I was there on business and I was literally in the hotel for about 2 hrs total! My mom and daughter were there much more than I was...but the room was clean and beds pretty comfy! We were in the new side and it was very nice!

After viewing all the other reviews, I selected this hotel. What a pleasant surprise. Restaurant for dinner is pricey but worth it. The breakfast (by voucher) is way above what you would normally see on a breakfast buffet.Will definitely stay at Best Western Plus again. White Spot Restaurant across the street is upscale and food is wonderful.

Located in the West Edmonton Mall in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, this themed hotel places the world's most exotic locations at guests' fingertips.
Hotel Features.
The global tour begins with the hotel's four dining establishments. Europa's serves casual European fare, while Café Levi is a kosher deli that prepares salads, panini sandwiches, pastas and pastries. Fantasy Grill Dining room specializes in tableside flambes while The Fantasy Lounge offers tropically themed cocktails. Nearly 25,000 square feet of meeting space includes the hotel's conference center, and a business center accommodates corporate and social functions. High-speed wired Internet access is complimentary. Recreation includes an indoor swimming pool.
Guestrooms.
This unique hotel features 120 themed guestrooms with names such as the Hollywood, African, Arabian, Waterpark, Igloo or Sports. Room décor varies according to room choice. For example, the Hollywood room features a stroll down guests' personal Walk of Fame, after which the soothing comforts of a glamorous black-marble spa tub await. The Igloo room features sounds of frozen arctic winds and a replica of the Northern Lights. Beds are housed within an igloo, a dog sled serves as a couch and the warm spa tub snuggles up to a faux iceberg. All rooms include satellite television, coffeemakers and dial-up Internet access.

"Don't get what you pay for"
I have stayed at this hotel many times as I do art shows in the Mall. It is expensive, for a run down place. Kinda cool rooms, but for the money you would think they would fix the elevators, and decor.

The hotel is very well placed for visting the local mall. It has very friendly staff and the rooms are large an comfortable. Rooms are starting to show some signs of wear but generally they are very good. Only problem was the 4 lifts, you wait ages for one to arrive.

I stay here every year for Christmas shopping, mainly because of the convenience. I think it is over priced for what you get but it is attached to the mall so they have a captive audience and I'll pay whatever they charge. Even when you book in 4 people you have to request extra towels, cups, glasses every day. This year when I called the 1-800 number […] for the hotel reservation I ended up at hotels.com somewhere not in Edmonton, speaking to someone that had a bit of a problem with english and had no idea if I was booking at the right hotel and then found that the room was charged to my visa at that point, 3 months before the visit. This has never happened before and I wasn't impressed. I collect from others and might have wanted to pay cash. Thought I was providing my credit card to reserve only. If we had to cancel, can only imagine how much fun it would have been getting a refund. But, no matter what I'll be booking again next year. Read more
"Excellent for visiting the mall"
We went to Edmonton to see the Mall. The motel was very convienient. The staff was friendly and very accomidating. We had 2 adults and 3 teenagers in a standard room with 2 queen beds and it was good sized. The only thing missed was free wireless internet

It was alright. The room was clean but missing a few usual things like tissue and facecloths, etc. The elevators were down and there were only 2 working ones for many floors of guests which made for long waits. Probably wouldn't stay there again.

the room was clean and comfortable. only a couple of elevators were working. I did not like how you had to pay over 8.00 CAD to access the hi speed internet and you can only use 1 computer to access it. Which means if you are using your laptop, you will not be able to access the wi fi with yor ipod. otherwise you have to pay another 8.95. surrounding […] shops that was not in the hotel were cheaper than the shops attached to Fantasyland. "Over priced for the what its supose to be"
I have been by and have heard about this hotel for years and will never go back My Wife and I have stayed at lesser costing hotels with cleaner and more up to date rooms the carpet looked like a oil rig worker had walked in it with his boots on also there was urine on the rim of the toilet from previous guest there was no fan in the bathroom and was […] told by front counter there was remote for tv did not work was told tvwhere new which i'm sure they where but the mutli purpose remote where junk the main haul carpets where nasty and the elevators even though when working where fast need servicing as once we got unit to our floor it took repetive hits on floor button to close thedoors and if the unit wanted to move it might I will not stay at west edmonton fantasy hotel again Read more
"Fantasyland Hotel - in the midst of it all"
The hotel is located in the mall, which is open to walk around 24 hours a day giving easy access to all of the attractions and things to see without having to get back in the car.

Check in was smooth and very fast. In fact we were upgraded to a Theme room for both nights. Although a bit out dated, the kids really enjoyed the room, which was clean and spacious. While we were there, they were upgrading the power system in the hotel and mall so we were woken up both nights by the fire alarm going off but that was a extremely unusal […] event. They did send letters to the room the morning of letting us know what was going on so that was appreciated. We have stayed at the hotel several times and it's always been a enjoyable and positive experience. Being right in the mall is very convenient, parking is plentytful and the hotel staff have always been very friendly, professional, and helpful. Our stay at the Fantasyland hotel has always been very good. Hotel staff are always friendly and ready to serve. We also enjoy being able to shop and stay all under the same roof, especially when the weather outside is not very nice. We would recommend this hotel to everyone and rate it as very good
"Fantastic Hotel"
I love this hotel! If you ever want to go to see the West Edmonton Mall stay at this hotel. It is well worth the money. I debated about the price and thought about staying somewhere else but am really glad I stayed here. I stayed in the polynesian room and it was wonderful.
"Great hotel to stay if you love to shop"
Stores, restaurants, etc abound. One complaint we had was on our last night, they had a big party at the Waterpark which was real loud and we could not sleep.

I love staying right in the West Ed mall. You can shop at your leisure, go swimming or to galaxy land. Bourbon street has several meal options. A truly great getaway.

hotel was great except elavators out of service 2 out of 4 for one day and line ups at check in time. and one out second day. took my wife so she had the day to shop while I took care of my business. took taxi's to airport as shuttle service not really on fixed times unless they have the bookings. Water stains on ceiling, caulking around hottub deteriating. The room was very nice and comfortable, but for the amount we paid we should not see these deteriating conditions.

Room should be inspected more closely found a used condom between the matress and the wall and something should be done about the elevators as we had to wait approx 30 minutes in the morning to get downstairs
"Fantasyland Hotel - great location, needs work"
Great locacation. Needs some maintenance work. During the four days we stayed there was only 2 out of the 4 elevators working - long delays. We did not have a theme room but the themed hallways need attention - many broken fixtures/decorations. Service was good, friendly staff, loved the location, but the hotel needs some work on the facility.

I was not impressed with the fantasy land hotel. I will not be back. For the price I paid I was expecting a much nicer well kept room. The room was out dated and dirty. I felt like I was staying in a 2 star scuzzy hotel. The tv wasn't working properly and when I told the front desk in the morning of the dirty room and tv. Front desk staff were very nice and friendly. Hotel is starting to show its age, Toilet broke first time we used it. Staff was there within half an hour to repair it. Very dated. Rooms really need to be updated. Very nice to be right in the mall but everything closed at 6pm on Sunday night, even the pool. But you can still catch a movie, which we did. Hard to find a good sit down breakfast before 9am in the mall. Too expensive and overrated for sure.

You have to sign a paper when keeping a pet here- cannot leave pet alone in the room for any amount of time.. Fyi. awesome rooms though
"Great Hotel but don't stay on the 4th floor."
We have stayed at this hotel a number of times and have always been happy. This was our first bad experience. We were on the 4th floor. The banquet and party rooms are on the third floor and it is really loud. It kept us awake until 2am. We should have been warned about this and given a discount or choice on a better location.

We really enjoyed staying at this hotel because of the convenient access to the water park and galaxyland. It was wonderful to be able to shop, drop our packages off in the room, and then go swimming without ever leaving the mall. The rooms were nice and large, with high ceilings to make it feel even bigger. I definitely would recommend this hotel!

The staff was very friendly.Elevators needs more maintenance. They need more the 2 working all the time for the amount of people that use it. Sometimes the 3rd one worked other times it didnt. The staff was very helpful. The restaurant L2 Grill was exceptional. We have a little girl with allot of food allergies and they were so considerate and accommodating to our and her needs. The manager, cheff and assistant all took such care to prepre meals that she could eat. We were a group of 8 with kids and we all had a awesome time. Room was not consistently cleaned, and things like the coffee was not always refilled, and floors were not vacuumed for days. Room was even monitored by day supervisor for one day and still fell short of clean. The garbage from our room was even left on our room floor. Not good when we had two babies under two with us. Ate at the L2 grill, wanted the […] continental breakfast, waiter would not listen to us and kept trying to sell us the more expensive breakfast. We had to state three times we just wanted the continental breakfast. Then he watched us like we were criminals as if we were stealing our food. Our last night some equipment above our room (we were on the top floor) started making a very loud noise at 5:15am, waking us up, then started filling the room with some diesel exhaust smell, we informed the front desk, they did nothing to compensate, or even offer help to clear the room of exhaust. We had to open our windows and put our babies in our bed for fear of carbon monoxide poisoning. We got no sleep. Not good when we had to drive 10 hours home that day. Parked our vehicle and trailer in the valet parking our last night, since we had to park it, the concierge said he would not charge us. The next day when we were leaving the concierge on duty and the concierge manager questioned us with an accusing tone as to why our vehicle was in there without paying, stating that if we park in the valet parking we have to pay for it. Insinuating that we sneaked it in there to avoid paying. Never have I received such bad service from a hotel, I’ve had better service from hotels that are dumps to look at. Read more
