"great hotel for family"
the only thing i would recommend in this hotel is room service...when you get hungry at night ...u dont want to go out but stay in your room...also have a lunch or dinner buffet ..its hard to find food of a quality out there....hopefully in the future thus mmight happen to have a superb time to a wonderful timeGenuine Expedia guest review
"Close to convention center"
I was there for a conference at the Convention Center. The hotel was very convenient for that as it was just a few minutes walk. However, you are in the heart of the city (not near the beach) so you could easily be in LA, NY, etc. Also the rooms are really small. If I did it again, I would stay in Waikiki and just take a cab.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Oldies but goodies."
This is a older hotel trying hard to keep up with the new. Staff is great. Location unbeatable.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Convenient for shopping"
The hotel is fine but nothing special. The location was convenient for shopping and our purposes (concert at Blaisdell). Rooms are clean but dated, amenities very basic.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not a Good Experience"
Rooms were tiny, bedspread was terribly old and dirty; something you had to take off immediately..and possibly with gloves. Tired and worn down. Food was also very sub par. If you come here just to shop at the mall, this location is ideal. I did not so I would not book this hotel again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good place to stay,"
Good and friendly staff. Room in krona tower was a bit small but okay for one person. Prices in gift shop were very high. Could use better restaurant for sandwich or a simple snack or lighter breakfast.Genuine Expedia guest review
Great! Minor stuff like TV remote control wasn't working, got mitigated asap called the front desk. Continue to be the BEST HOTEL in Honolulu.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
It was a stay after having enjoyed a beach leisurely in Maui Island. Ala Moana is the place that is very convenient for shopping and a meal. When I stayed two years ago, I was not able to use wifi. but this time free wifi. TV was broken, but repaired it immediately. The room was not large, but there was not any problem. I will stay Ala Moana again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good location for conventions"
Good hotel location, especially if you need to be near the conference center. Rooms are Ok, but clean, just a bit old.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Good location and good price"
I really enjoyed this hotel. It's very well located, the decor is nice, and it's very reasonably priced. I would definitely recommend it.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Small room but very nice"
This is a semi-luxurious hotel in a good location for me, which was very near the convention center. The room was small, but for just one person, it was very adequate in size. For two people or more, it could get a little dicey. It's definitely a nice hotel. I was too busy to take advantage of amenities such as the pool and fitness center.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Fun at Ala Moana Hotel"
The location is the main factor for my purposes as it is centrally located amongst all of my business and personal appointments. Everything was super great. My only suggestion is that the access card they use for the elevator - frequently it wouldn't work. If the card wasn't inserted at the right angle for the right amount of time, it wouldn't work. […] Also, the height and size of the opening for the card was too low and too narrow. There were times that I would ride up and down the elevator until someone else came in and had a better try at it. Many other people had the same diffculty. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great and Convenient."
It was nice and most of all convenient. Hotel was close to where we need to be. Clean and staff very nice and accommodating.Genuine Expedia guest review
The staff is very courteous and helpful. They are superb! However, the condition of the room was disappointing as a chair was missing and the linen for the sofabed also was missing. We had to contact the desk to obtain the linen (sheets and blankets) and pillow for the sofabed. As for the chair, one mysteriously appeared the day before our departure. […] The television's reception was okay, but after awhile the reception became static - had to slap the back of the television to regain a clear picture. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Prison cells are larger"
I stayed at the hotel for more than a decade but this stay was the last time I stayed there. At the check-in they gave rooms for early check-in for peoplr who paid the regular rate not the reduced rate or for people who were willing to pay an extra of 40 Dollars per night on top what they have paid already. At 3:40 p.m. they finally had a room for me. […] This room was the smallest room I ever got at a hotel in my life (business travel for more than 35 years). To open the drapes you had to go sideways between the bed and the desk/chair. It was the last room on that floor. Besides the room was a staircase used pretty often which you could judge by the loud bangs of the staircase doors. And the room was above the trash collection area. Between 5:15 and 5:30 am I got an unwanted wakeup call every day from the trash trucks which emptied the hotel's metal trash containers. Sleeping in that room was not easy because the fridge made loud noises and several times the sound of dripping water which was so loud that I woke up from that noise several times. The bath was not clean. There were hairs in several places and spots on the tiles which seemed to be drops of a male body fluid. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice hotel in a great location"
I enjoyed my stay at the Ala Moana Hotel very much. It is a very convenient location, as it is just next to the Ala Moana Mall. It is close enough to the Waikiki area, it is walking distance, a pleasant walk at that. There are trolleys to & from the different areas & they all end at the Ala Moana Mall, which is also nice. The rooms are clean & the fitness […] center is sparse, but nice. Very reasonable rates as well. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

""Luxury" For the Rich, But not for Expedia Clients"
When I first got into the hotel room, I was really amazed at how small it was and looked nothing like it's advertised. It was obviously not remodeled and I guess they hold the "bad" rooms for the expedia guests. I went to get a glass of water, and the glass was cracked. I suppose that's understandable, but it does speak to the quality of care housekeeping […] takes. But it wasn't until I took a bath later that night that I discovered a pubic hair from a previous hotel guest in the bathtub! I was disgusted having to clean the tub before I took a bath! This was a 30th Anniversary, and this was the one night we took out all the stops and splurged at a 4 star hotel. And that night, the bed was so uncomfortable, I couldn't sleep at all. Now I realize the first night you get to Hawaii you might be excited. But I had already been there for a week and a half and slept on my son's love seat till my husband arrived. I actually wished I had the love seat again instead of that bed. I told the manager the next day, but all he could do is comp us breakfast buffet since we were only staying 1 night. God is good to keep us from staying longer!!! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Convenient scheduling before retuning to mainland"
Okay. Disappointed in the lack of a coffee shop, to get a light evening meal. Even though there were many trendy restaurants in the adjacent mall, they were crowded and noisy.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Good hotel for honeymoon"
We had a great experience at this hotel, the location was what we needed for our activities while staying on the island. We found free parking within 15 min walk from hotel. We were on the top floor of the shorter tower. The adjacent shopping mall has a food court with over 20 restaurants that are less than $10 a plate.Genuine Expedia guest review
Had a room with ocean view and the view is spectacular. The location is convenient with walking distance to beach, shopping mall, and shops around.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"great location connected to the mall"
Very nice hotel, room a little small but fine for 2, clean. Close to Waikiki, nice beach close by. Nice short walk to Ala Moana mall. a few blocks to Waikiki shopping. Felt safe, good and friendly service! Would stay there again!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The rooms are very small. So small it was hard to find a place to put our luggage during our stay. The place is overall clean and the staff was accommodating, but I don't think this is a best value for the price in Waikiki.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Very Handy Access to Ala Moana Shopping Center"
The Ala Moana Hotel is a "Condotel" which are condos for long and short stays. My room was very nice and has been updated in the last 5 years. There is no complimentary breakfast which is fine. The room had a coffee maker, microwave and larger than normal refrigerator. There are laundry facilities on 2 different floors and I used them with very minimal […] waiting time. The building has been renovated in the last few years and is in good condition. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Ok for one night. Convenient for shopping mall and starbuck's - all the essentials of life. Very slow checkin and small room. But slept well after long flight in - ready to move on to better islands.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"rattling lanai door"
This is my 1st choice to stay at whenever i stay in a hotel in Honolulu. I'm usually in the Waikiki Tower (nice views, full lanai). This time i was in the KONA TOWER. I asked for 1 queen bed. It was roomy & had a small sofa that to my surprise ended up being a pull out bed too (didn't know till the morning i left). I have only 2 COMPLAINTS: 1). line […] to check in from 3-6:30pm was ridculously long! i waited 30 minutes & they didn't even have all the cstations open... the hotel should have planned better knowing it was going to be full. Even the next morning it was still long! 2). i didn't have a lanai, but still had a sliding glass door (NO SCREEN DOOR). It RATTLED from the wind ALL NIGHT the 1st night! Finally at 2a.m., I wedged 1/2 the hotel info binder inbetween the 2 glass doors & got the noise to stop so i could sleep! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Bell staff is not freindly. Number of reception is not enough , always a long queue.Genuine Expedia guest review
The hotel is overall nice. It's located about a 15 minute walk from beach, and there is a walkway to the Ala Moana mall. The walk to the beach is easy, but you have to cross several very busy roads. Very close to the convention center. The bathrroom is nice, the room is nice, but slightly crampt for American standards (mainly narrow). When I was able […] to get through to the staff, they were helpful and nice. However, there was often a very long line at checkin (10 - 20 people) and it often took a while to get through to anyone at the front desk if you called. The activities desk had only 1 person at it, and it often took 20 or 30 minutes waiting in line to speak with someone. I actually went to the Hilton to organize a few activities and it was less of a wait. This is run by another company, not the hotel though. Overall this is a nice hotel if you are there for work or for a convention. It is a little bit difficult to get to the beach due to the roads in the area. The hotel is clean, staff are friendly, but it felt a little understaffed at times. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

I travel to Oahu twice a year for business & always stay at the Ala Moana Hotel. The rooms are always clean & comfortable. I prefer to be away from the noise of Waikiki but can walk to the main area in 10-12 minutes. Free Wi-Fi is a plus & parking is convenient but is $20/day. "colse to Alamoana Shopping Center"
The room was quite small but comfortable. The hotel staff all kind and helpful. Only complaint: the safety box was locked. Probably the previous guest kept it locked and checked out. It should have been checked prior to our check-in.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"They're happy being mediocre."
Nobody is friendly here. This was my 6th time staying at the hotel, nobody acknowledges this. The rooms are split. Some have been remodeled and some have not. This time, my bed was lumpy, and I had to turn the refrigerator off because it vibrated when it cycled on. Only the location keeps me coming back because its easy for my colleague to pick me […] up rather than driving into Waikiki. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Not comfy for wheelchairs"
The ADA rooms are a bit small. With a queen size bed, a wheelchair can access only the front of the room, i.e. the bathroom and one side of the bed. You can't get past the dresser to the lanai or other side of the bed. However the bathroom was fully accessible and met ADA standards. A wheelchair user can use the room but can't expect to move around […] much. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
