It is a peaceful quarter adjacent to, but largely unaffected by the visitor hubbub. The picturesque Ponte degli Scalzi is a great place for watching the busy canal traffic and there are many fines churches to explore off the beaten tourist track. The Rialto Bridge is only a 10-minute walk or boat ride away.

I enjoyed my four-day stay and found the staff very pleasanat and helpful. I couldn't stay in the room they gave me as the window was so high I couldn't see out and I felt suffocated and they kindly moved me immediately to a much nicer room. It is very convenient, right next to the ferries to everywhere and there is a Coop shop next street, to get groceries. June Marshall

The hotel itself is located at the entrance to the Grand Canal, making it an ideal base for sight seeing and any visitors coming in by car or bus. 15mins walking distance to the Rialto Bridge and another 5 mins to St Marks' Square. Close to some very reasonably priced cafes. Perhaps not the most modern of rooms you will find, the room was very clean without any problems. Would be happy to stay here again !!

Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 29, 2009
Summary: good location (close to the train station, bus/taxi stop, and water bus station), not good for hot summer time as the AC is very weak, safe, right next to the Grand Canal, hotel rooms didn't meet my expectation (and I am not a picky person). Location is good: it's right next to the bus/taxi stop (the only land tranportation stop in Venice; you can't catch a taxi elsewhere in Venice as they do not allow cars in venice). Water bus station is right next to it. Train station is about 10 minutes walking (important if you are arriving/leaving Venice by train). As the hotel is right next to the Grand Canal, it can get noisy but it's ok if you close the windows. I stayed in the hotel for 3 nights. The room I reserved was for 4 adults and the size is ok. The bathroom is small. the shower is small and you can barely move around in the shower. The room and the bathroom needs more light. The AC is almost non-existent. It was hot when I was there. I complained about the AC but no improvement. I almost moved out of that hotel after I checked in but I didn't want to waste the money I already paid and look and pay for other hotel rooms. The room is ok clean but we found few small bugs in the room. The area is safe. The staffs are helpful except for the weak AC. Towels are clean. I will not recommend this hotel to anyone who is going to visit Venice during hot weather time. If you are going there during winter time, I guess it's ok unless they do not have heater or if the heater is also weak.

We have stayed there in the past, and knew the hotel is not of great confort or standard. Having said that, the reason why we went back is because it is the onl hotel in Venice that you can litterally drive into the island and park. We were traveling with our kids, staying for only one night, so the convenience of it outweighed the quality of the hotel. They have added a new section which is a separate building and it felt a little creepy.

The location of this hotel was extremely central, near to bus station & train station, all river boat stops and walking distance to the main streets. Could not fault our room, but if I had to.....no tea making facilites was the only negative, everything else was superb. The hotel was easy to find when we arrived in Venice and the staff were extremely helpful. Rates were very reasonable and we were extremely pleased with everything.

This was our first trip to Venice, and we were very pleased with this hotel. It was very convenient, across the Grand Cannel from the train station, and also fairly close to the cruise port. Hotel staff were very friendly, and helpful. Breakfast was a continental breakfast, but staff was very helpful to bring coffee, and help out if they could. Would recommend a repeat stay at this hotel.

Since we were taking a cruise out of Venice, the location was very convenient. Since the hotel is the only one in Venice that can be reached from the mainland by a land taxi, the transfer from the airport with our six pieces of luggage was substantially easier than dealing with a water taxi. Ditto with our transfer to the ship. The Vaporetto stop was a short walk from the hotel and with a three day vaporetto pass all of Venice, including Murano and Burano, was easily accessible. The main building is old and did not have handicapped accessible rooms. The shower was horribly small. The continental breakfast, included in the rate, was decent. The air conditioning in our room was barely functioning. Because of the beauty of Venice and the convenient location of the hotel, we tolerated our three night stay there.

Do not book this hotel. They have additional rooms in another building near the bus depot which they may reserve for you unknowingly. It's not on the canal, there is no view, no front desk and is behind multiple gates and locked doors to access. It's a total SCAM!!! We almost died when the porter (who was to show us to our room) led us OUT of THE HOTEL and around the canal down a gated alleyway.

We stayed at this hotel because we needed a land taxi for an early morning flight. And, it is only a few feet from a actv waterbus stop and 2 blocks from the train station. We had a lovely room on the front side of the hotel so we had a great canal view. The room was beautiful with crystal chandeliers and brocade walls. The bathroom was fine except we had no shower curtain. The front desk staff was very helpful and arranged a 5:00 am land taxi (note a 45 euro taxi ride becomes 60 euro at 5:00 am)and their restaurant suggestion just two bridges away was terrific and very affordable. Our only complaint was we asked for more pillows and a shower curtain and neither request was granted. The canal view was terrific, but before you book one of these room, know that the waterbus runs until 1 or 2 in the morning so it would be impossible for someone who is a light sleeper to sleep. We were so tired that the noise didn't bother us. If you're not interested in staying in the St. Mark's square area this is a terrific hotel and easy to get to by water taxi, water bus or land taxi.

This was a very nice 3-star hotel right on the Grand Canal (beautiful breakfast view), and just a few steps from the P.Roma vaparetto stop. If you're arriving on the train, buy a vaparetto ticket at the train station stop (Ferragio) BEFORE walking the 3 Venetian blocks (across canal bridges with stairs) to the hotel.
