Holiday Inn Country Club Plaza - Kansas City

I would stay here again. I asked for a quiet room and the reception desk staff was right on. Had a great night sleep. Breakfast was the typical hotel breakfast but nourishing. Good selection of hot food, fruit and healthy alternatives.

The only issues were additional costs at check-in: we had to pay extra to park a second vehicle (although I paid for 4 occupants), and had to pay extra for breakfast (although I paid for free breakfast when booking), as only 2 breakfasts are provided. Since the rehab work, this hotel has improved quite a bit. The staff is first rate. I even had one of the management staff give me parking options in the lot where my car was parked for check-in. Considering it was graduation weekend, I was surprised how quiet it was in the hallways. Highly recommended for the value at this price.

Aside from the night of the fraternity party, which the hotel staff tried valiantly to contain, this was a good hotel experience. Underground parking was really convenient and one could take an elevator directly to the room. The fitness room was small but adequate. The staff had a great attitude. There was a basketball thing in town. As rowdy party goers returned to hotel at early morning hours there was little noise abatement in rooms to let us sleep through it. Also our window curtains were torn and we had to use binder clips to keep them closed for privacy.

Convenient location close to UMKC. Very good food at reasonable prices in restaurant. Clean room. It took awhile to check in, because their computer systems were briefly down, but it wasn't a huge deal. From the moment we walked in we knew this was going to be great! Everyone was pleasant and very helpful asking us each time they saw us if we needed anything. They were amazing with a small mishap during breakfast but, made up for it and all was well!!

We arrived Thursday afternoon and found everything in order. The only change noticed was the rewards program changed from your selection of reward (breakfast, drinks or points) to a lottery ticket - scratch off. Other then that everything was fine.

The front desk staff were very polite and helpful. The hotel is within about 2 blocks of the plaza area. The hotel has free underground secured parking. The free shuttle service was fantastic to be able to use!

Our first room was next to large dogs and they kept barking everytime you walked down the hall, we requested a room change. They then put us in a room that smelled like someone had pooped and didn't flush. The room smelled horrible. The staff came in a spray freshner to help. The staff was friendly and we enjoyed the shuttle service to the plaza which is just a short walk away(but it was cold). The hotel was very nice. The room was nicely decorated however some of the furnishing were a tad dated but this should not deter anyone from booking a room. It was quiet and any staff member we encountered was pleasant. We booked the room with no breakfast included however at check-in, they signed us up for the "club" and we ended up receiving a free […] breakfast buffet each morning. Pretty good deal and the buffet was decent. Not great, but good enough for being free. Free parking and free Wi-Fi was really nice considering our location on the Plaza. Staff was well-trained and very helpful. Hotel is a bit old but clean. Pillows are foam and very uncomfortable and the blinds did not completely close, so it was not dark at night. Work-out room is small and one of the 2 treadmills had a broken television. Overall the location is great and the price was very reasonable.

The hotel has a great location if you are planning to do anything in the Plaza. Nice rooms, beautiful view and good value for the price. I booked two rooms - it was four women doing a girls weekend of shopping and dining. It's in a nice safe location so no worries about not having our spouses along.
