was even better, everyone was very nice an very helpful with any questions we had. We have stayed in Williamsburg many times before at other hotels and resorts, never have we stayed at the same one […] twice should i say. But I will have to say that next time we visit here we will be staying at KingsMill resort again. We are not easily impressed people. thank you Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
We enjoyed our stay which included dinner and a beautiful sunset at the James River Grille. The room was spacious and comfortable with a fully equipped kitchen. We were close to colonial Williamsburg and The Golden Horseshoe golf course.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great Getaway Place with Fun Activities"
Nice place for parents to get away from it all, especially if you play golf or tennis, but also has water sports and is near enough to Colonial Williamsburg, Busch Gardens, etc. for family fun time. Perhaps, not the place to go when the weather outside isn't warm, though; not even the pool is indoors. The resort's room accommodations - located in individual […] 2-story buildings having 8 units each (which can be adjoined) are very nice and spacious, feature 42" LCD TV, lg. marble bathroom. The bedding was extraordinarily soft and luxurious (as opposed to the rather ordinary linens you sometimes experience even at "better" hotels) making it the best night's sleep I have had in awhile (overslept, in fact!). We stayed here as an alternative to the "official" hotels in Colonial Williamsburg (because the rates are more reasonable) and not for its resort activities since I don't even play golf and we weren't there long enough anyway, but that would be a great bonus if you do. Our big disappointment was that we thought we were staying in a resort/lodge as opposed to a condominium community. We wanted a nucleus of amenities and ended up having to drive everywhere for what we wanted. The apartment was clean, though dated and sparsely furnished, and I ended up on a sofa bed which was not comfortable. The images and marketing […] language on the hotel.com site made it appear as if we were in a classic hotel room in a centralized facility. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Busch Gardens Trip"
This was a nice resort. Would be nice for someone who wants to stay on the resort and not worry about going anywhere. All was good just dont expect a comfortable bed. Felt like sleeping on a rock.Genuine Expedia guest review
"dining at the resort"
Everything was great, but the resort does not offer enough dining options. We were limited to one or two restaurants.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Shuttle drivers were kind and accommodating right to our building Had 2 issues with toilet, asked maintenance to just leave plunger so we wouldn't have to keep calling them. They wrote me back a nice note, because I was at pool, saying that they couldn't leave plunger but would be happy to come all night if problem continued and that they would snake […] the line next if needed. That they were here 24/7 no matter what. We had no other issues and didn't have to keep calling, a bit annoying at first because we did not clog it, obviously a previous issue. In general I think rooms should have their own plungers, who wants to call maintenance constantly? Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Problems with the room"
We were not happy with our stay. First up was the smell that hit you when you walked in. It was musty and almost like mold (we didn't see any evidence of mold). After staying there for two nights, we figured this was due to problems with the AC. It was much more humid than it should have been. Everything was damp, once our clothes were wet they never […] got dry. Another issue was the lack of detail in cleaning. When we got there there was no hand soap and one of the hand towels had been used. We also found a shirt behind a chair left from a previous guest. One last issue was the paper thing walls. One night neighbors came back and were talking so loud it woke me up thinking somebody was in our room. While they were loud, I don't think they were being loud (this was a family and no one sounded drunk), it's just that the walls were so thin that we could hear right through them. A very disappointing stay. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We vacation here several times a year (and have done so the past 10 years) and we really do enjoy the amenities the resort has to offer. However that being said, the service is at best sporadic. There are some really good and efficient staff/employees and there are some really bad and "put out" staff/employees. This is a hotel/resort and the concept […] of a resort should be to provide the best possible service to the guests. A majority of the staff does not understand this concept. Housekeeping, in particular, left out items for a basic clean each of the seven days that we were there. They even left their cleaning supplies and bags of coffee in our room! I have to believe most of these issues fall under the responsibility of the new management, Xanterra. Their basic goal must be, cut costs where ever possible. We don't expect or require a lot, but basic minimal customer service is questionable throughout the resort. I was sad to see that in our most recent visit, Xanterra is cutting costs in the maintenance of the property. It used to look like a lush tropical Island. Despite all the rain in the area, the place does not look as nice as it was under the Bush ownership. I fear that this resort will go down in quality in time with the new management. What a shame! We are looking for another family vacation spot. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Never thought Williamsburg could be so much fun!"
First off, this was a last minute attempt to find a vacation spot. I live in Norfolk, VA so going to Kingsmill was a drive down the street pretty much. I must say the environment was very relaxing. I am in the younger crowd (late 20's) and this would not be a place to go by yourself. The best experience was bringing a good friend to enjoy all the activities […] with. From a relaxing bike ride, to lounging out at the river pool, Kingsmill has a lot of things for visitors who just want to chill out. Make sure you have an active attitude because there is not a place to be sedentary. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"nice place- a lot of walking/driving"
We had a nice relaxing stay a this resort, but it would not be for everyone. First let me say that the rooms are very different...the first two nights we stayed in a beautiful room overlooking the golf course and having such a nice time decided to book a third night. That room was not available and the people at the front desk seemed confused (maybe […] their computers were down) in any case after waiting for about an hour for the front desk to call we started to get worried they were filling up and decided to play it safe and book on hotels.com again. Unfortuantely we were put in a much less desirable room overlooking the tennis courts which we did not like as much. The worst thing about getting a standard two bed room is that they have a connecting door to the much larger two story suites and the noise is bad. There were times that we felt like the kids in the suite were in our room it was so noisy (and they were not unusally loud kids). Anyway, also there is a lot of walking (or you can drive your car) to get to restaurants, pools etc...they do have a van but I did not see it picking up guests I think it is more for taking people into Williamsburg. Other than this it is a lovely resort. Our favorite part was the main pool down by the river. It has a water slide for kids and a lazy river, occasional live music and an attached outdoor restaurant. "Beautiful property, ok rooms"
The property was lovely, very well maintained, comfortable beds, great location. I was very excited at check-in, the lobby was beautiful, very friendly staff at the desk, I was anticipating a high end experience. The rooms were ok, I was hoping to sip a beverage by the pool but the only beverages were bottled drinks sold out of a refrigerator, although […] this wasn't the high end resort experience I was hoping for, I can't complain, I just think it's more of a relaxed family resort. "Perfect to relax but close to everything"
Can't say enough about Kingsmill. We enjoyed this like no other vacation. No pressure to see everything, and lots of space and places to relax. Room was small but updated and clean. Restaurants do not disappoint.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"The hotel was "ok", but not really resort quality."
Having stayed in some really nice resort locations, I can say the property was nice but not really up to the implied quality. The room was nice but nothing special, just a room. It was clean, but no fresh flowers or other amenities you would expect. The pool with lazy river were nice, but small. The food at the restaurant was good but not over the top […] special or exciting. There are other choices in the area that would suit the same purpose. Overall I was disappointed, because the property could have had so much more to offer. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Nice family place in Williamsburg"
Kingsmill Resort is a wonderful place to bring the family. The accommodations are spacious and clean and the entire family felt free to relax. It was great coming back to the room after a hot day in the nearby amusement parks. "Close proximity to Busch Gardens & nice amenities"
The resort was awesome. However, I was expecting a one building resort and the rooms are actually in condo style outbuildings. The staff was very pleasant and always helpful. Walls were thin and we heard neighbors 2 of the nights we were there way into the evening. You can walk to most everything on the resort but they have drivers on golf carts that […] will pick you up at your building and take you anywhere on sight. Liked that we had shuttles to the parks so we didn't have to drive. Again, my biggest complaint would be that I was expecting to be in a main building with elevators not spread out in older wooden sided buildings with stairs. Rooms were a little smaller than what they appeared to be in the pictures but were clean and room was serviced daily. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"It was OK...................."
Very poor housekeeping! We would return to our room to find that housekeeping had come to service the room and they left dirty towels and trash after they had visited. "Nice Getaway Spot..."
We had an overnight stay at Kingsmill, and we had a fine experience overall. I was surprised by the extent of the resort, as our actual room was secluded away in a separate building from the main building. The room was comfortable for the most part but lacked a refrigerator. In addition, the air-conditioning system was noisy even though it was a central […] air system. It sounded like a wind tunnel blowing strong currents of air through our room (effective but noisy). Consequently, we found it difficult to sleep despite the comfortable bed. One other picky complaint is that the HD TV is wall-mounted in an awkward position away from the bed. On the other hand, the pool area was great with the lazy river, waterslide, and hot tub set against the James River. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Staff was very helpful and accommodating. Be sure to make reservations for dinner as it gets very crowded. Room was very clean and nice. Stunning grounds and very nice pool area. "Nice resort with beautiful marina and golf course"
The resort is very nice. I enjoy the beautiful view of marina and golf course. It's huge resort but just one dial, there will be pick up for you to go anywhere in the resort - pools, tennis court, marina, restaurants, etc. However, the only thing i hate is the food especially James Landing grille, the dinner sucks. Party of 8 with 4 diff entrees, all, […] yes ALL either too salty, overcooked tasteless, everything. All of us 8 took a bite and yuck. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"activities for everyone but condensending workers"
The resort was quiet and serene! .Our room, overlooking the golf course was beautiful with a very comfortable bed. The new pool area with a lazy river, live music, and cool drinks readily available, for a fee, was just what we needed after a long day. On a negative note however we were somewhat shocked by the way we were treated in the golf area! Being […] members of a golf course ourselves, we went to visit the pro shop and it's restaurant. We walked through an open door that lead to an empty members lounge area.We asked to see a menu as we were checking out places for supper. The young guy working there hovered over us as if we were intruders. We thought he was very rude! Both my husband and I would hope his attitude did not represent that of the resort in general! "Ok hotel, but I won't go back!"
The landscaping was beautiful. The hotel room was old. The TV should have been centered in front of bed, instead of off to the side. Put a light in the closet. Had to use a flashlight to see the safe. The room was very clean, but have a mini fridge, some times you like to bring the rest of your meal back and eat later. No microwave. The Keurig Coffee […] Machine wouldn't work. For $200 a night I expected more. It's back to Ford's Colony for me. I wasn't impressed at all. The staff was friendly, but they said they would call when our room was ready. They didn't. It's the little things. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Golf First, Resort Second..."
My family and I spent 3 nights with Kings Mill, and overall, it was a satisfactory stay. The hotel sat perfectly in-between the three main attraction areas of Williamsburg, Jamestown, and Yorktown. Only about a 10 minute drive to any one of those areas. The weather was lousy for a couple of the days, but we certainly made the best of it. As big as this […] resort is, there really is not a lot to do, and you'll need to look elsewhere off of the property for any downtime between sight seeing. Overall, this hotel seems to cater more to golfers or business people, and less to traveling families. The only exception to this would be the new pool that was put in that has a lazy river and small slide. That was very accommodating for families, but the rest was more adult oriented. If you are looking for a Disney hotel experience in Virginia, this is not it. Try the Great Wolf lodge. It is a bit more expensive per night, but well worth it if you have kids in the 2 to 13 range.
