"Old but well kept hotel near airport"
The interior of the room was better than I expected. The hotel is old. This is obvious by the construction and landscaping. But the room seemed to be recently updated; not plush, but clean and definitely adequate for the purpose of a peaceful night's sleep before and after running a marathon in the area.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not worth unless you want to stay close to airport"
Rooms and hotel look and feel really old. Clean but not fresh rooms.Air conditioner is in corner of the room and not facing the bed. It will take long time before you feel the heat/cold from it. Unless you need to stay close to airport for parking or pickup/drop off from airport, Miss this place.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"close to airport"
The 1st room they gave us the air conditioner wasn't putting out cold air. The next room was Ok but the door made a loud noise when we shut it and you had to push it hard in order to close. Breakfast was Ok. I don't think I'd stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Helpful Staff worn-out room"
For public transit users the location is perfect. The 12, which runs downtown stops right on the block and the transit center is a 20 minute walk away if your prefer the rail. The hotel itself has become worn-down, furniture is chipped, rug visibly worn, doors need replacing. The staff is wonderful, helpful and professional.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This hotel was Nasty and in a not so promising location. Our bed was extremely hard and sloped where you were rolling off. The couch was stained. The ceiling had brown water stains. And worst of all our shower had little hairs form someone shaving AND snot on the wall. When we checked out we said it wasn't a great stay and she was like whatever and […] she snapped at us when we asked for a receipt. Definitely not a place to stay at ever again. "OK to sleep overnight, not long term."
We chose this hotel due to late flight into Portland and it was semi-close to airport. It was as clean as possible for a hotel that hasn't been remodeled in many years. Staff was friendly, breakfast limited but was good for what they offered.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"It's a bit of a fixer upper."
The hotel is showing its age a bit. The carpets, bathroom tile, paint condition and colors, & exterior were old and worn. There were signs of a face lift... New crisp clean white bedding and comforter, new bath tub and plumbing fixtures. Though these were only in our room, not my traveling companions. "Badly in need of Renovation"
Howard Johnson's was a premier hotel chain fifty plus years ago. Now it's "HoJos" and um, it hasn't exactly worn well. This facility was VERY run down, with aged carpet (complete with funky smell) in each hallway and each room. One of the "EXIT" signs was literally hanging from the celing, and the wall by my bed had two holes in the drywall. The pool […] was much smaller than the picture presented, but was warm and enjoyable, at least our first night. The second night we were unable to swim as someone had vomited in said pool and no one had materialized to clean it up. Oh well, at least it was cheap. I only paid $109 per night through /hotels.com. Wait, what?? Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
My stay here was cool. I found on hotel.com for discounted price. All the staff were friendly. My room was clean and everything was functioning. The bed was comfortable. I arrived late and checked in quick. I like that the room has microwave and small fridge.. . I feel safe here.. The only thing is the hallway feels dark and smell of smoke.. If you […] are traveling by yourself , u can feel safe here. The breakfast was decent , have boiled eggs, English muffin and gravy.. Cereal.. Bagel and bread. Orange and apple joined coffee . "Did not even get out of the car"
When we pulled up to the hotel, the surrounding neighborhood and the people outside were way too frightening. We did not even go inside, but immediately left and found more appropriate accomodations. So I guess I cannot rate the rooms or the service at all. We paid for the room, but did not use it.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The worst HOJO I have ever stayed at. Hands down. The hallway carpets and doorways are permanently stained and in desperate need of getting torn out and replaced. Say NO to HOJO in Portland.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Stay if you must"
There was nothing special about this hotel. Although clean, the maintenance of the handrails, surrounding landscaping & building was not up to par. The room was just ok. Would stay here again only if I couldn't find anything else. Pool was a nice feature.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Got what I paid for"
it is convenient to the airport and a lot cheaper than the other airport hotels. Staff is friendly.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Find a different hotel -read the YELP reviews"
This place was shabby, bad neighborhood and not a good choice. Reviews on YELP show all sorts of issues from service to refunds to dirty rooms. I stayed 10 minutes and left.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel is old and very worn looking but it was inexpensive and fine for an overnight after a late flight. Convenient to the airport and room was clean as was the pool in the AM. Also, staff member was friendly upon check-in.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Dirty, old, no elevator, grimy floors, bad smell"
This hotel wasn't horrible, but it wasn't too far from it. The staff was polite and the pool surprisingly looked nice. However, there are no stairs and when you have a heavy bag and are on the 3rd floor that can be annoying. It also smelled very strongly like a cleaner used to mask some sort of scent. The bathroom was dirty. The floors were grimy and […] nasty, didn't want to walk around barefoot. The room did not feel comfortable or relaxing at all. We spent as little time there as possible. Only thing that was positive was the location/area in Portland and the free shuttle from the airport. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

The hotel was quiet and close to the airport. The desk staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is an older building. This is descent economy hotel if you are looking for a quiet room near PDX.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very Friendly staff, for a "tired" hotel"
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Hotel is in need of a "face-lift", but hasn't gotten to roack motel status yet.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
.I scored half-off thru a last minute booking but won't be back. first impressions were that the immediate neighborhood was a bit seedy while there are comparable more conveniently located hotels just a mile away on "the other side of the tracks.". the room was clean, included a frig, and the overall hallway looked recently decorated. unfortunatelythe […] room is air conditioned by one of those old "bench" units, loud, with just 3 fan settings, loud, loud, and loud. the TV speakers were busted, altho there was sound, it spiked intermittently as if the volume was being turned up and down. stay away from room 203. "Got the job done"
We didn't get to the hotel until after midnight. There were a lot of weird "night crawlers" in the area. I wondered what the heck I had done when I booked the room. The hotel also was weird with the "passageways" to get to our room. The hotel itself could definitley use an uplift, but our room was wonderful and clean; that's all I cared about. The continental […] breakfast was out of nearly everything by 8am but it was packed. Just wish the staff would have kept up on it a little better. Service at check in and check out was amazing though. In fact, when we checked in, the gal let me use the employee restroom (pregnant and no available restrooms don't mix!). That was a nice plus for sure! In the morning, however, the hotel and surrounding area didn't look that bad at all. Maybe it was just a bad first impression. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

clean and quite and good services.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
It's dated but very convenient to airport. I made last minute reservation alone, so it was nice having the free shuttle. Since I didn't have a car, I appreciated the complimentary breakfast. The room rates are very affordable during summer peak datesGenuine Hotels.com guest review
It was great but it would be nice if they had a make your own waffles so it was warm and fresh instead of cold waffles.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Clean and Convenient"
This hotel was very clean and conveniently close to the Airport and Cascade a Station. Features were as advertised and air-conditioning worked. Close to two Max Stations for getting downtown. Very satisfied with my stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

It was a good place to stay. There was a good restaurant at the hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
As the title says there was nothing special about this place? It was quite a distance from the airport. The guy working the front desk was rude & curt, the place old run down and musty. Other than the name there was no connection to Howard Johnson's the restaurant was buffet style Indian. NOT a great value for the price of $70 a night? Will not go back […] ever! "Second time there"
It was a good location for my purposes this time in Portland. The room Was clean, the neighbors quite, close to the interstate, The coffee was dreadful! For a town like Portland that brags about how good their coffee is........I could not find a decent cup in that entire town.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Friendly staff, decent place"
Yeah, it's not a bad place. Pretty good biscuits and gravy on the free breakfast buffet too.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"BIGGEST WASTE OF MONEY"
NOTHING like the online add...this hotel was by far the nastiest stay EVER! Besides the stinky air with no windows or fan, the tv didn't work right the carpet was black and in the middle of the ghetto of Portland!!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Gave me the Willies"
I chose this hotel for ONLY ONE REASON...because I was arriving at 1:30 in the am and just wanted to take a shuttle to a close hotel and crash after flying for over 20 hours. I arrived at PDX, got my bags and called for the shuttle. I was informed that it stops at 1:00. I was quite angry. I had to shell out almost $20.00 to get to this fleabag. It took […] forever to find my room, winding through a series of interconnected hallways though connected buildings. Up stairs to doors that had signs saying "Exit Only". back down stairs, then upstairs again, then out of the building to another building on and on through what appeared to be filthy narrow hallways that looked like they were from a teenage horror flick from the 70's. And it stank, too. I finally found my room and was surprised that it seemed to be quite clean--although very small. I just laid down and went to sleep having been up for 26 hours by that time. In the morning I packed up and took the shuttle back to the airport where I got a rental car and drove to a decent hotel. I would not recommend this hotel. Unless you are homeless or a backpacker just looking for a place to crash. It failed me on the one thing I needed it for--the shuttle. So it was pretty much a wast for me. When you add the price of the cab to what I paid I could have stayed at a much nicer hotel (with a shuttle too!) Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Weird smells, old, but nice staff and clean"
We booked this at the last minute because we needed to layover a night for a flight out of PDX. They have a shuttle which is nice, but seemed a little far to be called an airport hotel, (no biggie though, it was free and the driver was nice and prompt). The lobby was sorta nice and the agent was very accommodating. The outside premises seemed rather […] pleasant but inside our building, it had some weird smells to it and was really musty. Also, confusing hallways! The neighborhood seemed pretty sleezy but not outright dangerous. Nearby is a bar and gaming room (?) and a Vietnamese lounge restaurant down about 10 minutes by foot. Our bed was very uncomfortable, and the mini fridge in the room would keep buzzing kind of loud and I was only able to shut it up by giving it a light tap every hour or two into sleep. The bathroom and sink was pretty clean and updated which was a pleasant surprise. They also had a pretty big morning selection of coffees, juices, and pastries, and a little dining area. We couldn't find a spot outside except what seemed to be log chairs with a plank table...? Either way, we didn't fit and it felt like everything was gonna fall off of it. All in all, not horrible, but not a place I would recommend if they're willing to spend a little more per night. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"You get what you pay for!"
Booked this during a 50% off sale. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel while attempting to look updated was in a surprising state of disrepair. Loose or poorly attached fixtures, an outside door that wouldn't lock, and all the floors smelled like public restrooms due to the Fikes air fresheners.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Loss of electricity"
I wish staff had made more effort to make us more comfortable, check in on how we were doing or make some compensation for the situation. It seemed they took the stand that the less said the better. That does not feel like hospitality.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"At least they refunded"
I needed WIFI for work. Their's was pathetic. "Timed out" constantly due to such low connection speed. They moved me to a different room to try to improve. No help. I called their Matrix tech support and was told that they have a severely limited network connection and that it was beyond maxed out. They were nice enough to not hassle me when I checked […] out immediately and Expedia refunded and found me another hotel. I was actually glad to have the reason to not stay there. It was pretty run down, noisy and packed. HOWEVER the rooms did smell mildly like disinfectant which while unpleasant was at least a good sign. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
